once you step into this place you’re treated with a warm welcome by their staff. I was seated right away, and attended by our waitress. I ordered the blueberry pancakes which were huge and delicious, along with the homefries. their prices are fair, and I look forward to coming back to try lunch!

The food was not good and the service was horrible. The women who rung me up not only did she not speak a word to me, even when I said thank you, but after she swiped my card she threw it on the table. I was standing right next to her and she couldn’t even hand it to me! Then after I sign their copy she throws my receipt on the table as well! So disrespectful! She looked like she didn’t want to be there and with an attitude like that she shouldn’t.

Liked this place in the past but no longer. Denied seating at 8:30pm. They close at either 9 or 9:30. The service is fairly quick and so am I so sending us away is a dumb move. If you don’t like to work long hours you should not be in the food business. Average food to boot.

I like this diner a lot, but the stunt pulled today to get my family(visiting from South Carolina) and I to move so they could turn over our table was ridiculous. We overheard a gentleman(presumably the owner) ask our waitress if she had closed out our table. She said yes and pointed to the check. Not 5 minutes later he came to our table and tried to tell us our daughter(1.5 yrs old) would die from eating the crayons we were playing with(while we were watching her mind you). He took the crayon out of her hand and caused a 25 minute sh*t fit that my husband and i could have dealt without. They’re busy enough, no need to cause a temper tantrum to turn over a table. Poor management.

We’ve been coming here for years and it’s the best diner in the area — consistently good food and lots of choices. The soups are homemade and the lentil is amazing. The owners are friendly and welcoming.

Pathetic. This place should really either completely reinvent itself or close. We tried it three times, each time giving them the benefit of the doubt. It’s a real shame because this restaurant is in the heart of downtown Westfield(where you’d hope local business would enhance your town’s reputation). Our food was consistently mediocre. For good diners in the area, try Manny’s in Clark or Turning Point in downtown Westfield.

horrible! the waitress gave the wrong order and when I simply asked to just only remove something and bring it back, they never did! i really wish that they would hear us more and get the orders right. Never going there again.

Love this place for a Sunday morning breakfast. Always busy but the food arrives quickly. Quality is good with generous portions. Been going here for years and have never been disappointed.

Can’t help but to consistently love the homemade soup at this casual, busy, bustling, classic, reliable diner in inviting Westfield. The lentil is better than at many fine dining establishments. I enjoy seeing a busy, popular business and this certainly is. Good specials, tasty diner food, fast and fresh, — recommended.

Let me start by saying that we’ve been dining here for 6 years. By far, the best thing on the menu is the pumpkin pancakes(seasonal availability) — which is why we keep coming back for so many years. The diner is kid friendly and always quick. As a general statement, the breakfast food is too greasy and the eggs are average. The restaurant isn’t super clean but it’s fast and consistent. Today we had lunch there and the Matzo Ball Soup was great(as always). However, I ordered a refill on my $ 2.10 Cherry Coke and asked to take it to go. Incidentally, I was charged $ 2.50 for that refill(don’t forget I have to pay for the cheap plastic cup). I was wildly disappointed by the attitude of the host in addition to the ridiculousness of paying $ 4.60 for 2 cokes consumed by 1 guest. Last time I checked, this wasn’t NYC. Note to self, refills and to go cups are free at other breakfast places just around the corner. Wildly disappointed, Vicki’s diner…

Love me some Vickis. Its my go to local pancake spot. The kids love it and in an area with several diner choices it is the best. For dinner grab a turkey dinner and the desserts are also underrated.

I gave this place a couple of tries but I’m pretty confident I’m done. The food is consistently bad and the servers are usually crabby. I once ordered eggs Benedict that came out without any hollandaise sauce. I asked the server if I could have it and she said«oh, you wanted that?» Um yes, that’s what makes them eggs Benedict. The«waiting area» is awful. In the nice weather you can wait outside but in the winter or rain, everyone just crowds in the doorway which makes it hard for people coming or going, and annoying to the patrons eating because everyone is hovering over them. I’m assuming this place stays busy because it’s been around forever and it’s affordable for families.

Food is good, nothing ever wrong with it but nothing particularly amazing. My omelette was fine but no seasoning. Standard salads. Nothing to write home about. Service is eh… Our waitress repeatedly brought us other peoples food even though we had just put our order in with her not a minute ago. Place gets packed on Sundays so as we’re finishing up the owner, waitresses and busboys are looking over us trying to clear our table as we’re eating. I understand. They need to move it along so the people waiting can sit. So just be prepared to eat and head out… Not a lounge around and chat over coffee type of scene. The woman at the register was my biggest issue honestly. Kind of pushy, got irritated that we were gonna leave cash tip instead of on the card and that I asked to see the itemized receipt again to pay my friend back. Ultimately. This diner is OK but there are better in the area and less crammed.

I have been to this diner several times, it is such an old-fashioned, good-feeling, chilling out place. The service is fast, not the friendliest server, but works super fast. The food is nothing extra special but is very comforting. I love their waffle, I don’t know why but it taste so awesome! Their burgers are pretty big and nice too. The owner is always around, checking on tables, chatting with customers, welcoming everyone, which is really sweet. Be aware: it is CASHONLY — there are few places to get cash from ATM. The first time I went, I didn’t know this, and realized AFTER I already ate my lunch… and I didn’t have Debit card either(only credit card). They were so sweet to me, and told me to just bring the money sometimes that week, or mail to to them if I can’t go back there. They didn’t make me feel bad at all, and of course, it made me want to go back again and again!

Clean place and service is fast. They are kid friendly and have nice crayons and coloring books for the little ones. Only down side was the waitress. She didn’t know what a hoagie or sub was, not familiar with the menu and took our order to the wrong table. In addition, she stopped and sat at the counter twice to count her tips. Having been a waiter, that is not something I would do, just unprofessional. Bottom line, food good, server bad…

The following is, in my opinion, an example of inappropriate owner behavior, a step away from one of Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. I had previously given this diner a fair review and have always been happy and polite to people. However, as I was leaving in a crowd, this noon, and asked a patron blocking the door: «Excuse me, dear, you’re right in the doorway…» in a friendly tone, she smiled and jumped out of the way, she being about 13. However, her out of control parent rushed over angrily, accosted me physically and threatened to kick my ass for telling her«…you’re right in the doorway». He insisted I couldn’t say that to HIS daughter. I asked him why he didn’t move her when I first said«Excuse me, dear», he instead got in my face an inch away and threatened me again. I said: «Hey, knock yourself out, but right now I feel like calling the cops or talking to P(the owner)», and I tried to dodge him, but he got in my way again so I planted my feet. He seemed to pale a bit as I said: «I’m not leaving until you apologize or I’ll call the cops» and he started screaming at me to «Just walk away, get the F out of here you a**hole!», then runs over to P(THEOWNER) and says: «Get this guy the F outta here!» The owner, P, uncomprehending of the situation, runs over and demands I leave or be banned from Vicki’s(oh «woe is me»). I said: «Peter, I did nothing, this guy attacked me out of the blue and threatened me!» To which Peter screamed at me to just leave, I said: «Man, I really want to call the cops, this is ridiculous!», still in a polite tone, and he shouts: «You call the cops, you’re banned, call them outside» and«We’re done, just get out! This is my restaurant». Apparently, P the owner, can be a real jerk and a half. Meanwhile, still blocked by patrons entering, I had to ask them to step aside, so I could leave. In my opinion: An example of an out of control owner and an out of control restaurant. This appears to happen daily, the place is too small and the crowd doesn’t know to wait on the street as the owner lets them lounge in the entry, blocking people exiting and noisily bothering those eating, and causing problems. I have seen a lot of customers complain about this behavior. Two that I know were so offended they won’t eat there any more. I’ve even been standing in line to pay and had hostesses come up and ask me bluntly to «please move» because they needed to get past me, without so much as a smile. How was I to know by standing in the mandatory queue to pay, that I was blocking their way.(I’m handicapped, btw). The patrons all thought the situation was funny, my being thrown out for being polite, while the incoming patron screaming, threatening bodily harm, and being abusive, gets support from this out of control owner. In my opinion, there is definitely something wrong with P(the owner). He really should seek anger management classes or something. After many years of my eating at this place, he owes me a fervent apology for being blind sided and inappropriate. Nonetheless, that’s the last time I’ll eat at Vickis. It’s not safe, in my opinion! Meanwhile, in my opinion the food is nothing to write home about, its ok. And the bus boys who pour coffee refills often pour regular coffee into decaf, and the other owner takes umbrage to diabetics who, under the table, inject in her restaurant, telling them to go into the bathroom and risk infection, unaware that diabetics are allowed to do so when they are required to by MD. The waitresses are very good. Yet, It’s amazing. No freedom to exit, no freedom of speech, disdain for those with a handicap, and utter abuse from the owner. The owner, as I was just served and hardly part way into a turkey burger and salad, came over to me a few months ago during one such busy day, and insisted I give up my table as soon as possible, as it seated two and I was only one, and he needed it. Apparently he doesn’t like parties of one and has terrible self control problems. That I eat there every day for lunch was irelevent to him. When I had arrived, the place was nearly empty. Another time, as I was a party of one, he insisted I take a table that has a bad leg in the front corner, that is so rickety, it spills your soup and coffee to sit at it. He proped it up with plastic props but it still spilled hot coffee on the table. Nonetheless, he lied and said he had to use the table next to it «For a large party» and then sat a party of one at it. I can understand room management, but replace or fix the broken tables, for gosh sakes! I probably occupy a table for no more than 15 – 18 minutes. But no one likes the rickety table. Except Peter, apparently. Either that or unaware of my handicap, he judges me as a wierdo. There’s no excuse for that, either. Apparently, he judges each patron on their economic potential and disregards the rules of propriety. Shame, shame, Vickis, this behavior won’t get you any friendship

Went in for breakfast on Sunday morning and had the veggie omelet and a blueberry pancake. The place was extremely busy yet the service was fast. The omelet wasn’t greasy like in most diners, and the pancake was good. Will come back in the future.

Great fast service, friendly staff, great ambiance and food. I ordered a side corned beef hash and thought I was getting the usual small plate, but I got shocked when the waitress brought me a big plate full of corned beef hash good for 4 ppl to share. Coffee good too
