We have dined here many times and the food has always been fairly good. This time we ordered takeout. The portions were horrendously small. The staple item at any Indian restaurant(chicken tikka masala) was worse than a frozen meal. It was underseasoned, too heavy on creamy too light on the tomato zing. The vegetable dish we ordered was pathetically prepared. The only decent part of the meal was the naan. I’m not sure if they are under new management or have a new chef, but someone in management ought to take notice!

I am baffled by the 3 star and below reviews for India Palace, particularly for the freshest and tastiest Indian buffet I’ve ever had the pleasure of conquering. Nearly every dish is a flavor bomb of spices, in a very good way, and the selection is so wide that there is plenty here to satisfy any palate. We come here once every few months, and leave very happy and satisfied, looking forward to the next round from the time we walk out the door, chewing on fennel seeds, grinning ear to ear.

I went here for a meetup with a really big group so we had the private room and a prix fixe menu of appetizer, naan and choice of entrée with white rice. I got the tandoori chicken. I tasted the vegetable curry and that was really really good though spicy. I would try that again and ask for it mild I guess. I should have asked how much it would have been because I think it was pricey for what was offered. There’s only so much appetizer you can eat and they were just ok appetizers(veggie samosa and some other potato apps). I’d say I have had better Indian food. The service was ok as well except at one point some of us were told to leave the room and move into the bar if we were done eating and we did. Then our host told us to come back into the room as the event wasn’t finished. Very strange.

I am surprised to see India Palace with less than 4 stars! My family and I have been coming here for years and we’ve always been pleased with the food and service. We always come for dinner so that may make a difference from other people’s experience at the lunch buffet. Every time we’ve been, it’s been pretty empty. They have ample space inside though so even if there are busy nights, I can’t imagine there being a wait(but don’t quote me on that, I could be wrong). All the staff here is awesome. The lady who greets us as we walk in is super sweet, the manager(who we now know from our frequent visits) is a good man, and the waiters/waitresses provide friendly service. My family can be pretty picky so getting a waiter that doesn’t show any attitude when my dad goes extreme germophobe on them is impressive. Which brings up another good point: the fact that my dad eats here speaks to the cleanliness of the establishment. The food is nothing short of spectacular. We usually order the vegetable samosas to start out with. They are incredible and as authentic as it gets. The outside is nice and crispy and the inside is packed with taste. For the meal, my family usually shares the chicken tikka masala, boneless chicken tikka, chicken biryani, and an order of naan. Every one of those dishes is on point. The spices are amazing and really deliver a flavorful meal. The naan is also delicious. I’ve also once tried the lamb vindaloo, which was super spicy, but good. I always stuff myself beyond belief on the food here, but it’s well worth the post-meal guilt. India Palace is my standard for all other Indian restaurants I eat at. I haven’t had any Indian food that has topped it yet and don’t expect to come across one anytime soon. The food here is incredible so I highly recommend you overlook the 3.5 star rating and give it a shot. Note: As I’m writing this review and referencing the menu for spelling, I have realized that the prices are pretty steep. I otherwise wouldn’t know this since I’ve only gone with family meaning my dad pays. Regardless, I can see why people would avoid dinner and come for lunch. In my opinion, it’s still worth the price every once in a while.

Reservation was made a week in advance and we were seated 30 min after the reservation time which was ridiculous. Waitress was hard to find and service was extremely slow. Food was ok. Tried quite a bit in the menu and nothing stands out aside from the dhal ghost that was ordered hot and came witout a hint of chilli. I will not be back here as the service was pathetic

My 2nd time. My first time in was just OK in last year, I want give another try, but… If you compare with other India food restaurant, India palace food lack sincerity. Chili chicken was cost $ 14.5,only have 11 pieces nail big meat, the rest are large pieces of pepper in bottom. Lamb biryani was dry out, more than 70% dry rice in dish. Garlic naan $ 3 each, was taste OK, but almost anywhere. Over price and poor quality. Service is poor, I was still tip 20%, just because I am a kind person, that is all reason, they were very slow for everything on service, even when you ask pay a bill. I didn’t take photo, you may not happy to see a lot of green peppers.

We hadn’t been here in years and had a craving for Indian food. It had always been very good and the food didn’t disappoint. My chicken saagwala was perfectly spicy even when ordered mild. My boyfriend ordered beef vindaloo medium. Very hot, so be aware of heat levels. Now the bad news. We were seated in the expanded section, which isn’t nearly as cozy as the main room. The only other patrons in our section were large parties. We ordered hot tea and a soft drink. It took 15 minutes to get the tea. In the meantime the soft drink had already been refilled once. When I asked where the tea was, they said they were making sure it was«fresh». When it came it was lukewarm. It took another 20 minutes for the food to arrive, at which point the tea was cold. Another 10 minutes to get more tea(I had to ask), again lukewarm. Did i mention the softdrink was easily refilled 4 times? Service was definitely lacking. For the price of their entrees, on average $ 18, we expected a better dining experience.

I grew up in India and I am normally critical of Indian restaurants. I wasn’t expecting much here due to 3.5 stars on Unilocal. But after consistently glowing opinions from friends and family we decided to give it a try — boy I was surprised. The food was GOOD. The ambience was hygienic too which is normally a big question for Indian restaurants. I personally think the reviews don’t make much justice for the quality of this place, so I an giving it a 5 to be fair and even it out. However, my score is 4.

I’ve grown up on Indian food, and eaten at dozens of Indian restaurants in my life in various cities over the years(including India itself). Other than Kesari in Plano, TX, this is the worst Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to in addition to the most overpriced when factoring food/portion. I say that knowing full well when it comes to more upscale dining portion sizes are smaller, but $ 14 for flavorless biriyani that’s practically in a cereal bowl? Thumbs down. The food? Tandoori? More bland-oori! We ordered several biriyani’s, chicken tikka, and dal and it all lacked a punch in both the spice and flavor department you’d expect from an Indian restaurant. Who goes to an Indian restaurant to eat bland food? Seriously? The service was a joke. Half our table didn’t get silverware, and the waiter placed a lemonade on top of a knife and it spilled all over the table and a basket of naan. They didn’t even bother doing anything until we asked for them to clean it up, didn’t replace the basket of naan, and I was left without a napkin my entire meal because I didn’t want the spill to go over my edge of the table. The only people I could see liking this place are people who don’t know what good Indian food is. Everyone else who has even a smidgen of knowledge when it comes to Indian cuisine would stay far, far, FAR away from this place.

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was five years old. I came back in town to visit and of course I had to eat here. This is the best Indian food in Dallas hands down. It is the most authentic and the best service. It was so nice seeing people I have known forever. Sam is an amazing server. They have renovated the restaurant and it looks totally different but it has the same homey feeling. They have a full vegetarian and vegan menu which is awesome. The food is sooooo good

We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Vindaloo. Be careful with the vindaloo though. It nearly blew my head off. Both were very good and tasty. No complaints.

Had the lunch buffet today(Wednesday). I like Indian food, but I’m not a connoisseur. Food was ok, but not memorable. I really had no desire for a second helping of anything, except the naan bread. POSITIVES: Nice, contemporary atmosphere — hostess told me it was remodeled about a year ago. Service was very good — water glasses were quickly refilled, and empty plates were quickly removed from the table. Buffet items were nicely labeled and described. The restaurant was full of diners, but there was only a short wait at 12:30 pm. Estimate 70⁄30 ratio Indian/non-Indian diners at the time I was there.

Second time eating Indian food this week! India palace is an O. G of Dallas and you can never go wrong here. We ordered the lamb samosas. The crust was flakey and buttery and very tasty!(Last year they had pumpkin samosas and they were so good!) for main course we ordered the chicken tikka masala and asked for medium hot spice level. It definitely had a kick! Service was great from the hostess to the bartender telling us goodnight as we left. Oh and I finished off the meal with a mango lassi which is very good here and not too tart.

Awesome food. Been coming for years. Great staff. Patrick is hilarious and knowledgable. Bonnie was awesome and so very kind and funny :) Will come again for more :) Brought my girlfriend and friends for their first time and they absolutely loved it. The lamb vindaloo was delicious as was the chicken tikka madras and mango chicken and also lamb balti I enjoy and prefer a spicier dish and the lamb vindaloo was on point. Spicy. Hearty. And the meat was boneless and tender. I paired it with their rice and some habanero naan. Although the naan didn’t have any habaneros(thankful for) it was spicy and delicious. :)! Anyways. Great joint. Going to go try kalachandjis next !! Cheers

Oh no, my friend… you must travel further to experience the True Indian Spirit. I love Indian food and have had it in many different cities. The combination of spices gives you a feeling of well-being and warmth after you eat it. Not ‘tongue-singeing’ spice, but a flavorful combination that may make your skin flush a little. A Kind of neutered Indian food on the buffet. They did have a nice selection of dishes. Because its heavy on the tumeric, it had an almost sweet taste. I ate 2 plates, sampling all the dishes, but only drank 1 glass of tea because the food had very little ‘kick’. I’m thinking that maybe the Indian chef does the dinner service, and subordinates do the buffet. Indian food, marred by minor technical flaws, served in pleasant surroundings. I wish they would drop the buffet prices $.50 cents so the servers could get more back from a $ 20. They checked on me often, cleared the used plates promptly, and circulated among all the guests. The Hostess was most gracious in her greeting. The buffet and a drink is $ 18 and change out-the-door, which makes it a bit pricey for lunch.

India Palace was a pleasant surprise. Located in the strip shopping center located at the SW corner of Preston and 635. I had driven past them several times, and finally stopped in to try them out. The restaurant was clean and nicely appointed with dark woods and Eastern modern décor. The hostess seems to be more concerned with restaurant related paperwork at the front desk, than welcoming guests. She seemed startled to see me standing there, waiting to be seated. Inattentive hostess aside, I was seated at a table in the middle of a nice dining area. India Palace has both a dining area and an inviting bar, where you can have your dinner or enjoy a lightly chilled beverage, while you wait for your table. Their menu is simple and well organized. I ordered the Chili Prawns($ 14) as a starter. Be prepared. It is spicy, but I like spicy, so that is exactly why I ordered it. The server delivered a display of 3 traditional sauces(pepper chili, a fragrant green herb, and a sweet and tangy sauce), along with flat crispy bread. The Prawns were delicious, accented with green peppers, onions and crushed tomatoes. Did I mention they were spicy? I ordered the Lamb Curry($ 18) as my entrée. It came in its own deep, square shaped bowl, with a side bowl of the most aromatic Basmati Rice. The server carefully placed a few large spoonfuls of rice on my plate, then left me to serve the Lamb Curry myself. The Lamb was well stewed in a perfect balance of spices and seasonings. Of course I had to kick mine up a few notches, so I poured one of my 3 Sauce-cateers into my Lamb Curry. I chose the Chili sauce, no big surprise there. Mixing a bit of the sauce with the rice and Lamb, made for a delicious mouthful trip to the streets of New Dehli. Very authentic. I’m comparing it to my friend Krishna’s, mother’s home cooked Lamb Curry. Overall, the food was fantastic. The price was a little on the high side. The service: I felt unattended one too many times. I hate having to ask for my water glass to be refilled.(maybe its just me). The ambiance: The dinning room was loud. A result of the hard floors and louder than necessary traditional music. I’m looking forward to returning to the India Palace. The quality of the food is the real draw. Next time, I’m bringing all my Indian friends, and maybe we will all breakout into some Bollywood Dancing! Live, Love, Eat Life. Tony

Poppadoms with 3 sauces(cilli, mint/yoghurt and Tamarind chutney) were a great starter. Onion Bajis(sp?) were delicious. Followed it up with a spicy Chicken Vindaloo which(as always) was superb. Nan breads are the best in North Texas. Been coming here for over 25 years and the food is always good.

This is an update to the review that I did for India Palace in late December 2014. We went there for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was packed. We were lucky enough to have a table available almost immediately upon arrival. We had the usual Seekh Kebabs, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoor Platter and Cochin Fish Curry(this was the dinner fish special). India Palace nailed the flavors on all of the main courses. The Cochin Fish Curry was made with Salmon and although the flavor was there I would have preferred it slightly spicier. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet to go with the food and it was a great match. This restaurant has been in existence since 1990 and the good food and service are the primary reasons for its longevity and success.

This place was really tasty! My only complaint is that the kebabs $ 18 didn’t come with naan and we got charged 3+ for it I think maybe 5 pieces came out. However, I would come here again! We ordered: vegetable simoas, chicken tikka masala, and shish kebabs(ground lamb) — all in medium hot. It definitely had a kick!
