I went to this place for brunch and it was great! It is a cozy little diner that is nothing fancy but has great food. I ordered the New Orleans style shrimp and grits and I have to say it was really good! With my shrimp and grits It also came with eggs, and pancakes too! I couldn’t believe I got so much foo for the price! it was great! I will definitely be back.

Came here for breakfast and this charming location is easy to miss. I loved the waffles, pancakes, and more(mini feast). Everything was great, if it was in a more accessible location I would go weekly.

Many of the«trendy» breakfast places have long lines and high prices. Eppel’s gets the job done — and what else do you need for breakfast, anyway? Great omelets & skillets, and the pancakes are fluffy and filling. And the waitresses are extremely entertaining. And who doesn’t need a smile on their face in the morning? A terrific place.

This is a great little place for breakfast in a good location with plenty of parking! The photos are accurate. Everything we ordered was great and service was too. I will return the next time in Chicago.

I went here for the first time today and I absolutely LOVED it!!! Lynn was our waitress and she was amazing and super friendly! The prices are great and the portions are big! I had the pot roast it was served with carrots and mashed potatoes, it was delicious. The restaurant also has outdoor seating and its located by many stores like Target, Burlington, Victoria secret ect… Definitely will be going back… Thank you Lynn for a great experience!!!

LOVELOVELOVE eppels! We normally go here almost everyday for breakfast. It is a small diner with a great staff. The food is amazing at a great price. You have to try their pancakes which makes you smile.

Ok, so my better half brought me here one early morning for breakfast. He used to come here with his dad years ago and we needed a change from our regular breakfast spot. Small diner-like environment, extremely friendly waitresses, and GOOD food. I ordered an omelet. Big portion, came with hash browns, and my choice of toast. However, I could’ve had French toast or mini waffles without being charged extra. I like having that option of multiple choices. Omelet was loaded with cheese, veggies, and meats and was cooked nicely. Potatoes crisp on the outside, tender on the inside but, needed some salt. My hubby had a skillet that was loaded with ingredients that he enjoyed as well. His mini waffles tasted good, and he loved every bite. The waitresses were attentive and one of them has been working there for about 40 years, and even got her friend a job there too, years ago. It felt like I was at an aunt’s house, they were so friendly and funny. Will I be returning? YES, TODAY! Prices are very affordable, and I found out that there’s free parking in the rear. This is definitely climbing the list as our favorite go-to place for breakfast. I hear that they can get pretty crowded so, get here early to beat the rush.

When I first saw this place from the outside, I was like, «wow, what a dump.» Not so much inside. It’s nice and cozy inside. We went here for brunch, so we got omelets. They weren’t fluffy at all, which was a let down. The portions are huge and the service was good. Prices were very reasonable. Worth swinging by if you need brunch, are in the area, and don’t want to wait.

I love Eppel’s. 4 stars based on portion size, cost, and quickness. Nothing says good diner like it being quick and good and cheap! I grab lunch from there a lot, as I work nearby, and my food is always ready quickly! And everyone is so nice there. I’m not saying this is like eating and some crazy James Beard award winning place. It’s good olé classic diner food and it’s yummy in the tummy! I even prefer it over the acclaimed White Palace which is just a block away.

Love this place! Food portions are very generous, the service is great, in fact if you call in your order ahead they’ll have it ready within minutes for sit down service. Love their waffles and their Denver omelet, and their cheeseburgers… so good!!! Parking can be an issue, they have a couple slots in the back but other than that you’re at the mercy of street parking. Seating is tight, eat your food and go!

The best elderly woman served our table with the most enthusiastic attitude. Beats STL’s Denny’s or Courtesy Diner any day.

I like the at-home/diner feel of Eppel’s. It’s been around forever and they keep it simple with a good variety breakfast options. There’s nothing fancy on the menu but they do cater to all types of meat eaters with beef, pork, turkey, chicken and liver products and of course the vegetarian. I’ve tried the bananas foster crêpe, French toast, eggs and turkey sausage patties. The crepes were massive. So much food came out I wasn’t sure who was going to help me finish my breakfast. The bananas, nuts and syrup were like sensory overload BUT it was all delicious. On another visit, I was really pleased with my French toast too. It was light and I could really taste the egg from the batter(I love eggs!). All this food on the cheap is a win for me… and it comes out quickly. There’s nothing fancy about the restaurant itself either. There are a bunch of booths, counter space with stools and a few tables. The service is okay. If you order coffee someone is USUALLY around to refill. My first visit I was offered refills perhaps a tad too often and on my second visit I had to hunt my server down. There’s parking in the back with a back entrance, so you don’t have to worry about paying the city of Chicago for parking or worry about getting a ticket.

I am a true breakfast person and live close by but had never tried Eppel’s. My daughter and I decided to try them as we have set out to try all the restaurants in the area. This place seemed popular and my husband knew it had been around for a long time. Well, I really can’t say I will ever go back again. The place is nice and the service was good but the breakfast was very disappointing. My eggs were cooked so hard they were more brown than yellow. The hash browns had no flavor and the texture was neither good or bad just plain. My daughter was no impressed with the eggs Benedict. The crab patties were the worst I have ever had! Straight out a box from the freezer and popped in the microwave taste. I love coffee but did not like theirs. Because I like to support the surrounding businesses as much as possible I decided to check the reviews to find out what I was missing. The place is really nice and the people are friendly so I wanted to give it a try again. However, it seems that most people really like meals we don’t eat(we are pescatarians — no meat or poultry but eat fish). Keep up the good service but I have my favorite area breakfast places and many more to try. We won’t be back.

Small, no frills, good breakfast restaurant. The coffee was delicious and the breakfast was good too. I had the crêpe breakfast with eggs, sausage & crepes. The eggs were cooked the way I like, the sausage was delicious, if a bit greasy. The crepes, while they were doused in syrup along with the apples it was good. I prefer fresh fruit, not the syrupy sweet fruit they offer, but I was shocked how good they were. The service was attentive, there’s parking in the back. Overall a good breakfast. Nothing amazing, no frills, but a good local breakfast option.
