This is my favorite happy hour in Dallas, so far. I googled«best happy hours in Dallas» before coming here and this was #2 on the list. Prices were cheap, around $ 2 – 3 a drink, and all appetizers were half off. I got the gouda dip and it was simply phenomenal. The drinks were also strong. I loved the Mardi Gras décor and the look of the place. I took a walk around and noticed the outdoor courtyard, too. Can’t wait to come back during warmer weather.

Interesting ambiance at this bar. We came here with a group one night and I wouldn’t say its the worst or the best. My vodka sour was not great by any means– whoever the bartender was did not know what they were doing. First and last drink there. I loved the oversize connect four– cute addition upstairs. It felt like this place went on forever with lots of rooms and perfectly creaky floors. Not my favorite bar, but worth a try. I would give it another chance.

This was the perfect spot for us to venture out to from the hotel in hopes of getting a glimpse of the Dallas bar scene while we in town. We ordered some wings, quesadillas and a couple beers and were totally satisfied. They even were offering free Jell-O shots that night so that was an even more added bonus to a spot we already thought was cool. There’s a ton of outdoor space so I know this place would have been super dope had we gotten the opportunity to experience in warmer temps. There’s also a cute little jukebox for folks to play any jams they wanna hear. Overall great first impression! Would definitely visit again.

Solid spot for a group event– they have a pretty good selection of beers and even better cocktails. Plus or minus on a super friendly vibe, but they are probably busy and consistent enough with their food/drinks that it’s a reasonable place to check out. I really like the upstairs bar– most of the bartenders are friendly and the space is nice. Lots of wood, some comfy couches, and some outdoor seating. I have mostly been there for large group events, so it can get quite loud, but the space upstairs works well because there is room to mingle and walk around. There is also a spinach/artichoke dip that is killer– I’m not sure if it’s coming from corner bakery or the bar itself! Definitely a good place to go with a group for a round of beers or cocktails if you’re just looking to get out for a bit or want to hang out somewhere before or after a dinner or show.

The place is cool as hell, the drinks are reasonably priced, and you can play over-sized Connect Four. What else do you need?

Not a huge fan of this place. Doesn’t have the same atmosphere as breadwinners and one time I was sat here for breadwinners brunch. Nothing like staring at a bar and disgusting stuff from last night during brunch! Have been here a few times at night for the bar and have had a good time. Except for the extremely rude bartender who was working last night who told me «there are lots of people in here who need to be served» when I didn’t know what I wanted to drink. He also asked my friend if she«knew where she was» when she ordered a drink with St. Germain. The main reason I am giving this review 3 stars is because of another bartender who was awesome. Shout out to Bill’s great service!

I like this bar. Everyone is eclectic and friendly, but tonight, on my second visit, I had a distinctly strange experience. I had been out before I got here and was deep into conversations on my phone… I ordered a drink and was served, but apparently the bartenders categorized me as hammered, which I wasn’t(I know, everyone says that…) and as I was sipping on my drink and texting, kept offering me water and food every five minutes. «Would you like some water? Are you sure?» «Would you like some more ice in your drink?» «Hey we have food, would you like a food menu?» «How about some more water?» «How about another water for the road! Can’t hurt!» Now to be fair, it was a dead night, and maybe they were bored and simply attempting to provide some excellent customer service which I misinterpreted. Also, I am sure they have a lot of customers who get just absolutely shit-faced and then go do something potentially litigious like run over new brides and babies, so being overly cautious is understandable with a new customer, but it rapidly started to feel more like I was hanging out with My Two Dads than bartenders. I finished half my drink and left, primarily because my phone was about to die. I still like this place and will give it another shot, and update my review accordingly.

This has a really different vibe than the rest of Uptown. The inside décor is really eclectic and fun and they have great outdoor patios on multiple floors. Every time i’ve gone they seem to be playing 80’s music(which i’m totally okay with). I’m a big fan of their Ragin’ Cajun cocktail.

ROOFTOPPATIOALERT! You know how I love those and get excited when I discover one in the DFDub. I’ve only ever come here for drinks and ordered from the bar so no complaints here about the service. Piggybacking off of what Benjamin said, he hit the nail on the head in describing it as a cool New Orleans vibe w/French Quarter style. That is the best way to put it. It’s dimly lit, definite pub feel, but lots of room upstairs and downstairs for groups. Our friends do an annual pub crawl every year on McKinney Ave and we always make sure to stop here. I am a french fry connoisseur, so next time I will be sure to try the VooDoo fries everyone raves about!

We happened upon this little gem while we were out exploring. They have a really diverse menu. There is something for everyone including kids. We sat on the patio and the weather was perfect. Our waitress was on it immediately. I had a burger and it was cooked to perfection. I really like the IPA I had! I wish I could go back again, but I was just in town visiting. If I come back to Dallas anytime soon I will definitely come here for brunch or lunch again.

I haven’t been here in years and was looking forward to going back for a birthday celebration on a Friday night. It has changed. Down side: Country music — «Cat repellant» was playing. Not continually, but once or 50 times– its not how I roll. One waiter for the ENTIRE place– who did an excellent job By the way! Upside: I still love the building and the quiet little nooks and crannies that it provides for a more intimate setting. The food(late night tacos) were really good.

Had an impromptu lazy Sunday with friends and ended up here after brunch, then ended up staying so long we ordered lunch! Low key and comfortable, busy off and on, drinks are good and the crowd is diverse. The bartenders Alfredo and Matt were good fun, let us try things and recommend new drinks. Alfredo made some of the best drinks we ever had– highly recommend his Moscow Mules, spicy Bloody Mary, and some kind of graham cracker shot. Their frozen blackberry lemonade was good too. You can order food from Breadwinners next door while you drink!

Confession: my first review for this place was actually for So&So next door. What a silly goose I am. Tonight, Jamie and I came here for Voodoo fries after a very mediocre supper experience at So&So. These fries were: A M A Z I N G These fries are ethereal goodness, overall on par with our other favorite loaded fries, the kimchee fries at BB Bop on Lower Greenville. This version offers up a perfect balance of hot McDonald’s-diameter fries, Siracha, queso, jalapeño gravy, crispy pork belly, and scallions. H E A V E N L Y The Happy Hour beer special is just okay, encompassing only mainstream, mass market American brewed swill. Open that up to your nice local microbrew offerings, and I am a five star fan.

Such a great place to catch up with friends for drinks and shoot some pool. I really like their upstairs outdoor patio. Good to be out on a cool night to catch some breeze. I was surprised by their music selection. Every song played brought back memories for me. If you’re looking for somewhere casual, chill atmosphere, add this to your list. I shall be back!

Went to the Quarter bar for the first time today and sat upstairs on the patio! Got amazing service and enjoyed the awesome happy hour deals. Such a great chill bar — definitely a must!

House party from the 60s feel. You’re in a big house with two bars. The up stores offers more space with a few games available. BTW there is only one pool table and it takes only quarters, possibly the reason for the bar… jk. Overall a nice hangout not to crowded like its neighbor«So So» bar. One warning is the bathrooms are singles and usually are queued with at least two people ready to flood the toilet. Women and Men downstairs just past the bar and one upstairs near the pool table and another near the upstairs bar.

Met up with some friend’s here to celebrate a birthday. I’ve been to the location in Addison many times and I must say I like this 1 better… it’s more laid back and less smoky LOL Just like the Addison location… the staff was very friendly and the drinks were reasonably priced. Great atmosphere! The bar wasn’t too busy because this was the night that all the bad weather started here in Dallas… but I’m pretty sure it’ll be packed on the weekends when Spring finally arrives! :-)

We’re basically around the corner from Quarter Bar, and it’s quickly become our hangout on the weekends. Nothing has really changed from my previous review– still cozy and inviting as usual but deserving of an extra star for the voodoo fries and the service. I am not a huge fan of the sometimes slow, impersonal service at breadwinners during peak brunch hours, but I am a fan of the Quarter Bar’s. The staff is always helpful and super nice. And thanks to our favorite waitress of all, Lauren, we discovered that we can still order the deliciousness that is Breadwinners from Quarter Bar’s side(downstairs) during brunch hours. it’s a win, win. Also— late night eats here are the best! If you haven’t had the voodoo fries, you’re missing out. Siracha, queso, jalapeño gravy, crispy pork belly, scallions and probably a bit of crack. So good!

Ah ha, the Quarter Bar. Like French Quarter, got it! I tend to expect bars and restaurants to have somewhat of an inflated, pretentious attitude in Uptown, which is fine if that’s your thing — but the Quarter Bar is refreshingly casual and welcoming. It’s kind of weird and festive with plenty of décor that pays homage to New Orleans. There’s many many rooms, stairs, and turns that make for great conversation. 3 levels worth! That means you can come back again and again for plenty of exploration and you have the ability to create a bit of privacy if needed. Do you want to sit on a couch, a barstool, or a pillow on the floor? Quarter Bar has it all. You can kind of just find the environment you want. Inside, outside, whatever. They’ve got some great specials listed on their website; different things going on different days, like ½ priced pizza on Monday and $ 2 wells/domestics until 10PM on Thursday. They have a whole menu of NOLA inspired drinks, so that’s fun, and their tiny wine menu is relatively comprehensive. And okay, I don’t know where the kitchen is in this place, but their food menu looks awesome. I want Spicy Bleu Cheese Potato Chips next time for sure. Bar apps, sandwiches, burgers, pizza — sounds generic but the descriptions/ingredients show a lot of thought. Fish and Chips with jalapeño coleslaw, Voodoo fries, yum.

The Quarter Bar is probably the most chill bar in uptown. If all you want is to get a drink and actually be able to hear what the person next to you is saying, then this is your place. It’s also a great place to take a group of people as it has plenty of seating. In addition to plenty of places to sit, there is a pool table upstairs(where there is another bar), and games like connect 4 to keep your group entertained. A good/bad thing about the place is that it’s all by itself. With West Village to the north and all the of other bars on McKinney to the south, this place makes it hard to barhop if that is your intention. However, like I said, if all you want to do is have a quiet evening, but still have a drink, then this place can’t be beat. One personal pet peeve of mine is that they serve Guinness out of a can. This is a shame. If you are going to choose to serve Guinness, then it’s a must that it be on tap. This place has all of the characteristics of a good pub, with its color and decoration, but as a Guinness lover, it’s very disappointing when this drink cannot be enjoyed on tap. That being said, one redeeming quality of the establishment is that it shares a kitchen with Breadwinners, so if you want some above average bar food, that is not a problem. Overall, I like The Quarter Bar every once in a while, and will continue to go if I all I want is a drink without all of the fuss associated with the rest of uptown.
