Dear Teddy, I came to your restaurant on my lunch break at least once a week for three or four years. We chatted about family, love, vacations and work. I told you that you worked too hard and you said that you want to spend more time with your family. I’m happy that you retired and now you can finally do so. I will miss you and the vegetable wrap with hummus that I got all the time. Wish I could have said good bye, good luck, or something of that nature. :)

Teddy’s, please come back. I have been suffering for three weeks because I can’t eat Teddy’s’ french fries. I don’t know how this works, but, even when delivered, they are crispy on the outside and hot and beautiful on the inside. The traditional diner-type food is excellent: consistently correctly-cooked mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers a step above what you get at other venues(I am a fast-food snob. really.), burgers actually cooked to order instead of nominally«medium rare» and actually«gray and black.» Can’t vouch for the other food, but I’ve heard good things. This place is so masterfully managed and the service is good in-house or for delivery. I’m mainly posting this review superstitiously, in the hopes that Teddy’s will come back to me if I give an offering to the Unilocal

A real thumbs up for Teddy’s, a pleasant oasis which sometimes lives in the shadow of the more historic Tom’s down the street. Teddy’s has consistently good food(breakfast and greek specialties are what they do best), decent service, and a backyard in warm months which is super chill. Never a wait, which is key to remember when you’re considering the line at Tom’s. Never had dinner there, but I hear the Octopus is great if a little pricey. Give it a shot.

I feel bad giving 1 stars because the people at Teddy’s are freaking awesome people. Chatty, friendly, warm people. I feel awful. Unfortunately, what we ordered was dreadful. I plan on ordering other things — some of the reviews say that Teddy’s can be hit or miss. So we will plan on coming back and ordering other things. I’ll change the number of stars if the food gets better. Pork Ribs: C+ They were very meaty but dry. Not only were they over trimmed of fat, but they were overcooked. There was no marbling of the meat; not very juicy. Usually you can get away with overcooking if there’s enough fat. But these were overcooked and devoid of marbling. Falafel: D The falafel balls were massively under-cooked. We sent them back. The new falafel balls were mealy and didn’t taste good. We ended up tossing them.

You had my heart at Avgolemono. Also, waffle fries for delivery?! Yes. Yes yes yes. Sign me up. I’m never given snotty attitude when my order is under $ 10, it’s always here in 15 minutes [granted, I am all of 6 blocks away], and everyone is friendly to the point of suspicion. 4 stars because the quality of their lemon potatoes has been steadily declining since my first visit 3 years ago [which is a shame, because Lemon + Potato = perfect food]

TOTALLY recommend this place, especially if you’re fiendishly famished right after checking out the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens nearby. We went to the BBG just the other day, and came out extremely hungry and craving Mediterranean Food. All of the other Mediterranean places in the area were a bit too pricey for us, so we decided to check out Teddy’s, which has a very reasonably priced menu(most entrée’s are about $ 12). Why Teddy’s rocks: 1.) They have an outdoor garden seating area! It’s totally not crowded, and at around 7 pm the live music begins. 2.) The portions are enormous, and the food is so delicious you’re going to WANT to eat those left-overs throughout the rest of the week. 3.) Honestly, the food was really good. Combine that with the price and you’ve got yourself a really great Greek diner. I opted for the Greek Salad, which was very fresh and light(came with olives, a grape leaf, feta cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and romaine with oregano, olive oil and vinegar) with a side of falafel, which was crispy and delicious(definitely enough to share). My boyfriend got the gyro platter, which was ENORMOUS. The meat was perfectly seasoned and came with lemon potatoes(AMAZING), really good tzatziki and some pita slices. I only wish the pita slices were a little bit bigger so that you can actually make yourself a gyro sandwich. Ate the leftovers later that night and they’re even yummy when they’re cold! nyum nyum. DOIT!

Food is delicious! Price is reasonable. Teddy is very warm and welcoming. The place is very laid back and has a lovely garden in the back. I don’t remember the name of the burger I ordered but it had mushrooms, onions, lettuce, tomato and fried and it was quite satisfying. Definitely coming back for more!

This is my very first Unilocal review. You’d think using it religiously for 3 or 4 years would encourage me to sign up sooner. In any case, after my 4th visit to Teddy’s diner I knew the time had come. My gf and I actually ended up here on a random suggestion from our apartment broker. We had just gotten off the subway in front of the Brooklyn Museum and decided that this was the neighborhood for us. Coming from San Francisco, we felt that Prospect Heights’ mix of people and attractions couldn’t be beat. We were looking for a place to relax, have a beer, and try to catch the end of the world cup. We were pointed to what appeared to be a Greek restaurant called Teddy’s. We lucked out, as Spain kicked the first(and final) goal RIGHT as we walked in. Fast forward 6 months… being a diner whore and after running the gauntlet of Cheryl’s, Tom’s and Purity in Park Slope many times, I read that Teddy’s actually serves diner food as well as Greek fare. Just like so many others, we decided to skip the wait at the other places and check it out. I can’t say enough about this place. For my usual pancake/sausage combo, the portion, price, taste, and even presentation are unbeatable. We really love Cheryl’s, but you’ll definitely pay a bit more and wait a lot longer. At Tom’s I feel like you pay for the«scene» and the kitschy atmosphere — not the food. The service at Teddy’s is warm and attentive. So far I’ve tried the Pancakes,(incredible) sausage, French Toast, Cheesburger and(amazing) fries, Chicken Kabobs, and a mushroom and bacon omelet. All very well done… I’m really surprised this place doesn’t have at least a solid 4 stars. I can honestly say I have been thoroughly impressed on every visit. We’ve never had to wait, but have never seen the place less than half full, either. It’s just perfect. Well…if I were to have one complaint it would be the coffee. They seem to be suffering from Folgers syndrome. Being the San Francisco coffee snob that I am, I started bringing my own in, as that is another great thing about this place… fully BYOB(or BYOC, in my case). I wouldn’t be surprised if they addressed the coffee issue very soon, as these guys seem to be very on top of things. For you doubting Thomas’ out there who question my 5 star review right out the gate, I can honestly say that I have been to a ton of different places in NYC for a wide variety of food/drinks/activities, and this is one of just(maybe) two 5 star reviews I plan on writing.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Teddy’s yet!!! This is pretty sad considering that the hubs and I order here at least once a week. Teddy’s may look like a shitty diner on the outside, but the food is authentically greek and high quality. You won’t find any burger and cottage cheese combos here. There are a number of greek items including musaka, avegolemono soup(which is awesome), spanakopita(delicious fried feta cheese), and charcoal grilled seafood(the octopus and calamari are AMAZEBALLS). They also make amazing meat platters. Josh and I enjoy the charcoal mixed grill(lamb chops, chicken breast, and merguez) and the pork chops. The meat always has a nice char and seasonings on it(very oregano heavy, which I like). Their burgers are awesome, and it should be noted that their turkey burger is one of the most moist ones that I have ever had. With some avocado and mushrooms, it may be one of my death row meals. The owners are so nice, it is unreal. I remember one time I had gone out on a long training run. By the time I hit Teddy’s, I had run ten miles and desperately needed a bathroom. The owner’s wife immediately recognized me and let me use the toilet. I told her thank you, I had run ten miles, and the bathroom pretty much saved my life. She told me that I could probably use some sugar and gave me a free baklava!!! How’s that for service?! I only take away one star because one time the hubs and I ordered the seafood mixed grill(calamari, octopus, and shrimp) and both of us wound up super sick, vomiting all night. Considering how often we order from Teddy’s, one bad experience out of like, 69 thousand, still does not keep us from ordering here on a weekly basis. Not bad odds if I do say so myself. Teddy’s rocks and always is the high point in my week.

Teddy’s is a neighborhood staple. I have been there many times and will go again and again partially because I live nearby and partially because the food is good. The only real standout on the menu is the grilled calamari. Order it with the lemon potatoes. That said, everything I have had from their menu is good and they offer very quick takeout service(as most anyone who lives nearby will likely tell you as it is probably their default takeout option for European or American cuisine). Despite nothing else being a standout, the rest of their dishes I have had including a variety of Meditteranean meat platters served with your choice of starch and a salad and burgers have all been very good. The atmosphere is unremarkable but unoffensive. I have never dined outside or while there were a particularly large number of diners other than my party there… were it particularly crowded, I assume I wouldn’t be fond of the noise level as the floor plan is very open and décor between the walls is sparse if existent at all. The prices are very fair although Teddy’s, like so many other places, puts too much food on your plate. Usually, I would be happy to pay 80% of the price for 65% of the food. I wouldn’t travel from another borough just to get to Teddy’s but I would definitely recommend it after you’ve made the trip for the Brooklyn Museum or the Botanic Gardens. It is surely the closest restaurant to either that will allow you the space to take more than a couple friends and that has outdoor dining.

Thanks to Unilocal… stopped by Teddy’s to eat prior to a visit to the Brooklyn Museum. Food was pretty good with decent prices. We had a mix of Breakfast & Greek foods: 1) Fresh banana pancakes with 2 eggs 2) Charcoal baby octopus 3) Greek trio plate(gyro, chicken gyro, and loukaniko) — YUM! 4) Spanakopita

Teddy’s is worth a revisit. We went after an event on a Thursday evening at the Brooklyn Museum. It’s a very easy walk across the Parkway on the east side of Washington. It was clean and spacious, so the basic requirements were in place. Moving on to food: we started with hummus and pita. The hummus was on a plate with olives for eyes and a tomato wedge for a mouth, which felt whimsical and was welcome. Ordinary dinner salad with feta cubes and olives, followed by moussaka and lemon potatoes(not being professional reviewers, we chose the same entrée). Others spoke well of the lemon potatoes, and I concur — tasty. The moussaka was moist and delicately seasoned, with no single flavor overpowering the dish. We packaged up our leftovers and headed back to Pennsylvania. Other recent post-museum dine-out visits have been in Manhattan. Teddy’s is more of a «regular» neighborhood restaurant, not so clattery and cramped as UES establishments. The food was a better value, and I think that a repeat visit after a First Saturday will be a lot of fun — the place will be jumping with folks talking about art and continuing a great night out.

Massive gyro + crispy, delicious fries+ friendly service+cheap price+right down the block? I’ll be back for sure. My only complaint is that the meat was a tad dry. Nothing that couldn’t be solved with a little more tzaziki.

Solid delivery choice. I always get the gyro which is has way more lamb than one should ever consume in one sitting and is served with an equally well-appointed mound of steak fries. The delivery people do not give you enough ketchup(just FYI). My roommate gets the burger a lot and generally enjoys it. Teddy’s is not my go-to delivery place, but when I’m experience delivery-fatigue from others, I call on Teddy’s and they always warm my belly to my satisfaction.

I really enjoyed Teddy’s, tasty food, affordable prices, and great service/ambience. When we sat down, we quickly were served water and some warm pita bread with tzatziki sauce. I’m not a huge fan of any creamy or yogurt-based sauces, but this tzatziki really blew me away, just fantastic. Everyone I was with went nuts for it, and the staff was nice enough to offer us not 1 but 2 refills which were MUCH appreciated. I ate the spanakopita as my entrée which might have been a mistake – it was tasty, but the flavors were a little strong for it to make a good meal; next time I’ll get it as an appetizer or a side. Friends got the gyro and a meat plate, both of which got rave reviews. I’ll be coming back here when I need some killer Greek food nearby. Cant wait to try lots of other things on their menu, which really looks pretty extensive and, shall we say, excellent. Highly recommend it, especially the oven-roasted lemon potatoes they serve as a side. Amazing!

headline: nail(metal, not finger) in food I live close to Teddy’s. I’ve been here and ordered delivery from the place several times. The food isn’t particularly good. It’s passable diner food. It’s blah. It’s 2.5 to MAYBE3 stars. It’s the place you go when Café Shane has too much of a wait. So aaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway. I have a broken ankle and I order a lot of delivery food. A friend was over and we ordered the following: a nice salad with cucumber & tomato & feta, a falafel sandwich, and a chicken souvlaki. The salad was great! It was just the vegetables and the nice cheese. The falafel was COMPLETELY inedible. It was just a brown, dry lump. My friend and I were REALLY confused as to how anyone could feel okay serving this as a food item to someone. And then the piece-de-resistance! In my half of the chicken souvlaki was a metal nail covered in slime. My pal guessed that it came off of some of the kitchen equipment. I wasn’t really that upset, I mean, I guess stuff like that can happen, and it didn’t hurt me, but COMEON. A FUCKINGMETALNAILINTHESANDWICH? Anyway. I will obviously never order from here again. Even without the nail, the place is not good.

It’s Sunday at 10am. You just rolled out of bed and are sick and tired of cereal for breakfast. You’re on a budget, though. WTF are you going to do? Go. Here. Teddy’s is an absolutely LOVELY place. First of all, I walked in and you would’ve thought I was the owners daughter. THATISHOWHEGREETSYOU. A big, friendly, super sweet, authentic Greek greeting. Full of sweethearts and beauties. That is a sure way to 5 stars. But it goes beyond that. When I went in with my boyfriend on Sunday around 10/10:30 the place was pretty much dead. It didn’t last long, we got our order in right before the place got pretty busy. But the service was still awesome, even with a restaurant full of other patrons. Ordered a grapefruit juice and it was *huge*, and no ice! Yay. We also received little bowls of complimentary fruit until our food was ready, that was a pleasant surprise. We ordered home fries to split, and I got chocolate chip pancakes. Oh. My. God. First, the home fries were PERFECTLY done. Not greasy, soft but not mushy with a delectable layer of crispiness on top. Plus some onions and peppers thrown in, they were very, very good. My pancakes though. Ohhhh my pancakes. They stole the show. Crispy outside, and awesomely dense inside. Just the right amount of chocolate chips spaced throughout that I didn’t even need to use syrup. Sadly, I could only finish two of them without completely exploding. It ACTUALLY pained me to not eat the last pancake. Seriously, I’m still kind of bummed that delicious piece of awesome had to get tossed. Finally, the price? For two of us, it came to about $ 25WITH tip. Yeah, you read that right. A full breakfast for two, with 2 juices. In the heart of Prospect Park(right by the Brooklyn Museum). Yeah. Amazing. Anyway, the service: 5 stars Food: 5 stars Location from the train: SHORT walk, 5 stars Inside: 3.5 stars, it’s nothing special. Comfy, but nothing awesome. I really don’t care about ambience. Skip Tom’s, it’s full of hipster, trust-fund babies. Come to Teddy’s for better food, no lines and sweet service.

Its Sunday, you are recovering from a 1 – 2 punch of partying all weekend and you want some comfort food? TEDDYS Teddy’s has the best burgers in the neighborhood. Hands down. My go to is Bacon Cheddar burger. No joke, I have ordered it before had my roommates come out of their rooms to the aroma only to order it minutes later. It’s that good. If you want to go nuts, get the super burger. Eat with caution if you suffer from a heart condition! Burgers aside, the staff is also great. Teddy and other members of the staff always smile and say hello when they see me in the ‘hood. The reason it gets three stars is this: –The fries are mediocre. –The Greek food is not so great. –They only serve breakfast on the weekends?! If it’s a «fat day» Teddy’s should be high on your list.
