Just here for breakfast. Good service & food. Place is falling apart. Seats and tables need replacing and rug is worn out. Cleaning is poor, stains in salt shaker and sugar dispenser, this place needs an overhaul.

Great service, from hostess, to wait staff to bus boys. DELICIOUS food! Daughter had chicken francais with spinach and rice and split pea soup. I had the pork chops with carrots and potatoes with chicken noodle soup. Most flavorful soups we’ve ever had at a restaurant/diner ever! And the main course was cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend here to everyone.

This is another typical NJ diner except not being open for 24 hours. They have lots to choose from. The staff was very nice and the food came out in a timely matter. I ordered the chicken croquettes($ 12.95). This came with a salad, potato, vegetable, and dessert. I also tried pea soup, potato pancakes, and a ham and cheese Panini. I had a house salad with oil and vinegar. The ingredients seemed like they were out for a little bit, but a decent size for the meal. I had a baked potato. The potato was not cooked enough so it was a little hard. For a vegetable, I had corn. The corn was a little bland, but bearable because I love corn regardless. There were 2 chicken croquettes. They were served with some gravy, which was needed. The croquettes seemed to be cooked too long and were very crunchy. The filling was good though. The gravy made this dish average. Without the gravy, the dish would have been a huge disappointment. The croquettes were on a small pile of mashed potatoes, which were pleasant. The jello was strawberry I believe. I mean it is jello so it was alright as I am not a big fan of it. The pea soup was very good. It was surprising that it had no ham, but it was tasteful regardless. The homemade potato pancakes were blah. There was just something not right about them. The ham and cheese Panini was blah too. It just did not do it for me. It was very plain. Will I go back? 3 time diner rule so yes.

Food is good here. They got a wide range so this is the place to if you do not know what to order. Everyone I had here was nice.

Honestly the food is OK. But how tacky for a diner to refill Heinz ketchup bottles with some other kind of ketchup. Either that or they water it down. Are times really that tough for the rustic mill? Also these strange water carafes with dirty lids and stacked cups delivered to your table is just wrong. I’ll just take a glass of water delivered full to the table.

Typical dinner food the serves was just okay and the food was nothing to write home about. Can’t say I’ll give this place another chance.

Joined some old friends for«coffee and». Very good service. The waitress was very attentive knowing that we were just hanging out. We ordered lunch which was very good. They had a soup & half sandwich special. I had the manhattan clam chowder with a half crabmeat salad sandwich. They use sirimi for their crabmeat salad, but it was still very good and quite a bit.

Everything you imagine in a Jersey diner except friendlier than usual service and not open 24 hours. Good breakfast!

worst food I ever had. The French onion soup had no flavor and was inedible. I ordered the turkey dinner with gravy on the side and it was covered with gravy. Came with corn which was creamed with very little corn – all sauce.

Oh my god, what a dump, poorest diner food in the area, I got off an airplane from Mexico and it was late, figured we would stop here on the way home cause it was late. Ordered chicken salad, was brown and smelled like a week old, I asked the waitress, «would you eat this, she just rolled her eyes». I then ordered a burger, oh my awful, would have been way better off hitting Mickey D’s on way home. Go to the Kenilworth Diner if you want a great diner experience.

This was the worst diner experience. The people were beyond rude. Food was bad and the restaurant was dirty. With so many other diners and awesome restaurants in the area go else where. Do not waste your money. Go to Mannys or the Westfield Diner.

This is a Jersey diner, and there are really no surprises. The staff are super nice. A friend of mine made the mistake of going out without a coat one winter and arrived frozen. The hostess didn’t even have to be told what was wrong and got her to a seat with a hot drink as soon as she walked in the door.

This is a diner that gets the little things right. At first, I wasn’t sure if they were open, but as dinner hour moved on, the place started to fill up. I ordered the roast chicken dinner special and ate like a king for 11 bucks. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned and the other sides were delicious and abundant. Topped it off with a rice pudding for desert which was excellent. Waitstaff is much more friendly and attentive than most other places I’ve been to lately. Unpretentious décor and comfortable seating. Will go back, a very good value.

very nice wait staff that was very attentive. The food is always good. I’m really not too fond of the greek saad though, the dressing was just anything but greek and it was missing a lot of the essential greek salad elements. I go there with the kids once in a while and the place is comfortable for families and the prices are very reasonable.

I ordered a to go breakfast here with a friend before we went on an astronomy trip for school(UCC). The sandwich was okay. Honestly, nothing to rave about. The décor was your typical diner experience. I probably wouldn’t stop in again.

Best pea soup I’ve ever had but the rest of the food can be overly greasy(even for a diner). The staff is very nice and they remember their regulars. Plenty of parking and never had to wait for a table. Great breakfast food too.

This place looks like it stopped in time in the 60’s… bright, vast rooms, interesting mix of booth and table seating. The first weird detail was the tiny bathroom for such a large number of tables. We were alone in the restaurant around 9pm Friday night, then it really started to fill up. We only had three cups of tea and two appetizers… tea cups a little grimy looking, and I am not too picky… stuffed mushrooms on the other hand were served gorgeously! A+ for a big carafe of Ice water with a slice of lemon placed on the table… I never saw that before at a diner and was very impressed! Waitress attentive and efficient … few words and get the job done. This was fine. Prices are in keeping with diner prices in the area(which is to say they are somewhat over priced for what you are getting, in my opinion) with some surprisingly reasonable prices tucked in — on Belgian Waffles for instance… under five dollars. I suspect this is a good place to hang and talk, and drink the endless cup of coffee… but I have to say that the coffee cups were really off putting — no carafe of hot water or tea pot, jut the teabag in the cup, and no offer to refill. I would love to give it more stars for that great diner look, and general cleanliness, but I am a waitress and I would never have put such a grimy looking cup in front of a customer.

We kind of had to eat here because we were starving and mostly everything else was closed or closing. The service was unfriendly. The food was very mediocre. And it really grosses me out that they reuse water pitchers without washing them. No thanks!

I go from Elizabeth(my town) to Westfiled(where my Trader Joe’s is located) often, so the path takes me past the Rustic Mill every time. Looking at its rather modern looking exterior has caught my eye more than once. Finally I decided to check it out with my girlfriend in tow. It’s obvious the Rustic Mill has been renovated in recent time. Its exterior is a nice, modern beige color and its sign is bold red. Inside is a fairly standard diner setup complete with a bar with stools, several booths in the front and a wider seating area in the back. I took note that most of the people around us were regulars and the staff was super friendly. We came in time to take advantage of their brunch special. For less than $ 10, you get a breakfast style dish with a side of potatoes and a dessert along with a fruit salad and drink. It’s a heck of a steal if you’re looking for cheap eats. I ordered the«Philadelphian» which was basically two poached egg on an english muffin with a hollaindaise type sauce on top with bits of corned beef inside. My girlfriend ordered the«Oscar Benedict» which was similar, but had asparagus and crab instead of corned beef. Both were delicious and very filling, but shockingly enough the corned beef turned out to be our favorite. The bits of corned beef were delicious and the muffins were toasted well. The eggs were beautifully done, with just the right amount of runniness, yum! The fruit salad was«okay», not too great. The pineapple looked a bit sad but the grapes were awesome. The coffee was good and the rice pudding was tasty(but oddly missing raisins). For its value and tastiness, the Rustic Mill gets my vote as a good place to visit for a good, cheap meal with good service.
