I come here all of the time. Today the posted special was chipotle chicken sandwich with fries for $ 10.50. I was charged $ 12.45 for the sandwich, fries and drink PLUS $ 1.95 for an additional drink I did not one because the cashier insisted it was not the special and the drink was not included (even though it is on my receipt). The cashier became flustered when I asked her how it was $ 16.06 for something that is usually ~$ 12. I told her she should probably take the special down if it is now accurate of what the actual price or meal is as she handed me the wrong receipt and no cup for one of my two drinks I paid for. Love the food but the service is horrible and since the cashier saw me take a photo of the food and come back for a correct receipt my food is probably being spit in as I post this. Not worth arguing with someone that doesn’t care. Will not be back.

This review is not based on the food since I haven’t tried it yet. I just went in to get a sandwich. Two pieces of bread and some meat to go and it took 15 minutes. Consequently, i missed several trains and am late for work. Restaurants where you sit down don’t take that long. It was 530pm and not busy at all. The 2 costumers that came in after me for thier food at the same time. Never again.

Hands down my favorite diner in Chicago. The sandwiches and burgers are terrific as well as the Greek pastries. It’s also a great place to sit and enjoy the views on Michigan Ave. As a student in the city, I would come here often and enjoy the scenes of the city.

This place was convenient for a quick bite, but food was very average. The one exception was the side of Brussel sprouts. Perfectly cooked and perfectly yummy.

Chipotle Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Greek Chicken, and Not Your Kids Grilled Cheese! Yeah!!! Also, must try their homemade potato chips!

The food here is usually good. My order is usually missing something, but when I come back they fix it. My only real issue is the cashier. There is one gentleman who is kind, but the other cashiers are rude. They never greet you and they seem to be irritated.

I used to love this place, now it’s meh & I probably won’t be coming back. Went in today to order the lunch special. Was overcharged for it and brought it to the cashier’s attention, she gave me some wonky explanation about sales tax as to why I was paid $ 3 dollars more than the listed price, huh? Called the manager she looked at the receipt apologized and refunded me the overcharged amount. Cashier had charged me for the cheese twice and the special was rung up at regular price. Fine problem solved. 15 mins later, I get the food, fries are cold and there is NO CHEESE! Not to mention there was no ice in the machine. The lids for the cups were in a complete disarray & had ketchup all over them. Horrible lunch experience, for the price and hassle skip it.
Two stars are for how nice the lady (owner I presume) who passed out samples a few week ago was. The tomato soup is also very good.

OMG. The veggieburger here didn’t look much for the world but was really really good! Fresh and tasty.
Burger was made of beans and corn. Served with avocado, tomato, onion, lettuce, bread and mayo made of herbs. We liked that the volume was low so you could talk to each other.

I’ve only ordered for pick up so I can’t speak for the service, but the «Not your kids grilled cheese» is delicious!

Horrible service, from the second we walked in, servers looked like they didn’t want to be there. We were given an attitude for asking for milk, during breakfast for the horrible «latte» they made us. Sad because the place actually has potential and what seemed to be great history to it. I’d blame this on the manager as well as bad management. Also, tip to the manager… If a customer is complaining that one of your servers is mistreating them, you should do something about it.

Hope the food is better than the service. The cashier must really love her job… said extremely sarcastically. We came here because of all the good reviews on Unilocal.So far not so good…

I had the gyro dinner and I’ve got say… beat gyro I’ve had. Their tzaziki sauce is flavorful and the small salad on the side was good too. I wish I had more pita bread but the size of the platter was enough to feed 2 people. Great service as well. I’ll definitely go back.

The man who ordered my food was polite. The Chicago dog was awful. No Vienna beef, no tomato slices. The mustard wasn’t in the dog, it was all over the bun, and there wasn’t any celery salt. Don’t even bother with this place

My fiancé and I love this place! We order from them all the time and just recently dined in. Lovely clean place with great service. The food is delicious, fresh, and has great healthy options.

The food was OK. It’s a bit expensive. I just liked that it was close to everything. There are other restaurants nearby that can get you better food for a better price.
Warning: THEY ONLY TAKE CASH.
The patio seating was a nice touch so three stars

Let me start with their Santa Fe Breakfast Burrito for around $ 8. Like wow can a breakfast burrito that cost $ 8.00 make you wish you had Mcdonald’s breakfast burrito instead for half the price? Yes, it can be Artist’s café did that to me yesterday while dining in at their empty establishment.
The description for this breakfast burrito sounds great, «gouda cheese,» and pico de galio and bacon and whatever else oh the eggs. All I tasted was burrito wrapped in egg and I no clue what sauce they gave to me on the side. I tried it taste like perhaps frank’s hot sauce?
The girls aren’t big foodies yet, they ate their chicken pita with no real complaints. I didn’t try it. My husband and I were like this is our first time probably our last time eating here. Big mistake spending money here but we at least learned our lesson.

Had a solid meal here. The «not for kids» grilled cheese was elevated above a pedestrian caprese (glad to live in a age where the caprese is pedestrian, but still) with goat cheese and actually really good quality fresh mozzarella. The fries were solid, crispy golden with peel on.
Also, if you’re looking for a place to charge your devices (as I was when I wandered in), there are amply available outlets.

Went here for lunch during a day at the Art Institute, with a friend who used to hang out here in his college days. He says the place has changed, there used to be actual art on the walls, etc, but now it’s just a small little café diner with a nice view of the park.
We got seated quickly, but as mentioned, the place is small, so expect to be seated thisclose to someone else. The food is good, not great, and the descriptions aren’t all that precise, but the service is very good. My sandwich was good, but my friend ordered meat and they only had a butter knife to cut with. Why? Prices are Chicago loop prices, don’t expect any bargains. But it was a nice lunch outside the museum and a quick walk out and back.

After a quick trip into Chicago, Kerrie and I met our daughter at this South Loop spot for a quick lunch. Artist’s Café is a place where you order at the counter, they give you a number to post at your table, and they deliver the food to you when ready.
It’s small, quaint, but the food is really extraordinary. It’s not what you expect going to a restaurant where you order at the counter. The menu varies from burgers and chicken, to skewers to salads. Their specials were really interesting.
The service was relatively quick. I would give five stars for the variety, but there was a small problem with my food. While it was quite tasty, I ordered a burger which came with a number of toppings. The bacon was a little burned. And, they didn’t ask how I wanted my burger cooked and it came well done. I would have prefered medium, but they didn’t ask and I didn’t offer.
The service was quite good and they were very nice to their patrons. I will be going back next time I’m in the south loop.
