Cliff’s– what an interesting place. Patio is very inviting. Inside is beautiful wood. Very nice place inside & out. Cliff is a bit of a grouchy man or at least that’s what he’ll have you believe. He seems like a pretty fun guy once you strike up a conversation with him. The drinks were good. The menu offers a wide variety. There were two bartenders on duty. We really enjoyed the more seasoned bartender. She was busy with regular customers & trying to train the new bartender. She still took time to chit chat the perfect amount & made sure we had a pleasant experience. The bartender in training. .. oh good grief!!! We know WHY too much about this girl. She was more interested in talking about herself than doing her job. She just wouldn’t stop talking. Thank goodness for the seasoned bartender for rescuing us.

Nothing like the Loon. Weak drinks, poor food selection, and subpar service. Avoid. Unilocal requires me to write a longer review in order for it to earn public viewing status, so that is what I am doing… writing more words about how Cliff’s is not anything like the Loon, and not worth your precious time. Cliff’s = Loon

The food was good but it took over an hour to get it. The service was terrible as well. Definitely not what I was expecting and I won’t be back.

I try to go to Cliff’s on a weekly basis. Great staff and generous pour. The food is amazingly good for a bar. I usually get the pork sandwich and onion rings.

Make no mistake — this is THELOON. Stiff drinks are the same, vibe is the same, food is the same. What more could you want?! Except maybe those fancy leather couches again. Had veal marsala and pizza with our drinks — both great. Owner saw I ordered pasta and insisted on getting me a sample of their out of this world carbonara special. So good. Sad I took this long to go there since it reopened. Will definitely be back.

Cliff’s is the grown up /smaller version of the Loon(with a patio). The food is the same and so are the strong drinks. Do it

OK place and didn’t have any major issues. Seems like cocktails are their thing since they basically have the same beer selection as the airport but didn’t really seem to have an interesting selection of spirits either. Also, I would recommend adding something in the bathroom for drying hands.

Kudos to Cliff for establishing another bar after the Loon’s untimely demise due to Dallas’ need for another CVS.)-: In life the only constant is change. I want to like Cliff’s Place but alas, I think it is too soon for me not to compare it to the loon. Were none of the Loon’s bartenders hired for cliff’s place? been 2x’s and seen no familiar faces. Pours seem weaker. the big patio is nice. imagine the food remains the same tho have not partaken. 3 stars might go to 4… I will travel back occasionally. to smoke and have a patio drink. plus I believe people are trending to a more dive bar vibe and cliff fills a spot for that on mostly chi chi McKinney ave.

This is a nice neighborhood establishment that is not as «Uptowny» as the establishments around it. The owner and staff are nice personable people. They have plenty of out door seating with big screen TV’s. The drinks are nice and strong. One complaint… tonight I bought a quesadilla to go. When I got home I took one bite and felt a coarse hair on my tongue. I pulled the hair off of my tongue and examined it. It was short black and white and coarse. I think it was a rat hair. It was definitely a hair from an animal. I will come here again but I will never ever eat anything from here again. Rat hairs in my food just have a way of turning me off.

Their service was HORRIBLE. We had two different waitresses. I had a beer bottle and there was stuff floating in it, when I told her about it as nicely as possible, she blamed it on me sitting outside, took my beer, and chunked it in a trash can nearby and never replaced it… I will never come here again.

Great service, our waitress was new but still catered well to us and was friendly. I got the pork sandwich, although it wasn’t pulled pork like I assumed it would be it was excellent and I was impressed! Loved the patio atmosphere and the tater tots!

I’m a Pennsylvanian traveling though Dallas and discovered Cliff’s Loon Bar on McKinney. Great location and friendly atmosphere created from both wait staff, bartenders and patrons. The drinks are well worth the price and I was told that they pour the best in Dallas. I certainly cannot argue that point! Food was also great in terms of price/value. Watching carbs, I enjoyed the house salad(worth going back for) and veal marsala. Cliff’s Loon Bar is a must stop for the weary traveler!

Good: televisions inside and outside for watching sports. Bad: service. Slow and indifferent. Bad: the food. I had a burger which was way overcooked and poor quality.

I love this place for the good stiff drinks and amazing food but their service is what will hurt them. Asking 10 people if they were together and taking 45 min to split it up??? Have you ever waitressed in uptown? And forgot about two of the 5 orders when ordering food. However, the food was good as usual. Will be back, maybe with a smaller crowd…

Cliff’s aka The Loon’s new home is nice, a little bit small inside but now has a large patio facing McKinney Ave. The burgers are still delicious and there are a few new items on the menu. I’ll be back to check out the legendary heavy pour soon.

Strong drinks and great bar food. Ask for the secret menu item«Turbo Tots.» Extra extra crispy tots with chili and cheese, topped with jalapeños, bacon and chives. Mmmmmmm.

Nice strong cocktails, good beer choices and excellent bar food. Great location and nice sports bar. Excellent large screen televisions for sporting events. Nice and clean place. Great jukebox with plenty of selections. Very friendly staff. I have been twice in the past one week and have enjoyed both visits.

One word. LEGIT. Great food, strong pours, good service. It’s pretty much the loon in a nicer building with a great patio. Come here you will not be disappointed.

Worst service I’ve ever had…57 minutes to get a drink at the bar. Opening weekend with one bartender tending. Ridiculous. Will never return. They told us if we «don’t like the speed of service, then leave»
