I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant as you can see in my previous review. Today was the last time I will go to this former excellent restaurant. I am really sorry for them, because the food has gone downhill. My friend enjoyed the sushi and was pleased but I on the other hand, was disappointed for the second time. The manager or the woman who seems to be in charge has always been friendly and always asks how we are, since we have been loyal customers, but come on! She was working as a server this time and the one time I asked her to come because I wanted spicy mayo on the side, she came with her phone in hand and the phone was on speaker. Like if she was in a conference or talking to someone. I was beyond disappointed. So not only the food was going downhill but now the service! If the owner of this business reads my review I ask of you to save your business, the environment there seems like everyone is tired to be there and with no life! Heartbroken to leave my favorite place after 7 years of loyalty

We go here often and really enjoy it. Not the fanciest place, which appeals to us. Fresh sushi, great cooking, fair prices. Don’t forget to get your Amazon Local coupon!!!

Very happy with this place and their prices are even better!!! I’ll be going here for now on. Their lunch specials are great and reasonable. We used to always go to KU down the road, but the prices are much better at Fuji and it doesn’t have a funky smell. The waitress was very nice and on top of everything. Couldn’t be happier with a great quick lunch!

The food(Hibachi and Sushi) was mediocre. The staff was professional but had no energy. All the sushi and sashimi was nicely sized, but no real flavor. Hibachi was way over cooked and greasy. It wasn’t the worst I’ve had, but it is over priced and we left not impressed. Wouldn’t recommend for anyone that has a craving for sushi and hibachi. The place was clean, staff friendly enough and nothing tasted bad. just nothing tasted good or fresh. and at $ 26 per plate for steak/scallop Hibachi, no real flavor. We went at 5:30pm on a Saturday, a party of 2.

The food was really pretty good and if the staff hadn’t been so awkwardly lifeless I would have give them 5 stars. I had a $ 50 for $ 25 promo from Amazon local and we got a Fuji roll(amazing), 2 sashimi orders, and a crunchy shrimp roll(also amazing). My only issue was that every person on staff looked unhappy. The chef at the hibachi table looked miserable and our waiter was technically polite but in no way made us feel welcome being there. I never saw anybody smile during our entire visit and it was eerie. That being said the food was worth coming back for and using the Amazon Local deal put this in a great price range.

Best sushi I ever had. Ask Lee for the crunchy sushi special with the special sauce. It’s not on the menu but I asked him to make something out of the ordinary. I guarantee you it will be the best thing you’ve ever eaten.

A great local favorite. Love that you can do hibachi and sushi and not go to a big chain Resteraunt. The food is fabulous! I always get the filet /chicken hibachi combo. End with a fresh cut orange. Flavor is perfect!

This is pretty much my favorite place in Dallas. I drive over 10 miles almost weekly to com here. Every time I take someone here, they fall love. The hibachi filet is my favorite.

Ok food. Awful service. My friends and I recently went to Fuji to celebrate a birthday; one of my friends a I decided to share one of the more expensive combo entrees. However, by share I just meant that we would split the meal! The waitress failed to mention that«share» and«split» meant completely different things, in addition to the fact that she could barely speak English. When the check came my friend and I were shocked to see that they had charged us an additional $ 8 to share the entrée. Confused, we asked to speak the manager about why we were charged extra. She rudely brushed us off just because we were teenagers and just sent the waitress over to talk to us. The waitress came over and said that«share» was completely different from«splitting» very rudely and didn’t apologize for not explaining to us beforehand what the difference was. My friend and I decided not to leave a tip(we considered the additional $ 8 sharing fee to be the tip), and after we had paid we left the restaurant. BUT, the waitress followed us out of the restaurant saying that we had forgotten to tip… what!!! Awful, awful, awful service. I am never going back to Fuji again. The food was decent; not anything amazing though.

I’m going into some detail on this one. Feel free to skip to the bottom paragraph if you don’t want the nitty-gritty. I bought the Groupon deal for 2 and read the reviews here prior to going. Thanks for lowering my expectations, Unilocalers. No, seriously, thank you. I was able to prepare my fiancé for a disappointing meal. He said to just let the Groupon expire and he’d take me somewhere else. I said that for $ 19, hibachi for the both of us can suck a little. «If you don’t like it, we can leave and go elsewhere.» He agrees. We walk in and there’s a family of 5 at a couple of tables playing cards. I look around for anything that looks like a host/hostess stand. A spot the tiniest little side table against the wall with menus on top. Is this where we wait? I don’t want to interrupt the oddly placed family game night, so I peer inside the dark restaurant. I see an older gentleman frantically running around, occasionally glancing at me. I try to lock eyes with him to get a feel for what I’m supposed to be doing. Where should I be waiting? He runs out. «Table for five?» The family follows him in. I’m still standing there confused. I walk in toward him a few steps and he holds up his hand. I think he’s telling us to wait. He keeps his hand up as he sets two more menus down alongside the family. I whisper, «Is he telling us to wait or is he telling us to sit there?» «I think that’s for us. Let’s just go sit down there,» my impatient fiancé says. Apparently it was for us. One kid whips out a GameBoy or something, the two others keep playing cards, and the parents inspect the menu. I really feel like I’m intruding on their family outing. A woman walks up to our table. «Any Groupons?» The father scoffs, «Ha! No!» I hold up the voucher on my phone. I squeak out«I have one.» I feel like I’m being judged. She gives me the lowdown. «You can get one of these dinners, except without the soup. Taxes and drinks are not included. If you want the house soup, it’s $ 1.50. If you want miso soup, it’s $ 2.00. Steamed rice comes with meal, fried rice is extra. What do you want to drink?» «Green tea.» «Hot?» “Uh, well… do you have iced green tea? If you have it iced, I’ll have that.” «No, only hot.» «Okay, well, then, yes. Hot green tea. Thanks.» She turns to my fiancé. «What do you want to drink?» «Iced tea.» «Regular iced tea?» «Um, yes?» She walks away. The woman comes back with our drinks and takes our orders. We both get the steak. Although the Groupon discussion on the deal DOES say that it includes either the ribeye or filet mignon, apparently it’s just the ribeye. Add the soup. Steamed rice is fine. The hot green tea is good. I finish it quickly. I try to flag someone down for another, but no one seems to notice me. The soup and salad arrives quickly. The soup is good. The salad was swimming in a vibrant orange dressing. I assume it was ginger, but it didn’t taste like anything. Mostly iceberg lettuce and shredded carrots with one chunk of cucumber at the bottom. We finish and watch«The Cleveland Show» on the TV on the wall next to us on mute with subtitles. A few minutes go by and our hibachi chef wheels his cart up. He dishes out the sauces(a mustard sauce for seafood and another for meat, he says) and asks how we want our steaks cooked. We both want medium-rare. The family sitting with us gives their orders(the dad wants it «more rare than anything») and the chef begins his show. We get the typical hibachi jokes and tricks as he starts making fried rice for the family. **Spoiler alert.** «Egg roll!!» He yells as he flips an egg around in the air with a spatula. «Egg roll!» He does it again. He adds soy sauce to it. «Dr. Pepper! Coca-Cola!!» The kids in the family giggle. I’ll skip ahead. Fried rice is finished and served to the family, our steamed rice is brought to us, and he starts cooking vegetables. Honestly, it looks like a small frozen bag of broccoli and carrots, one thick slice of an onion, and two slices of zucchini. For everyone. He does the onion volcano trick, followed by the choo-choo train bit(clanging the spatula on the grill and yelling«CHOOCHOO!»), then slices the onion and zucchini, tosses it all with soy sauce, and serves us all a few bites each. Then he cooks the meat. Our steaks were good. Small, but good. The second he puts the meat on my plate, I start chowing down. I finish after a few minutes, stealing sips of my fiancé’s iced tea. A server walks by and asks if I’d like more tea. «YES! Please!» She says she’ll go make some more. 15 minutes later, I get some lukewarm green tea. We ask for the check. $ 9.00 for taxes, drinks, and my soup. Not bad. Then I think for a second. $ 19 for the Groupon, plus the $ 9, plus a $ 9 tip? I’d spent $ 37 and I’m still hungry. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fine deal for hibachi steak for two, with drinks and tip. But I’m still hungry. We followed our dinner with a trip to Yogurtland, then a late-night Sonic run. I’m just disappointed. And still hungry.

This place is nothing special. We did the hibachi dinner where they do a «show» cooking in front of you. Chef was OK, he was able to do the onion volcano for the kids, but the food was pretty bland. They nickle and dime you with options that should be included with your meal. We went with a Groupon that was given to us. We waited until it was almost about to expire because places get slammed when they first offer the deal and you usually have a bad experience. I hate to say it, but they treated us like we were looking for a free meal and we felt resented. The whole premise behind doing a Groupon is to get new customers in the door and have them come back as repeat customers. They obviously don’t understand that. Even with the Groupon that was supposed to cover 4 peoples meals, we still spent $ 60 in extra stuff and still felt resented. I’m not a huge fan, but for the same price you can go to a Benihana and get better tasting food and a better show. 2.5 stars.

I’d LOVE to give this place ZERO stars… it doesn’t even deserve the one that pops up by default. The chicken was way OVERCOOKED and rubbery. The veges were all overcooked to mush and had onion as a filler making to go cheap on the portions the painfully had to serve. The shrimp appetizer was served last and just as rubbery as the chicken. When I explained to the manager how bad the food was and how painful it was to finish our plates, he asked if we saved a piece of food for evidence for him to see for himself. Next time I’ll remember to do that here… or anywhere else. I explained with a table of strangers all around at a hibachi table environment, it’s embarrassing to send your plate back and not knowing how to handle this situation, with all due respect for the chef… who’s RIGHT in front of you. I asked our entrees be comp’d and they did one of our two entrees which were both chicken. The dipping sauces were not that good… more like ketsup and honey mustard. The salad dressing tasted like french dressing, rather than some kind of a ginger based one that one would usually expect as a Japanese hibachi salad. The sushi roll(forget which one) was just«ok». What a waste of $ 44…with all Groupon/additional charges and we’ll never be back. For the same price north off Preston Road is Giesha Japanese Hibachi, which is worth the drive… don’t waste your money here.

It was inexpensive for lunch time. Quick in and out. The staff was friendly. Overall, not a bad stop. I hope to try the hibachi next time and I will update accordingly.

I would give this establishment no star if I could. I bought a coupon for 4 Hibachi dinners through Groupon. I specifically asked if I could get filet mignon and I was told yes but I guess they changed it. I bought the coupon 3 months ago. I went today and perhaps the only people that go there are people that bought the coupons but we were seated with a couple that bought the coupon and a mom, daughter and son that bought the coupon. The only redeeming thing about the meal were the people at our table. The food sucked. The portions were so small and except the sauces, the meal was pretty bad. Nothing spectacular. They said we got shrimp appetizers but I guess they put the s on the appetizers by mistake because we only got 1 each and the people that ordered shrimp didn’t get any. The man at our table bought us all soups and it was pretty bad. Not sure if it was miso soup but it was water and a couple of mushrooms floating around. It definitely isn’t the miso soup you get at real Japanese restaurant. Perhaps it was because we all came with the coupon and they were tired of dealing with the coupon but I just felt after this experience I would never go back or recommend this place to anyone. I was considering having dessert but they didn’t even ask and just brought out our checks. I guess they wanted to get rid of us. I’ve been to Benihaha and I think their portions are bigger and the show better. Prices might be the same.

Went there around 8 pm last night and was greeted by a crowd inside the entry. Probably from the groupon that was sold that day. After waiting 15 minutes and still no host I went to the back and asked for the host. The guy went into the back and still nothing. I and my friends left since they couldn’t seem to handle the crowd.

I drive by Fuji every day at least twice, and every time I think, ‘Man, I really need to try that place.’ This has been going on for about two years.. .finally on Friday, it finally happened. I should have kept driving. I’ve had some pretty awful luck with service the past couple weeks when it comes to trying new sushi restaurants. Fuji did nothing to help. We arrived a little after 8PM on Friday and were promptly seated in the back at a quiet table by the sushi bar. We watched as another table and three people were seated in the sushi bar area then ordered drinks and food before we were acknowledged. We had some questions about the rolls on the menu and this is the exchange that followed(and trust me when I say there wasn’t a language barrier issue): ‘Can you tell me more about what’s in the jalapeño roll?‘ Laughs — it has jalapeño ’Yes, but what else is in it — is there fish? Is it vegetarian?‘ Still laughing — it’s jalapeño! ‘OK, so there’s no rice or seaweed or anything else? It’s just jalapeño?‘ Picks up sushi sheet we aren’t finished filling out — I’ll get your food started. We were able to order the rest of our meal before she scampered off(rainbow roll, dragon roll, red snapper sashimi, and another roll I can’t remember that had salmon on top). When the food came out, it looked like a mess. The rolls were unevenly cut, falling apart and small(especially for the price). The rice was overcooked and the slices of fish on the rainbow roll had lost that vibrant color you see on fresh fish. The sashimi looked like it was pulled off the fish with a spork — it was mangled and twisted and carelessly slopped onto a loose ball of rice. I will say that despite appearances, the food did taste pretty good with only one exception — the dragon roll. Eel is an incredibly fatty fish — because of this, it’s a very moist and tender fish.. .most of the time. I’d never had dried out eel before coming to Fuji and I hope I don’t encounter it again anytime soon. There was little flavor and the eel was dry and chewy — not a good texture or flavor combo. An iced tea, 3 rolls, an order of sashimi and an order of edamame cost us $ 65 before tip. For the money, you can find better.. .I’d start with the grocery store.

I judge most sushi joints based on two very important characteristics: a stellar seaweed salad and an impressive Dragon roll. Fuji met my standards in both arenas. A friend and I happened upon this place while in the neighborhood, and decided to have some Sunday night sushi. The atmosphere wasn’t my favorite … a little cold and kind of dark, but the staff was friendly and the TVs were tuned to ESPN, so I was happy. The seaweed salad, Dragon roll and a California roll made my meal, and I was completely satisfied with all of the above. They gave me a generous portion of salad, which I always appreciate, and the Dragon roll was sweet, warm and perfect. The Cali roll was yummy too, didn’t taste like fake crab meat, which is always a plus. I’d definitely recommend this place. They have an extensive menu, and while I didn’t try the hibachi element this time around, I’ll be back to give it a shot.
