Denny’s

I’ve been to this location twice and the coffee is sh**. It’s burnt, like it’s been sitting on the warmer all day and all night and they reuse the old coffee grinds. Now the home fries that look like a potato pancake are just plain nasty. Even if you get them well done their raw, watery and soggy on the inside. This is supposed to be a place known for it’s breakfast and they can’t even make a decent cup of coffee. They get one star just for that. Screw Denny’s! The only time I’ll go back in there is if I’m in a pinch and need a bathroom for an emergency bowel movement. If I want to eat breakfast out I’ll just go to the Centereach Diner down the road. Just put a DQ or Carl’s Jr. in it’s place.

This is an overdue review about an outrageous customer service experience I had at this Denny’s. My group and I came after our event at around 11:30-midnight on a Sunday night (it’s open 24 hours). There was no trouble finding seats or with the food, but the problem came up during the payment of the bill. Denny’s staff informed us that they had already broken up our bill individually based on our seating (not a problem, we were a large group), however, at the register, I decided to pay for a friend’s meal along with my own. Her bill came up to roughly $ 14 which I had paid with a fifty dollar bill. My friend had hugged me at the cash register to show her gratitude. I had then noticed that the manager had shortchanged me $ 20 and she had never given me my receipt back (the rest of my party had), and since I hadn’t put away the change and I was still standing by the cash register with the change in my hand, I would say that I had politely brought up to the manager behind the cash register that she may have shortchanged me and asked to see my receipt. However, I would say that her response and attitude was the worst that I could have imagined. She had immediately brushed off my words and without checking the possibility of her actions with a rude and rather suspicious, «I gave you the right change, I do not have a $ 20 bill in my register, the $ 20 bill was on top of the pile in your hand, you must have dropped it when you were hugging your friend, I don’t know, go look around the floor.» My friend (more inflamed with her than I was by her attitude) noticed a camera right behind the register and asked if the footage may have been caught. Another manager walked over, and before myself or my friend could say anything, the manager immediately told her that it was my fault for losing the money and for being irresponsible.
At the end of all this, we were informed that they could not count the money in the register to see if there did happen to be an extra $ 20 because their head manager was not there, they can not give me my receipt because it wasn’t there and they could not check the camera to see if anything did happen at the cash register. They did tell us to leave a phone number so that the head manager can get back to us with any updates the next day (never happened).
It wasn’t the fact that she could have had the possibility of shortchanging me that was the issue, but it was the unprofessional way that she had handled it. I honestly do not think I had said or done anything to prompt her to humiliate me. I wished I had remembered her name.
But despite this review, I would like to thank the Denny’s staff and service prior to the incident. It was comfort food for a late night, and my group did have a good time. It’s just sad to have a bad ending to a good time.

so well let’s see as a Chef in the industry of food service and many fine dining establishments as well as a pro NY sports team. if you want your food being bare handed and placed on your plate buttered toast made ahead of time and not to mention the highly unsanitary kitchen conditions butter scoop in a motionless water bath with other criss contaminated utensils shame on them I think a health dept inspection is in order so if you love to gamble on your health eat there other than that go to a family owned traditional long island diner wish there was a zero star rating

Waited a long time for a Denny’s to come to Long Island. Have given them about 7 different visits over a period of time to Impress me and they Never did. Food is Blah, Service is beyond slow and the inside is Always dirty. Such a Disappointment!!!

I wish I could give this place no stars! They screw up out our orders every time we go! Once we ordered pancakes and had to wait 20 minutes for the server to come to ask for some and our pancakes were ice cold by the time they brought it out. The manager treats the servers like crap when the mistakes are usually made by the crew in the kitchen! DON’T GO HERE! Just go to IHOP if you really want breakfast!

I want to give Dennys 5 stars. Really I do. Because it’s a great All-​American place to eat with great choices for breakfast-​lunch-​dinner and they have some great fit and fare choices for less than 550 calories. Plus they have kids eat free Thursdays which is awesome. Their prices are great on everything.
But last night there was a long wait, my silverware cleanliness was not 100% up to snuff (however it was replaced by a friendly manager), and I had to ask for my Gluten Free English Muffin that was supposed to come with my Tilapia Ranchero, three times. I finally got it after I finished my whole dinner so it was basically «dessert».
What it comes down to though is like another reviewer says you have to review in context to the kind of place you are eating at. And I’d take Dennys over an overpriced mom and pop diner any day. I love you Dennys.

I remember when Denny’s was just an out of state guilty pleasure. Now Long Island has a few locations and now it’s just a guilty pleasure. They serve your basic diner crap but, for some reason, it doesn’t make me feel sick afterwards like a typical Long Island greasy spoon. The food isn’t great at all neither is the service. But, if you’re craving burgers or breakfast food for dirt cheap than Denny’s it is.

The service here has gotten progressively worse, to the point it has reach today, which I would classify as complete and total shit.

Service was horrible mozzarella sticks where the most disgusting I’ve ever had pancakes were disgusting service was horrible a lot higher expectations for Denny’s

My wife and I were very disappointed. The place was filthy, the staff looked overworked, food was lukewarm and the toast was not toasted. Not even a little. The best thing about this place is the coffee. I’ll go somewhere else next time. Coffee I can get anywhere.

Dennys has been on my roster of favorite restaurants for breakfasts since 1978 when I discovered them while living in San Diego. Grand slam breakfasts are the deal of the century and my favorite for lunch is always the club sandwich with wavy fries. The Centereach Denny’s has a wonderful staff of friendly attentive servers. When I go to a restaurant I look for several things, of course the food needs to be good but I like the restaurant to be clean, well lit, nice music and friendly service. The Centereach Denny’s checks off everything on my wish list!
All you haters that bash Denny’s as if you’re reviewing a four star French restaurant should rate restaurants in the proper context. Denny’s has great value and consistently good food at reasonable prices.

Second time trying this place. This is also the last. Chicken sausage quesadilla was made with cheap cheese and leftover meats. The grand slam breakfast was something good for a senior living facility. The guys behind us looked like they were celebrating release from prison and the two women across from us were acting like they were kicked off Bad Girls Club. It’s Dennys. Sigh… Enough said. Oh wait… One star for good coffee.

Most unorganized restaurant I have ever been in the management is terrible service is terrible it’s a free for all nobody has a clue of what to do because management does not have a clue stay away if I could have put no stars there I will have

I love Denny’s and wanted to love this Denny’s as it’s the only one we have. However, I cannot like a place that has never gotten our complete order right, has served under cooked or over cooked something each time, serves grits that aren’t, has the refuse of too many prior visitors under the tables, left a smelly carpet sweeper leaning against the table across from us through a meal, and has not done anything to correct itself despite several complaints, even to corporate.
If your place is bad, and I tell you it is, and your answer is free coupons to come back, and you haven’t fixed any of the problems when I do… twice. you need to rethink the business you are in.

Sad to say as is the case with most Denny’s the service overshadows the somewhat decent food. We were sat quickly, then sat and sat. They are understaffed and the manager walked away when we tried talking to him. We won’t be returning.

I’ve never experienced a breakfast where practically everything was bad. coffee eggs sausage. I figured that with the brand. .they would be consistency.

First and foremost, I gotta give it up to KATHY! She makes this place 10x better. There have been times where the girl and I couldn’t pick a place to eat, and we chose Denny’s just because of Kathy’s stellar service. We love Kathy. #teamkathy
Anyway, some of these reviews are ridiculous. Listen, you gotta realize your going to Denny’s in the middle of Centereech, next to a Walmart. Your not at some high end rich 5* diner in the Hamptons. Lower your expectations, this is a fast food type diner, kind of like a Applebee’ or Friendlys.
I absolutely love this place. It’s a good 20 $ for 2 meal. Im never expecting it to be the best food in the world. It’s a good drunk food meet up, or a I’ve been up studying I’m hungry type joint. Don’t order no sirloin steak or chicken parm. Stick to the basics, like nachos, chicken tenders, breakfast and burgers. I recommend those basics, and not stray too far off that route. The deserts are amazing! I love the $ 2-​$ 4-​$ 6 menu.
Also love that homemade special ranch dipping sauce. It by far the thickest, creamiest, most delicious sauce I’ve ever had I my mouth.

If I could have given this Denny’s no stars I would have. My friend suggested we go because she loves the BLT. Big mistake ! The best part of this place was the server. She had so many tables yet was great.
Down to the food horrible. What my kids did eat gave them all diarrhea ! The utensils were dirty. The place itself was dirty. As soon as I walked in I should have walked out. Never again at least I know for the future. Beware of this place unless you have a strong stomach !

Our server was not so um attentive walking away as we where speaking. She dropped our coffee and was about to walk away as we told her that we had to order because we had to be somewhere. She didn’t acknowledge what we said took our order as we apologized she simply walked away really rude !

We came here on a Sunday 9:30 am and it was a bit busy. Not as busy as I thought it would be but my guess is everyone is at church. There is a private parking lot right outside.
I thought the staff is okay. Nice but brief because they are busy. When they are not busy, the staff is super nice and awesome.
The food is okay. My bf got the Belgian waffle slam an the waffle was dry and overcooked. I would have said something if I knew sooner but also it was so busy that it’s difficult. Plus in my culture, critiquing the food is not something you do in front of them. But I realized it’s something that is acceptable to do at a restaurant here but in a nice way.
My food is acceptable but I asked for no butter on my toast, they forgot. Soggy toast. I like chicken fried steak for breakfast.
I’ve been here twice and the staff is always very nice.
