* They are closed in their uptown location, Sign says they are«moving» * Came here the first week they opened and their menu was limited and pricy for what you got in return. After a new GM took over they really came into their own, their menu added more choices than just a $ 9 hot dog. Now their dogs range from $ 6-$ 8.50 and are really very good. You will need a side which they have very tasty fries or mac and cheese to fill up on. They also have chicken sandwich and burgers. Their mushroom burger is great and a good size. I still would go next door to hook line and sinker if you are wanting a greasy big burger to grub on. Overall the décor and atmosphere is top notch and a great place to chill since they stay open late. They did get tvs for the patio but kinda pricey drinks to sit and watch a game.

Interesting concept and great location(where Lumi used to be on McKinney Ave). I had the bratwurst and banh mi hot dogs. They are very large portions so I probably could have just had one. The staff was really friendly and they seemed to have a lot of specials going on. I went during happy hour and if I recall correctly, each hot dog was like half offf. You can also find deals for them on Scout Mob. I heard they’re open late which is cool after a long night of drinking. To be honest, I haven’t been back since my first visit but not for any particular reason.

OK, my hubby and I went here about 6 weeks ago. WELOVEDIT! It is so cool and I am not a big hot dog fan. The drinks we great and the rustic atmosphere was great too. It was a nice lunch. Lots of creative recipes for their hot dogs. Interesting and delicious. I had the Croque Monseur. Ham, cheese, hot dog and on grilled french roll. YUMMY

I’m not a big fan of hot dogs but this place took over my friend’s old restaurant(Lumi) so I had to check it out. It just took me awhile! My friends who have been here have talked non-stop about the foie gras hot dog(which was called Duo of Duck on the menu). This was monthsssss ago. Sadly they took it off the menu because not a lot of people were ordering the $ 18 dog so I didn’t get to try it. It appears the menu has drastically changed over time because the menu I see online is not the menu I saw when dining there. Wine menu isn’t extensive but at least they have wine! I had a glass of cabernet — only one option but they had it! We started off with the mac & cheese as an appetizer. The mac & cheese here is unlike most other restaurants who use a white cheese. Bowery’s m&c is creamy and uses cheddar instead. I really enjoyed it. It was plain and simple but very delish. My friend & I choose one«classic» hot dog and one«traveler» hot dog — the Chicago Dog and the Corque Madame(the fried egg won us over). I’ve had an authentic hot dog from Chicago and although they didn’t taste similar, it was still very good. I preferred the Croque Madame over the Chicago. It had much more flavor in it — or maybe it was just the fried egg. It was so good though! We ended our meal with a banana pudding dessert which was also very good. I like how they sprinkle big chunks of vanilla wafers on top. My only complaint is that there weren’t many healthy sides to choose from. But now that I’m looking at the menu online, did I miss something? I’m reading they had kale chips and a veggie jar? Looks like I’m going back to make sure I didn’t miss anything! But for now, you only get 3 stars.

Gourmet hot dogs? Hell yeah! I remember coming to this location when it was Lumi, which was delicious but did not really stand out as spectacular. The renovations that they have done to the place are pretty cool. They knocked out the awkward walls that made it feel as if you were eating in someone’s house and covered everything in wood. They also have 2 bars that are only about 10 feet away from each other. Not bad Bowery, not bad. I had The Dutchman, which was tasty. All of the ingredients were very fresh, especially the bread. Oh that fresh bread. This is definitely a sausage on a baguette with waffle fries and bacon(with other, less important ingredients as well). I got to try The Mac, which was smothered in delicious macaroni and cheese. It tasted about how it sounds, famazing. The drink specials are pretty sweet during the weekend such as half price champagne cocktails on Saturday until 3:00 pm and buckets of domestic and import beers for a reasonable price. I’ll definitely be back.

This review is only for food, ambiance and service. No Food was consumed. Walked by 4 – 5 bars on Mckinney before we settled on The Bowery. It was the 50% off champagne drinks that sold me and $ 3 beer that my BF drinks that first drew our eye. The Bowery is in an inviting location in a cute house with comfortable wrap around porch. I order the Hummingbird and was knocked off my kiester! Amazingly delicious. I had two other drinks which were equally good and wanted to have more, but… dinner was calling and we weren’t going to eat hot dogs for our last dinner in Dallas. Around us were people and their dogs eating hot dogs, which is a little creepy when you think about it. Our waitress was attentive, kept our water full and ensured that we were not without drinks or chances to order food. I’ll be back to try a few more champagne drinks and people watch.

Too bad we landed on McKinney during the week and around 10pm, after a few hours of drinking, and many kitchens had just closed, BUT B is for BUT B is for Bowery B is for Blaring music — Carlos recalled it as a hip hop set list of some bad straight dance club from the late 90’s. Is that considered retro? B is for Bags(douche) B is for Bready — my sausage got lost in the great big bun of my hot dog. B is for bummer.

Even though the hotdogs were burnt and service slow, the owner made it right by comping our meals. Hope you last… This place has potential.

This place sucks, don’t waste your time. I had the Royal Wagyu dog and waffle cheese fries. The Wagyu dog had absolutely no flavor. Literally one of the worst hot dogs I’ve ever had, and I paid $ 10 for it. The $ 1 hot dogs at the ballpark taste better, and that’s saying something. Fries were ok, but very small portion. Like 10 – 12 waffle fry small. Not worth the money! Skip it!

I had high-hopes for this place, because I love hot-dogs. When I lived in Chicago, there were quite a few of these concepts and they were awesome! Not so much at the Bowery. I split onion rings, a toffee shake and a hot dog with my friend. Toffee Shake was thin with chunks of toffee at the bottom, needed more blending and more ice cream. Rings were ok. They have a big selection of ketchup, that was cool… hot-dog, nothing special. This place is over-priced and doesn’t deliver on food.

Bow down to the Bowery. This adorably understated, but incredibly charming spot makes for an excellent addition to the Uptown/McKinney Avenue scene. Sitting on the patio on a delightful sunny, fall day made me light up with joy that I we have such amazing restaurants with not just delicious food, but wonderful amenities, as well. Like a wrap around porch that overlooks the fun, hustle and bustle of McKinney Avenue. Though, I didn’t step foot inside, I can’t speak for the interior, but our server was very sweet and patient as we surveyed the sausage-filled menu. Each dog was allocated a category that into which the menu was broken down. You have your gourmet dogs, you have your healthy dogs, you have you classic dogs, naked dogs, high brow dogs, and ever better — they offer salads! I know, I know… lame. Why would I be excited about a salad at a hot dog joint, but after the breakfast I had earlier that day, I had to cool it on the consumption or would balloon up and float away. The salad I chose was only $ 5 for a generously sized bed of greens, fresh strawberries, walnuts, and cotija chese — which was probably my favorite part of the salad. Okay, stay tuned for my update when I actually devour a hot dog like a champ!

The place lacks attention to the detail in their food and appears that they spent more money and attention on the décor rather than their food. Here are my observation from dining at Bowery’s. The water we ordered had a slight taste of soap/detergent. The glass cup did not smell clean and had a lingering smell of overly loaded dish washer. Then we ordered the Kale chips and couple of hotdogs. Honestly, it seemed a bit pricey; 7 dollars for a hotdog?!? I get it if they had Gouda cheese or truffle oil within their ingredients. So it seemed a bit too risky to order the 18 dollar hotdog without trying the basics. People have been raving about these Kale Chips so we ordered them. Sad to say, we were very disappointed with this order. Kale has generated a buzz around the industry as a ‘super’ food packed with nutritional value. Bowery’s cooked their Kale Chips in oil and the chips were soaking in oil. After a handful of chips, your stomach felt like the oil spill in the Gulf. We then ordered the Chicago Dog, the proportions were all wrong, they toasted a massive bun that seemed like a french bread. The encased meat seemed a bit excessive and you couldn’t really taste the garnished veggies. This hotdog was all meat and toasted bread. Bowery’s needs to find their identity. If they want to succeed as a gourmet hotdog restaurant, they cant simply enlarge everything and serve it to their customers. They failed in all areas; taste, quality, and display. If they dont find their identity soon, they will be out of business.

With a late night hot dog spot just down McKinney in the heart of Uptown, it is hard for me to understand why ANOTHER opened up on the same street. Sure, they are different but at the heart of the matter they both serve up hot dogs. Bowery is supposed to be the«upscale» hot dog spot in town and although the décor is that out of old New York the food just doesn’t deliver. The fact that when you first walk in all the condiments and sauces are facing the line to order makes no sense and is a little gross thinking of all the people who stand next to it all day long. The people who worked the registers when I’ve been have been more than clueless. There is supposed to be these great cocktails and as other people have commented«the bartenders rock» it is hard to get to try any drink when the cashiers dont know how to ring in drinks. Yea… I was expected to order my food at the register and then leave my table to go order my drinks from a bartender who didnt even have a register. HUH? I was so put out by the time I sat at my table I had my fingers crossed that the food was going to be awesome so that I could forget how much I already disliked it. Unfortunately for Bowery, the food was mediocre at best. My table had the Moroccan dog which was overly spiced and dripping with watery sauce. The other dogs were bland and made me wish I would have stopped at Lowe’s for the $ 1 hot dog rather than spend $ 8 on rubbish. We also ordered a side of onion rings and it arrived at our table with 3 rings, 3!!! If they were giant it would be different but they were average sized and I thought we were being pranked. With that said, when we did finally get our cocktails they were delicious and strong. In my opinion Bowery should stick to what it’s good at and wipe out the kitchen to expand the already-teeny tiny dining room into a full blown bar only and then they may be able to survive for over a year in Uptown.

everytime i go there it takes forever to get a drink or a hotdog. So far, it’s worth the waiting, the hotdogs are awesome and the cocktails are amazing . The staff need better training, small things are just as important as the big ones, they are all nice and very friendly but it becomes ridiculous when you have to ask 2, 3 times for salt, for example. Food is good, the drinks are great, its totally worth a try

The bartenders and staff at the Bowery rock!!! Charlie, Thomas, Emilie and Clay are all awesome! I enjoy stopping by the Bowery for a champagne cocktail and a snack! The Bowery has a great«craft» cocktail menu — both beer and champagne cocktails! I haven’t tried all of the Hot Dogs at the Bowery, but the«mac & cheese» dog is too die for!!! I also really enjoy the Corn dog! Best of all are the sauces the Bowery offers to compliment their food! They have a «house» mustard that seems to me to be a mixture of yellow mustard and relish — it is YUMMY! They also have special ketchups: sweet, smokey and spicy. The smokey ketchup is my favorite, but even better — ask your server for an empty ramiken and then mix all 3 of the ketchups together!!!

I am in love with this place… definitely my new, favorite hangout! I went here with a friend last night and we had a great time! The décor is very cool, the bartenders are amazing, the champagne cocktails were well made and unique and the hot dogs were tasty! The Mac was incredible… a hot dog with mac ‘n cheese on top — how can you go wrong? The blueberry foam, belgium fizz and sangria sparkler were all amazing. Get to this place fast… it is that good! Champagne and hot dogs = winner!

I was really hopeful for a new concept in the West Village… something fun in walking distance to my house! Yet again… let down. I think maybe that location is cursed… Lumi disappointed and so did The Bowery.(I give it 6 months-1 year). I have to give a star to the décor, really cool vibe and great atmosphere. Cool little bar. But…yet again nothing on the menu that offers a healthier version of the hot dog. I expected to see soy dogs… or at least a turkey dog on the menu. They only have pork, beef, chicken(but only battered and fried) and duck. I ordered the portabella dog(two mushrooms with asian style onions, carrots and red peppers) on a wheat bun. Def not worth 8 bucks… are you kidding me! Also, an odd blend of flavors. My BF ordered the buffalo dog… battered chicken, blue cheese, celery(they were out) in hot wing sauce. He was also disappointed, the flavors were good but not worth the $ and not very filling. On the side we had the sweet potato tots… again a let down. We could only eat a few before we felt nauseous… something was off. All in all…$ 27 for two«dogs», one side and two beers. I may not be inventive but I would come back if they added a turkey dog with the options to build your own dog.(add toppings customized to the guests taste). Also, max amount I would pay for a dog is $ 5.50−6…not $ 8-$ 10+ for a 5 – 6 inch dog that I could make at home. Please and thank you.

Hot Dogs! Get Your Gourmet Hot Dogs! I’m not a huge fan of hot dogs. They don’t usually excite me. However, Bowery’s menu looked tempting with a new twist on gourmet hot dogs. They didn’t have a full menu posted on their website yet but I saw a couple of photos online and it was enough to get me in the door. Bowery has taken over the space that was formerly Lumi and it definitely doesn’t feel like the same place. The décor is well done with warm wood planks from floor to ceiling. The ceiling is plastered in vintage New York photography and custom Edison-themed lighting. They’ve got a unique service set where you order at the counter and they bring your food to your table plus a full bar. On the night we were there, we had a server who took both our food and drink orders. The menu at Bowery features quite a variety of gourmet hot dogs like the Moroccan and the Overstuffed Dutchman as well as jazzed up classics like the Bowery Brat. Their sides include onion rings, waffle fries doused in cheese, and sweet potato tater tots. I opted for the Overstuffed Dutchman which was a beef brat in a baguette bun soaked in Gouda scream sauce, and topped with bacon crumbs, chives, and waffle fries. Did I say I didn’t like hot dogs? I changed my mind. The Dutchman was a bit of a mess to scarf down but it was worth all the extra napkins. There was a mixed consensus around our table about the hot dogs. Some said the Bowery Brat was bland but the Overstuffed Dutchman and Croque Madame were well-liked. The waffle fries soaked in cheese were undeniably delicious. As far as cocktails, we sampled a couple of the beer cocktails plus the mojito which were a hit as well. Overall, I’d consider Bowery a hit. The service was friendly and the management was engaging. They seemed very interested in connecting with patrons and making everyone happy. The food isn’t terribly healthy so it will have to be a guilty pleasure for me. They are now open for lunch so this certainly could be a new weekday lunch treat for me. I think I hear those waffle fries calling me now. Well done!

The owners really transformed the the space into a really cool, modern neighborhood hangout. They don’t have typical table-service. You order at the front and runners bring your food out. There is also a small bar off to the side. As for the menu, if you haven’t guessed, its all gourmet hotdogs. They range from $ 5(just a plain ol’ dog), to $ 18 for their Duck version. I tried the Chicago and my boyfriend had the Brat. I liked everything about my dog(fresh vegetables, lots of mustard & the peppers) except for the bread. The bread was stale in the sense that it totally fell apart the minute I picked it up. My sister showed up a little after we started eating, and when she got her Chicago dog, the bread did the exact same thing! Anyway, bread aside, the dog was good. Really tasty. The Brat was pretty good too. Not the best Brat I’ve ever had, but definitely not bad. Sides run about $ 3 each; We tried the sweet potato tater tots and the onion rings. Rings were kinda soggy, but tater tots were really good. I also like that they have a condiment station with different flavors of ketchups, mustards, and relishes. Here’s where they lost me… drink prices! $ 6 for a draft, $ 8 for a beer cocktail? Seriously, you are serving hot dogs! All in all, our experience was good, not amazing. Between me and my boyfriend, we spent $ 40(two dogs, two sides, two alcoholic drinks). Anymore drinks and we would have been in the $ 30-$ 40 per person range.
