I had dinner here on Saturday with my parents. Craving liver and onions after recovering from surgery… as always it was great. I wont cook liver in my home due to I dont like the smell when it is cookiing. Liver was tender and onion. Corn casserole and spinach delicious. Waitress has been here for years and she is always friendly and attentive. My favorite Lubys.

I love Luby’s but they must improve the food. My okra not crisp or hot. Most things are too salty, and service was useless in the dining room.

Haven’t been to Luby’s in 50 years. Decided to take my 94 year old Mother to the Mockingbird location yesterday around 3:00PM for a late lunch. I must say we had some of the worst food on the planet. I would opt for prison food rather than return to Luby’s again. The Roast Beef($ 9.95 a serving) was cold, fatty, grisly, and so tough you couldn’t cut it with a steak knife from their location. The mashed potatoes were cold, hard, and lumpy. The jalapeño corn bread was so hard you could pound nails with it and my Mother’s desert cake would put anybody into insulin shock, sickening sweet. Did I complain to anyone? No. Having been in the restaurant business for 40 years I have learned the best served complaint is to simply not return, and you can bet your last dollar that I will not. I must say the lady working the dining room was terrific, tipped her $ 5.00, certainly not her fault the food was reprehensible. $ 28.00 worth of cow dung.

Keep expectations appropriate and it’s fine. It’s a cafeteria. Better than most school cafeterias, but not that good. Family friendly, blue hair friendly. Typical cafeteria fare, but with a few steamed veggies/healthier offerings than in the past The desserts, especially the chocolate cream pie, are surprisingly terrible though — not worth swallowing. Which is surprising because isn’t that a highlight of cafeteria visits? Oh well, it’s still a decent enough cafeteria to make it onto the rotation occasionally.

I had lunch here today and it was so good! The food was very fresh and the service was great! Our little waiter was the sweetest ever and very eager to please. Located in the heart of Lakewood and all you can eat breakfast on the weekends. Give the place a try. Unlimited menu buffet style.

Although this location was filled with the typical and appreciated Luby’s smiles, they weren’t enough to make up for the dismal food that they served. I’m a huge fan of Luby’s, usually. This time has really diminished my enthusiasm. Let’s just get down to it. My fried fish was LOADED and I mean FULL of the tiny fish bones that are so well known for choking. I was actually amazed and looked through the fish several times to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing. I was. Pushed aside… Fried okra… So underdone raw would have been an understatement. It was cold and the batter was soft and falling off the vegetable which was raw… period. There was more but I was done. I understand an off day or a bone or two or a little undercooked, but this was unacceptable period. I won’t be back to this location and will think twice about going to another. What a shame!!!

Stopped by tonight to grab some food to go after work. The restaurant was clean, the staff was pleasant and the portions were huge. My boyfriend chose the chicken fried chicken with corn casserole and mashed potatoes. I decided on the enchiladas with jalapeño Mac & cheese + green beans. I was surprised that the meals were so cheap, $ 19 and some change for both. Will definitely be back to grab some to-go food on those evenings we just don’t feel up to cooking!

What is there left to say about Luby’s that hasn’t already been said? Yes, it’s cafeteria food, but it is great! It’s the same menu all the time. All the standards are there and consistently tasty. I am particularly fond of liver and onions. As this is difficult to get right, and nasty to make yourself, I choose Luby’s. Whenever I get a hankering for my favorite meal, you can find me here. My favorite aspect is that their call in orders are always hot and ready. I work nearby and occasionally talk coworkers into cafeteria food. This location is particularly clean and the staff is friendly and efficient. They have ample parking and a convenient location in east Dallas. I think I will head back that way now! Bön appetite !

Worst restaurant experience of my life. First time eating there and the staff was the rudest of it’s kind. The lady working behind the food pretty much called me dumb for not getting a tray and stated«fine then your fingers are going to burn that’s on you» the food was okay didn’t really eat any of the things I ordered.

I had a previously bad experience with Luby’s a few years ago in the one in Forest Hill in Fort Worth. But this one really exceeded my expectations. The food was so fresh and tasty. I ordered baked chicken with mashed potatoes, brown gravy, broccoli and a pecan tart. The food tasted like if my mother made it. Needless to say, the staff was so nice and friendly. I left with my stomach full and my heart happy. Definitely will make this place my regular spot for my splurge day on the weekends.

What has happened? My Luby’s expectations have always been somewhat limited… I mean it is what it is. But sadly, I am here to say, it isn’t was it is, or at least what it was. It is not nearly as good as it was, even when it wasn’t very good. Maybe we hit post-prime-time at 7:30. You had your choice of tossed salad, pea salad or fruit salad, but that was it. The entrée and sides choices were also sparse. When I asked the server about fried okra, she pointed to a serving tray with about 3 okra pieces in it and said«that’s it.» There was also no corn. How is there no corn at Luby’s? That’s like saying there was no jello. Oh yeah, guess what… there was no jello… not that I ate it anyway. My kids didn’t even ask for dessert, which is the only reason they would agree to Luby’s in the first place. We won’t be back. It feels like the end of an era.

I just ate here yesterday for a halloween tradition as far back as when I was about four and lived with my grandparents, so I may be biased, but here are my pros and cons from two halloweens worth of visits(last year and yesterday) since I’ve lived in Dallas: Staff is always kind ins way above par attentive, place is clean, and neither time was it dead or too busy. Pasta, Mac, mashed potatoes, veggies were all wonderful. Just like I remember them from the 80s! The meats were better last year, yesterday they were pretty dry. If I go back I’ll have to remember to ask for some juice from the pan, or watch for that. Taste was still good but a dry entrée makes me sad, because then the meal really isn’t worth the price. Salad and spinach was fresh and crisp, though the tomatoes could have been fresher.

I can count on 1 hand the number of times I’ve eaten at a Luby’s in the past five years but I can assure you I won’t be going back anytime soon. I agree with Ashleigh — WTH is with the prices. We ordered two Luanne’s, 2 teas, and split a dessert and it was $ 27. Seriously?!? I sliced into my chicken fried steak and the entire coating came off — leaving me with a puny and touch piece of «meat.» My daughter ordered the turkey dinner and it was so salty she couldn’t get past the second bite of turkey. Bring back Wyatt’s Cafeteria or head directly to the Highland Park Cafeteria! I miss the old days and the old prices. Color me :(

What exactly is the stuff on top of the Baked Alaskan Pollock? It’s kind of fluffy and I’m a little afraid of it. I still eat it. But I know it’s not natural to the pollock itself. Fish are not born that tasty. Either way, slap some mac’n’cheese and greenbeans on the plate and you’ve got an Easter lunch. And my pecan pie was a full 1⁄8 o’ pie! It was heaven. My grandmother – who is 98 – had the traditional ham, mashed taters and black-eyed peas. She said she would have rather gone to Golden Corral. I’m all, «WHAAAA?» Luby’s is good. Golden Corral is gross and crowded with unruly children who run you over because they just put out new pizza. Seriously? Tammy at Luby’s kept my tea glass full and my condiments well managed. The folks there actually care that all my cafeteria needs are being met. No running children – the two do not even compare. And while I’m not calling Luby’s a five star meal, it’s better than I can cook at home and waaaaaayyyy better than Golden Corral, Furr’s Family Fresh and whatever else you want to throw in that cafeteria/self serve category. I think it’s even better than Black-eyed Pea, but not better than Dixie House. And YES there is a difference between those two. They were not overly crowded on Easter Sunday, which makes me sad. They should have been swamped.

I’ve been to multiple locations of this restaurant and besides my waiter Errol the staff was not pleasant or attentive. The food was bland and cold and this was shocking to me because I usually enjoy my dining experiences here. Several of my friends warned me about this location but I still had to try it for myself. This will be my last trying this location.

Is it just me or has Luby’s jacked up its prices lately? And when I say lately, I mean within the past couple of years since I’ve actually been there. So yeah… I might be a little behind the times. I wasn’t all that hungry so I just got a soup/salad combo and a drink which set me back about $ 9, but the bf got the fried fish(as in one rectangle of fried fish), two sides, a side salad and a drink and it was almost $ 15!!! What the HELL?! Since when is Luby’s $ 15 at LUNCH? I’m confused. I ate at Hoffbrau the other day and got a steak, salad, two sides and a BEER for $ 13. I mean, really Luby’s. Check yourself. Then figure out what the term«Lunch Special» means. Your patrons will thank you. But, on to the food. It was good. I was a little pissy that they but my salad on a plate the size of a coaster, but whatevs. The Chicken and Rice soup I got was REALLY good, tasted very fresh and homemade, so it balanced out. Had a bite of the bf’s fish with some tartar sauce, it was pretty yummy too. The mashed potatoes were pretty much status quo for a cafeteria setting. Honestly, this Luby’s would have probably gotten 4 stars if thier prices hadn’t been so high. As it were, for a dinner I’d find it reasonable for the amount of food, but for lunch it seems like too much food and too much moola. Wisen up, Luby’s! Get yo-self a lunch special!
