I’m flabbergasted that any patron of Manny’s would give this diner more than one star. The food is awful! I’ve been there a number of times, because, for some unknown reason, my friend likes Manny’s. I’ve suffered through rubber tires(Manny’s menu states they are hamburgers), tuna fish that smelled fishy, and the topper, some piece of tough, cold meat(I don’t even want to remember what kind of meat), and cold, pasty mash potatoes that I’d bet dollars to donuts were instant and microwaved(but I think their microwave was broken that night, probably from over use!). I told my friend I had it. I would never go back to this place, and encourage every diner lover(or anyone who requires substance) to stay away. If you do enter this forbidden zone, say Grace. You’re going to need all the help you can get to choke down their garbage. Want an alternative in the area? Anyplace. From the White Diamond on the corner of Central Ave. and Raritan Rd. to the guy who sells hot dogs from a lunch wagon.

To start the place is beautiful and amazingly big. Went for breakfast twice, I didn’t write a review the 1st time, cause I wanted to give it a 2nd chance. Pancakes were ordered both times,(blueberry), they were bad both times, super dry and tough to chew, and the blueberries were a sloppy mess. My other friend ordered chocolate chips pancakes, way overloaded with chocolate chips as well as the dry pancakes. Turkey sausage and turkey bacon were good. Several things we got weren’t what we asked for, asked for French fries instead of hash browns, didn’t get them, asked for dry toast, it was heavily buttered, my friends root beer came out with no ice, that threw me for a curve ball. Home fries were bland and dry. Our waitress friendly. The portions are plentiful I will say that. Bathroom needs to scrub, not bad, but enough to notice stains on the wall. I may go back 1 more time to try like lunch or dinner, maybe.

The best diner around. Really good food, large portions, a very diverse menu stocked with diner staples and extensive daily specials. Might seem a bit pricey for a diner but this is a beautiful place located in Clark…’nuff said. This place is exceptionally well maintained and always as clean as can be. Large portions and quality of the food more than make up for the prices. Hard to find a negative with any of the food… breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Good soups and salads plus some very tasty dessert offerings round things out nicely. There is also a fully and interestingly stocked bar to satisfy your beer, wine, or cocktail desires. Management, for the most part(perhaps an exception or two) is pleasant, attentive and accommodating. If there is anything holding back that 5th it would be the service. It can be spotty and slow at times, depending on who is serving your table. All in all this is a great stop for whatever, whenever you crave it. Looking forward to my next meal at Manny’s…P.S. any chance of bringing back the weekend breakfast buffet?

I went there as I pretty much always do this past Saturday night with my family. We normally spend approximately $ 80 plus the tip. On a whole the food is usually a 3 – 4. The service and proximity keep us coming back. The manager is always walking the floor to be sure everything is ok. This last Saturday night was a bad one for Mannys. I’ve been in business for more than 25 years. Everyone is entitled to a bad day. I think how you handle it is what defines the type of business you are. I’ll let you judge the positives and negatives of my experience. I’m not exactly sure what the problem was but we waited approximately 45 minutes for a wrap, a burger and a chicken dish. The chicken never came out and the burger and wrap came out ice cold. The waitress and hostess were very apologetic and took everything back. 5 minutes later the same wrap and burger came back obviously reheated and pretty nasty. Again the waitress and hostess came over and were very apologetic and offered us all free meals. I politely declined. I was done and wanted to leave. We honestly weren’t even hungry anymore. As I was leaving I saw the manager eating at the bar. Now I know he works very hard. I didn’t want to interrupt his dinner but I wanted him to know what occurred. As I explained the story to him he said I was wrong. He said he personally went into the kitchen to refire my wrap and burger. I wasn’t going to argue with him but the food that cam back to my table was more than obviously the same food that left a few short minutes ago. I give a rating of a 2 for my prior experiences of normally a 4. The last experience was truly a triple 000.

One of the biggest menus I’ve ever seen. Pretty good diner food with really good muffins and bakery items. Place is large so there is rarely a wait. One of the best diners around since the galaxy in Rahway turned to crap. Frequent diner.

Good diner. Quality is better than most diners in the area. When we initially moved to NJ, I thought eating at diners meant large quantity but sucky food. But Manny’s is okay. I recommend their BLT(they give you lots of thick bacon) and their greek salad is excellent. We also enjoy turning point in Westfield downtown and a bit further out Raymond’s in montclair and sweet basil in livingston.

The food is excellent for a diner BUT the manager at the register never acknowledged me paying the check! $ 45 and not a hello, thank you or have a good evening. He was having a conversation with a coworker about his mothers gift. So disrespectful to any customer!!! What is happening to classic business courtesies? I prefer to spend my money where I am appreciated. Wake up guys.

Manny’s Diner has changed. The menu is the same but the food isn’t as good as it used to be when they first opened. It’s not bad but it’s not anywhere close to great. I guess three stars is fair. It’s not as if the food is inedible. It’s just very average and it was once so much better. I recently had a take out dinner from Manny’s. They put the hot food into those styrofoam containers and everything gets soggy from the steam. I get take out a lot from restaurants and the better ones are using boxes rather than styrofoam. But even if my fries weren’t soggy to the point of being limp and tasteless, the rest of the meal wasn’t much to brag about. The prices at Manny’s are way too high for the quality of the food. Back when they first took over, Manny’s food was excellent. Not so anymore. I think the owners might want to take a look at what’s changed in the past 18 months or so and sort it out. I’m not sure I will be coming back to Manny’s. I have no problem paying for great food but I don’t intend to pay for so-so food anymore. There’s a lot of great places to go that have excellent food. Bring back the Windsor Diner!!!

This is a go to when I’m with the family in Jersey. Diners are a New Jersey staple, and Manny’s does a solid job of living up to the name of a diner. The menu is endless, looking at it will take you a good 10 minutes. You can probably just pick something off the top of your head that you’re in the mood for and it’s on the menu. They are also very good at making changes/substitutions/additions. My go-to’s are an omelette, turkey burger, or tuna salad sandwich on rye and they are all delicious. Make sure you order your home fries well done though. Or just do what I do and order sweet potato fries. The only reason that this gets 3 stars is because their service is incredibly slow. Even on an empty late-night, for some reason their kitchen takes a good amount of time to bring out your food. I’ve also had not the greatest service here, but obviously depends on the waiter. The kitchen frequently makes mistakes but are very accommodating if you tell them. I’ll always been going here, however will probably never switch up my menu choices. It’s a good staple to have in the area.

I hadn’t been here since before new management. The pancakes came out pretty tough — I couldn’t easily cut through with the knife I had. The breakfast sausage included a kielbasa link — not what I had wanted.

An excellent diner. I have had both breakfast and dinner and both were great. For breakfast I had 2 eggs, hash browns, and turkey bacon which was delicious. For dinner I had the Reuben which was very good. They served it open-faced with a lot of cheese. I had to take out half of the sandwich, My relatives had the turkey club and patty melt which they said were excellent. The turkey club supposedly used turkey that was just that perfect balance between moist and dry that makes the turkey on clubs great.

Service is a bit slow but that’s because it’s a crazy Sunday morning so it’s understandable. Breakfast here is always delicious. Love the broccoli and cheese omelette! And I don’t know why but their toast is always amazing. Awesome Espresso bar as well. I enjoy coming here.

I stopped at Manny’s for breakfast with friends. We ordered omelettes and coffee and receive their meals very quickly. I ordered the feta omelette while my dining partner ordered the western omelette. I was disappointed with how much feta was — or really wasn’t in it. The eggs were brown which is not my idea of an omelette but that seems to be the style here. The omelette came with a side of home fries although the menu said we could’ve gotten grits but we weren’t offered. Portions were very large. Toast choices were white, wheat, or rye and came already buttered. I have to say that the coffee was very fresh and that the service folks did everything to keep the cups full. It really wouldn’t be a destination for me but it was a very convenient spot for me to meet up with friends as I was traveling through the area as it is located just off the Garden State Parkway. One thing I’ll have to say for the place is that it’s extremely clean and well taken care of. Be advised that they play lots of loud music and when the place is crowded it gets pretty loud.

I’ve been coming to this diner since I was a little kid and have seen it go through all it’s management and name changes. Anyone remember the terrifying Windsor Diner hiatus and then horrible Johnny K’s that came from it? Granted this place has always been family owned and managed — and even at its worst, it was still better than the Galaxy Diner in Rahway. Manny’s dinner is your typical NJ diner. It’s nice and clean on the inside and serves breakfast all day. It carries all the standard diner staples and I’m rarely disappointed with anything I order. The only downside is that I have ordered the same thing(chicken and waffles) multiple times with different servers and have been charged differently each time.

Visited For the first time Sunday for breakfast with some friends, waitress kept forgetting items, and would then disappear for long periods of time. The food was even more bland and starchy than I had imaged it would be, and to top it off we were unknowingly charged for coffee refills, which is unheard of in a diner. I can’t really blame them, I should have known better in the first place. Finding a «great» diner in Jersey(or in this case«passible»), especially in Union county is like finding a leprechaun riding a unicorn… impossible. If you must visit this place, PLEASE check your bill carefully for errors, especially in a larger group.

Food was bland, needs in huge improvement. The veal was like a fine piece of rubber. The guacamole was very watery. I don’t think I’ll be going back! We had our son with us and after being there for about 20 minutes, I had to ask if they had any crayons for him. Wherever we go it’s automatically given to us.

My wife and I live in the area and have ordered from here before. However recently first time eating in. So my low star count isn’t so much because of the food, which is always delicious and well prepared. Had eggs Benedict this time around… some of the best I’ve ever had. Unfortunately I have to harp on the service. I’ve been involved in the restaurant industry for over 20 years. And although I’m not expecting white glove 5 star service with champagne being uncorked by sabre, I am expecting that the staff comply with the basic 3 rules of service applicable to any food service establishment. 1. Pay attention to what the guest orders, and make sure the respective dish is presented to the appropriate guest. It’s off putting to just have a plate of food put in front of you and then the guests having to play plate shuffle. This is what happened to us. 2. Don’t remove any plates from the table until you ensure that all guests are done with their meal. In our case the server swoops in to grab my wife’s plate no sooner is her fork down… but I’m still eating. What’s the rush? 3. Until all guests have stopped eating, and all plates are removed, and server has absolutely guaranteed that guests are all done and do not want anything else, do not bring the check. Well, wasn’t it awesome when I’m still eating and the waitress comes around, asks very shyly if we wanted anything else and didn’t even give me a chance to respond before putting the check on the table and wishing us a nice day. Maybe I did want something else, maybe I would have gotten a piece of pie, maybe my wife would have gotten another hot chocolate… we’ll never know and Manny’s lost the chance to increase the check. I suggest the management spend a little time training their wait staff… I’m for hire if you’d like.
