They’re getting better and starting to have more Gap, Lane Bryant, and Torrid clothing to make the store more appealing to all ages.

I like to check Unilocal before I try a new restaurant or deal with a company I’m not familiar with so after reading the reviews here for this resale shop, I decided to give it a try. I had a closet full of clothes hardly ever worn — some still with price tags on them– and wanted to see if I could recover at least some money instead of donating since I had so many items. I loaded the car with over 30 items– mostly plus size jackets and blazers suitable for business professional attire– all from a well– known retailer with a great plus– size line. All were classic styles, nothing trendy– no synthetic fabrics, many fully lined, including linen, 100% cotton unlined(washable). Originally sold for anywhere from $ 150-$ 200 or more each. Those with price tags still on had never been worn. Their written agreement is to leave the clothes for two months– after that, you can pick up any unsold items or you can leave them with the store– if you leave them, you don’t get any money if they sell. I opted to pick up any unsold items after the two months. The provide you with a written inventory of what you dropped off and the prices they will put on each one. For the items that still had the price tags/unworn, they priced them at 75−80% of that price. For the rest, they were priced anywhere from $ 30-$ 55 each. I was to receive 45% of the sales price on each. I got several emails from them over the two– month period about various sales they were having so that price on the inventory list they give you can definitely vary. My two months was almost up– I got one check for $ 26– one item sold out of approximately 30. When I called to make arrangements to pick up the unsold items, I was asked if I was going to pull them from the racks or if I wanted them to do it– if you have them do it, they charge you for it. Yes, it’s in the written agreement. Bottom line– I put in a lot of time and effort hauling the clothes back and forth, making sure they were clean and pressed, waited two months– all for less than $ 40. A couple more items had sold by the time the clothes were picked up– I think I got a total of $ 12 for those. Apparently they don’t get much business or the clientele they do have is not looking for good quality plus-size business attire at really low prices. It definitely wasn’t worth my time and a big disappointment that so few items were sold. So if you’re looking for a place to sell your clothes, I would recommend going elsewhere. The real kicker was the charge for them pulling your clothes from the racks– yes, it’s in their agreement. But geez… Lazy much? I won’t be going back, needless to say.

way to pricey for a consignment shop for me. I know they have to make money but I don’t understand who wouldn’t just buy new for that price. I didn’t dig because the racks were so full I couldn’t move or even pull anything out to look! so I won’t be going back waste of time.

This place is EXPENSIVE! Not what you would think used clothing would be priced at! The staff was really friendly.

When I walked in, I was overwhelmed and very excited. I spent time going through the store, looking for things in my size(I’m on the upper end, so have some trouble sometimes). I do not understand how this store is organized. I just don’t understand. I would understand this section casual, this section formal, this section business, etc… but it doesn’t seem to be that way. Maybe it makes sense to the owner. I made sure I went through the entire store to check every section at my size to get a good idea of what they have. Excitement wound down to just shopping. I ended up leaving with one item, and it is a terribly cute jacket, and was at a good price. As with all consigning, inconsistency is the name of the game. Hopefully this was just an off day. I’ll check back in a few weeks to try again, I think. What is with their price tagging system? I never knew what I would actually end up paying, so I just went for the surprise at the register. Also, it is STUFFED. This makes it really hard to see the clothes on the rack, meaning you have to pull everything out and restuff it on the rack. Also, if there are other women in the store who are your same size, forget it. There is not enough space in the aisle. The dressing rooms are nice. They have a fan inside to help you stay cool, which is awesome.

The staff is always so sweet and nice… They only accept the highest quality and cleanest clothing! Consigning with them is a breeze… There is always new stuff every time I shop and I never leave empty handed. I have often left with new items that still had the original tags on them and only spent a fraction of the original price!

Have found some great things there in the past, but now the store is so overstuffed that I can’t slide clothes to look at the things hanging on the rack — I have to pull the blouse out, and then have to stuff it back in between the tight tight racks. Quantity is not quality. Most of the purses are mounted 10 feet up on the wall above the shoes … have to get them with a hook. Hard to browse like that. Fishing for purses? I don’t like the hostile«Whale vs Mermaid» commentary posted in each dressing room. I’m not fond of the«blue and pink tickets are 20% off and the green and yellow ticket are 30% off and the marigold and trout tickets are 40% and 50% off but the mint and red tickets are not on sale.» Huh? Hurts my brain to shop there. Should have a 50% sale on everything and clear out some items. If the inventory is so massive that I can’t slide clothes on a rack, then the prices are too high. The point is to sell the clothes, not have a store so full of goods that it’s impossible to shop.

This shop had some great cosmetic jewelry items and a great designer who was showcased who designs some crazy, weird sterling jewelry items. My girlfriend found a nice clutch and I racked up on clip on earrings.

Stumbled upon this place after leaving Rethreads in the same center. Funnily enough, I’ve never walked out of Rethreads without purchasing something but did today. Went looking for suits. Nothing at Rethreads but hit the jackpot at this place. Found two skirt suits — one Tahari($ 39) and the other in a charcoal/slightly navy peach skin. Gorgeous! A worthington blazer that matches some slacks I already own, another pair of slacks, and a pretty top for a Christmas party. So for two suits, slacks, blazer, two tops, it came to $ 125. Not bad! I’m at that size where separates are the best since I’m 2 sizes larger up top so this will be handy while I’m undergoing my weight loss and don’t want to spend much. As for the store: nice dressing rooms and good sized! They even put a small standing fan inside so you don’t get overheated. Lol The racks were sometimes somewhat confusing, but a huge inventory. I dropped two sizes for my wedding so will takeaway bunch of stuff in. You get 45% of the purchase price. You need to make an appointment for the dropouts. As for the selection, I found some items to be pretty nice, especially If you are looking for professional clothing and don’t want to pay a lot. I am in the legal field and suits, etc. are mandatory. Other were just okay. Nice jeans and slacks. Although I might be pushing 50 in a few years, there were some items that were way too«churchish» for me. However, you can’t go wrong for the price. This way I can spend more money on my passion… SHOES!!!

Larger than life is a great clothing(but also purse, jewelry, and shoes!) resale — in a very nice little shopping center with a string of great shops on the block. They carry PLUS size clothing… but ALSOTALLSIZE clothing… which isn’t as heavily advertized. They sell sizes 14−26+ and they have alot of stuff still new with the tags and nicer quality items; lots of brand new items and lots of brand names. I got a BRANDNEW(with tags from store and the Vera Bradley tags) purse and makeup back for $ 30.00! original price would have been over 100 $. The store is very clean and always kept that way. Also, they very nice dressing rooms that are very large– no need to feel claustraphobic. Don’t find something you like? you HAVE to go back because they have new items EVERYDAY up to 60 new items a day– that being said– if you see something you like — you need to buy it while your there. Also– check the local Lake Highlands news paper for $ 5.00 off coupons!

The new owners are MUCH easier to do business with than the original owners — and the store is now open much more reasonable hours. You never know what you’ll find — I’ve walked out with a dozen new or nearly new items on some visits, and found nothing on others. But the selection constantly changes, and they’re very careful about qualify. Wish it wasn’t the ONLY plus-size resale venue in town, but if we only have one, at least it’s a good one!
