Arrived at 7:45 on a Tuesday. It was a dark and stormy night(sorry had to do that) and there weren’t a lot of people there, about half full. Staff was attentive and friendly. Started with the vegetable samosa. Very nice, good spicing, subtle but flavorful. Shrimp vindaloo was good. Normally a vindaloo is quite spicy but they have kept the heat level at a medium level but they can definitely spice it up on request. Chana saag was mild as I ordered but it seems like it got a little overpowered by the spicing of the shrimp vindaloo. I will order them at the same level next time. Naan was crispy and well cooked. Overall a good dining experience, would definitely come back.

Great place !! The best Buffett in town and very nice people. You get good value at this restaurant — which means great food and they treat you right. Go here !

We are vegans. And not knowledgable about Indian food. Our waitress explained all the options to us very completely. The food was super delicious. We will be back for sure. A word to the wise, the level 3 spicy was pretty hot. So go easy on the spice if you’re sensitive to that.

Great food, very welcoming wait staff. Had the Pindi Chana and Vegetable Samosas, they were delicious and the portions were large enough for leftovers making the trip very cost-effective. I also very much appreciate the Vegan labeling on the menu. Many Indian dishes are typically already vegan, but it lets me know there’s no stray yogurt or ghee mixed in.

ordered pickup through Unilocal.everything was mad decent! the chicken chunks were a bit smaller than any other Indian food I’ve ever had, but that means a higher meat to sauce ratio, holla! not 5 stars just bc I’ve had better, but might change that after make time to actually dine in and check out the buffet. I’d order from here again tho fo sho!

Loved this place. Everything was spot one and I can’t tell you how happy I was to find this place.

The food is amazing! It’s a little pricey for my personal taste, but worth it based on taste alone. I got the chicken curry, spice level 3, and it was delicious. The naan is also fantastic, but a little expensive for what you get: if I remember correctly, almost $ 2 for one big piece. I expected the portions to be bigger, but I did manage to have a bit left over to take home. The food really is great, so I will definitely be going back.

Taj Mahal was my favorite restaurant and I would go anytime I had a chance. A couple of years ago, I assuming, it changed owners. It got so spicy hot I couldn’t enjoy the food. We decided to try it again today, after at least a year break. It was so spicy I couldn’t eat it. My favorite dish is Palak paneer and I’ve never had any that was too hot to eat. It was today! My favorite dish was ruined. Even Ricky couldn’t handle it’s heat. I won’t go back again, I’ve been burned too many times, pun intended!!!

Horrible food! One of the worst I’ve ever eaten. I would’nt even call it an Indian food. For $ 11.99, I could have a 1000 times better Indian food somewhere else in DFW area. Not enough selection. Tandoori chicken was stale and seemed reheated and tasted like lighter fluid. Samosas were fried in rancid oil. I’m appalled at at all the 3,4,5 stars. The way I rate a restaurant good if all the native people(in this case Indian people from India) give rave reviews, then the place is worth a try. Will never go back.

$ 11.99 for the lunch buffet. And it wasn’t bad maybe a tad over priced for the relatively limites selection but overall good. I tried a lot of things but not quite everything. Most items were good a tad mild for my tastes but I guess that’s what you get with a buffet. Chicken Tikka Masala was flavorful. Nice chunks of chicken in fairly fragrant sauce. Goat and potato curry was also good, also not hot enough. Veggie pakora nice and crispy fried spinach. yum! Samosa were good. Naan was nice and buttery and soft and crispy. Chana Masala was decent. I tried one piece of the fish pakora and it was nice as well. I was disappointed with the saag. It’s usually my favorite sauce but something seemed off about it here. Perhaps once again just a lack of heat. For desert the keer(rice pudding) was nice. Sweet and filling but light enough to end the meal without feeling heavy. The service was ok. It’s a buffet so not much is needed. But it was a bit unorganized when I came in not sure where to sit me and most tables empty but dirty.

For the lunch buffet, the few times I’ve been here, it’s been good but not great. It’s a step above your regular Indian food buffet. They have what you generally expect, only executed at a slightly higher level. As far as dinner, the one time I had it was with two friends and we got three different vegetable dishes. They were all really good.

We ordered food to go from there tonight and were very pleased. The Chicken Tikka Marsala, Tandori Chicken Tikka and nan bread were wonderful. Will definitely go again.

Service| our waiter was not very attentive– gave us only two sets of utensils for four people and when we asked for more, he didn’t have a good attitude about it. Waters were not refilled. Atmosphere| small fancy little place, homey type of feeling Menu| not too many selections– there’s one buffet table and a couple of desserts to choose from. The food was acceptable but I think the main issue was the temperature of the food– it wasn’t kept hot enough. We liked the fried fish best. Recommendation| if you really like Indian food, you should still give it a try– I believe they got the taste down– just that the food got warm. I don’t think I’ll come again though because it’s still a bit pricey for what I got.

Coconut chicken curry was good. MSK naan was also good but contained very little raisins and coconut. I could barely taste the coconut. Sevice was excellent. I took off a star because the kitchen redid the naan that I already consumed a small portion instead of making me a new one.

The buffet in the afternoon is a great value for me because I am vegan and I have food allergies. I ate dinner at TAj Mahal twice, but the portions are so small! I am only 100 pounds so it doesn’t take much to fill me up, but the portions are small. I wound up spending over $ 40 to fill me up! For my money, I prefer to go to the vegetarian restaurant Madras Pavillion in Richardson TX for their buffet or to vegetarian restaurant Kalachandji’s for their lunch or dinner buffet!

Came here today for the Sunday Lunch buffet. Service: 1⁄5 — I wasn’t seated to my table. My beverage never made it to my table. I didn’t even get my bill Food: 2⁄5 Very limited items. Food isn’t warm. No authentic taste. Would I come back? Probably not. I’d rather go next door and check out the chinese buffet. Don’t waste your money and more importantly don’t waste your time.

Bland food devoid of any flavor whatsoever. Save your money and go to Any other restaurant but this one. The lunch buffet used to be tasty but the place must have undergone new management as the food is now so poor. It costs $ 26 for 2 people at lunchtime. That’s way too much for such poor quality food.

Great lunch buffet. Good variety and food is delicately spiced so that it appeals to most palates. Butter chicken seems to be a staple and is delicious. They usually have 2 desserts on the buffet.

Chicken 65 with no spice. Basically a chicken nugget. Chicken Korma, thin sauce and no flavor. Used to be our«go to» Indian restaurant. Sadly, no more.

An Indian dinner buffet is a rarity in DFW, so we thought we’d make the drive across town to Taj Mahal on a Sunday evening. The buffet was satisfactory enough to be filling, but finding spicy or savory dishes on their spread left me wanting(seriously, no spicy condiments to be had?). The mostly older Anglo clientele seems to suggest that Taj Mahal plays it safe with their buffet offerings. I will give a few nods to items on their buffet: for example, their super crispy/crunchy leafy pakora. I really enjoyed TM’s pakora, prolly because I prefer single veggie to a mixed veggie pakora. The greens were still a vibrant green after deep frying, but the light texture was nearly reminiscent of flash frying. I also enjoyed the gobi manchurian(not a dish I normally hover over on an Indian menu); TM wasn’t heavy handed with the brown sauce like some other places will tend to do, making this cauliflower dish a tasty Asian-inspired veggie option. The fried fish was also memorable for not being so fishy, but fresh tasting, though my preference would be for it to have a crispier and spicier crust. Dishes that fell below expectations were the chicken tikka masala(which curiously had a very bland, watered down taste), the overly dry and tough tandoori chicken, and the very bitter spinach paneer(which I guess needed more cheese to offset the bitterness of the spinach). The lack of gulab jamun on the buffet line was underwhelming; though we received two tiny honeyed balls when we requested the dish from a server – which still was not worth the wait. The mango custard and the rice kheer were better. There happens to be a lot of regulars at Taj Mahal, judging from the friendly staff reception to guests, so TM seems to be a local favorite. However, if you happen to be a regular restaurant goer in Irving, Richardson and North Dallas Indian haunts, then I don’t feel that Taj Mahal is worth the drive across town. Unless you need to satisfy a dinner buffet fix.

Good place for dinner, don’t judge the book by the cover. Not in the strip that I would normally visit. If you really want authentic clean Indian food and well prepared meal on a day when you don’t want to spend your budget on ambience alone, this is the place for you. Their mutton vindaloo is awesome and so is breads. If you are a fan of Indian bread, try one stuffed with potatoes and onion or garlic kulcha(bread with onion or garlic). They have great vegetarian meal options like okra, egg plant and spinach with paneer cheese etc I had friends in town from CA wanting Indian food, the discount COUPON on their Facebook page was good.

Five stars for the buffet! I’ve only been once, for lunch on Sunday, but I will definitely be back. The buffet had 10 – 12 different main items including tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, something with goat, two dishes(chana and saag) with paneer, another vegetarian bean dish, rice, a saffron cauliflower/potato dish, fish, some kind of breaded fried veggies, as well as salad, tabouli, naan, soups, and three desserts. Two buffets with two sodas cost just under $ 33 before tip, and though that may seem a bit steep, the food/service/location make it worthwhile. The service was great — just go in, sit wherever you like, give the waiter your drink order, and then waddle up to the buffet. The lighting inside is a bit dim in comparison to insane day sunlight outside but your eyes adjust eventually. Would be hard to come here and have to read a menu if it’s daylight outside, but since they have the buffet it’s not an issue. I tried the chicken tikka masala and the tandoori chicken and both were perfectly moist and flavorful. I didn’t have the issue of any of the food being under spiced/flavored, and I like spicy bold food generally. My lunch date doesn’t like spicy things, and he seemed happy with the flavors(enough to get a second plate of the chicken tikka masala). We didn’t sample the desserts, so I can’t comment on them. The waiter let me know when there was ‘fresh from the oven’ naan on the buffet — and the fresh stuff was just heavenly with the green chutney. Overall, I think this has to be the best indian buffet for those of us who live within Dallas proper and have no real reason to be mucking about north of 635 to have a good meal. Only 10 minutes from downtown on a weekend — no excuse for you to not try it!
