First time to Big Bear and this place made the whole trip most enjoyable. We wanted salads and my wife wants more than just iceberg lettuce thrown in a bowl. We went to 5 places in the Village and all had overpriced undernourished salads. We almost gave up when we saw this one down the street. What a surprise! The salads were large, full of the good stuff, spring mix that my wife loves, and we got to eat outside. Plan to return to check out more of the menu. And, oh yeah, the waitress had the most beautiful smile and personality.

A little off the beaten path, this little gem is worth the side trip for breakfast. Two of us had the«EdEarles» Eggs Benedict. They were just the right portion size and the hollandaise sauce was rich, creamy and flavorful. Our other friend had a more standard breakfast and all of us left with a full and satisfied belly and palate. The only real drawback here is they don’t take credit cards but there is an ATM on site. Highly recommended!

Cute place but I just had the worst grilled cheese of my life. My boyfriend liked his pot pie though

I’ve only been here twice, but both times the food & service were excellent. Last time I was there, I had the chicken tacos. The chicken was so flavorful! The bean were ok, but the tacos were totally worth it! And there were 3! Yum!!!

Yes the cinnamon cornbread is incredible and I actually had the best patty melt I think I’ve ever had in my life they put bacon on it and it’s 100% Angus beef. Everything tastes fresh and homemade even the iced tea. We could not figure out why just a simple cup of coffee was so good they said they freshly grind the beans before every pot. I had chicken soup that was just as amazing as the chicken pot pie. We ended up going here 4 times in 4 days by far the best meal on the mountain. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the last time we went we were in the back room because they were extremely crowded and the service left something to be desired I think the young kid forgot we were there luckily a very nice lady helped us near the end and made the stay enjoyable we will come back again for sure.

Cash only. That’s probably what deters people from this place. Also the fact that I think they actually moved a bit down the street from where Unilocal has them listed. I came here before taking off from Big Bear and was searching for the place for a good 10 minutes. While walking down the street I finally spotted it. I didn’t have cash on me but there’s an ATM in the lobby that has a 2.50 dollar charge, not bad. I withdrew some money and proceeded to get a table. This, along with Grizzly Manor, are the two best breakfast joint available in the area in my opinion. I ordered a glass of Orange Juice(freshly squeezed). Most business say freshly squeezed but it doesn’t taste like it. At Teddy Bear Restaurant it did taste like it and it was quite refreshing to say the least. I took a minute on the menu since there were so many options. The young lady who was my waitress was so awesome and patient. To be honest it was probably the best customer service in Big Bear. Service had been pretty rude overall in Big Bear up until I went to Teddy Bear Restaurant. Everyone was so nice and friendly. But I digress. Back to the food. I ordered a Pastrami hash and eggs. It was so heavenly. Some of the best pastrami meat I’ve ever had. The hash was made so proper too. The eggs were cooked to perfection. This was one of the best breakfast meal I’ve had in a while. The restaurant does get pretty busy but not as busy as other places so seating isn’t too bad. You can opt to sit inside where its a bit confined or they have the option of outdoor seating too. I decided to sit outside since it was such a lovely day. Great scenery and awesome vibes. Teddy Bear Restaurant has become my favorite breakfast joint in Big Bear. I can’t wait to return to try more items on their menu. PS I also got the waffles and they were some of the better waffles I’ve had too. I really thought they were gonna give me some lame cheap waffles but nope. They gave me some grade A high quality food and for that I’m very pleased

Every year we come to Big Bear Lake and try to taste as many restaurants as we can — always in search of a gem. Found it here — the food is consistently impressive and tasteful. I can definitely recommend with insurance the eggs Benedict, BLT, pancakes, the Chicken Pot Pie ANDTHECHERRYPIE!!! The best pies across the board. Every trip we eat here many times and are always so happy we do!!! It can be busy, be patient– the food is well worth any wait.

After a horrible experience at Peppercorn Restaurant(check out my review with them on their site), my husband and I were on the lookout for not only delicious food but were hoping to find a venue that was warm, welcoming, and hospitable. We walked into the Teddy Bear and we found what we’ve been looking for. Let me get the cons out of the way first: they are cash only, however, they do offer an ATM in the lobby. The other is that the dining room is quite warm. Maybe it’s because of the open kitchen or that the building is quite old, the temperature was not comfortable. We did sit next to an open window, so it helped. Now onto the pros… and many pros for that matter! First of all, the welcome we got was so friendly and easy, it felt like coming into a diner back home where everyone knows your name. Second, our server Meghan was FANTASTIC! She had about 3 – 4 tables she was covering but made each one feel like they were the only patrons there, including us! She gave us the best recommendations for our meals, and she nailed it! I had the bacon and egg cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. She made the suggestions of dipping them with ranch… genius! Then the cinnamon corn bread with the recommended honey to drizzle over it… holy moly. Life changing! My husband loved his navy bean soup and chicken fried steak. We will definitely be back and request Meghan specifically. Thank you to the entire staff at Teddy Bear!

First thing I noticed is that the women’s bathroom had a slight sewer smell Too it. Or maybe it was a mildewy smell, couldn’t put my finger on it but it wasn’t pleasant. I ordered the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. The steak wasn’t too bad. Eggs were cooked well, but my hash browns were cold and burnt I also ordered the brown sugar glazed bacon on the side. Oh my gosh! U need to get that! It was heaven in my mouth! The service was very friendly and attentive. It was tight in the corner where we sat, but we made it work. Nice little homely spot. Come try it out when you’re in the area.

We went a few weeks ago when Big Bear wasn’t quite open yet for business. We were looking for quick and inexpensive place to have lunch. Teddy Bear was actually perfect for what we wanted. We went by the reviews on Unilocal and they were right on. This place has good food and lots of it, almost too much. Certainly a place for locals. Our server had been there for many, many years. The décor is okay and is pretty small, but like I said it’s just what we wanted. I’m sure it’s totally packed during busy time. We will return someday and my guess is it’ll still be there.

Looking at the recent reviews I was a little nervous while sitting in the lobby waiting to be seated. Sadly it turns out that the recent reviews that are only 2 – 3 stars are fairly accurate. We went here around 1030 for brunch. I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy. While the wife ordered an omelette. My order was definitely a pre frozen out of a box breaded piece of chopped steak. The potatoes might have actually been made there, but the gravy, wow talk about bland. Most places in this area seem to have little to no seasoning, it’s really odd. But the amount of salt and pepper to try and fix the gravy just wasn’t able to be achieved. The wifes order was the most upsetting honestly. She ordered an omelette with feta cheese. It came out with cheddar cheese. She sent it back and requested the correction. It came back a few minutes later, the same omelet came back. You could tell that the cook in the kitchen scraped off the cheddar cheese from the top of the omelette by the huge hole that was torn in the top of it. However this time it arrived back at the table not only with a hole torn in it but with pepper jack cheese on it this time. It also looked like the microwaved it for a few seconds to start to melt the cheese. Still not having the correct cheese on it the wife was just done and decided to just deal with it. I was all about having the kitchen make a whole fresh new order for her but she didn’t want to wait, and sadly I wasn’t totally sure that they would have gotten it right on the third try any way. I will say that the cinnamon cornbread was really great. Yes it was a little crumbly but then again it’s cornbread it’s supposed to be, it’s not a cake or pastry. I would recommend it if you decide to go there. All in all I really wasn’t impressed. Honestly I was upset that my chicken fried steak wasn’t any better than it was. I don’t go off the dietetic rails very often but when I do I really want it to be worth it, and this wasn’t.

Sorry fellow Unilocalers, but I have to disagree on this one. I don’t see what’s so great about this place at all! The only thing I actually liked was their slogan: I EAT(at) TEDDYBEARSFORBREAKFAST. Cute. But not cute enough to make up for such a mediocre breakfast. We got: omelettes, cinnamon cornbread, and biscuits. Everything was dry, bland, and flavorless. Our eggs and hash browns were way overcooked. I had a few bites and couldn’t bring myself to finish it. Service was okay. Not the most attentive or friendly. Ambiance like that of a diner. At least the prices were very reasonable. I always give Teddy Bear a try when I’m in town thinking maybe I missed something, but I’ve been disappointed too many times now. I won’t be back.

I don’t know what it is about vacation food… it’s just so yummy! Teddy Bear Restaurant is no exception. Came here for a brunch, right away the host got our names down and we waited in the lobby, nice and warm from the outside. There’s an ATM in there and several toy/gumball machines to keep the kids busy. The bathrooms are also in there, the doors are tiny, you can miss them. :) The ambience in here is pretty darn cool, love the curved wall in the corner, the cute and simple décor… but the food. YUM. Everything came out fresh and hot. It did take about 40 – 45 mins and with a baby, that was a bummer, but oh well. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was good, they did not cook out the flour taste in the gravy, which I did not like, but it was still good and the cinnamon bread on the side totally worth the add on price.

I stopped in here for lunch with some friends. Inside it has a diner feel to it, and I noticed that they serve breakfast all day. The pies looked delicious, and I am sad I didn’t try one! For lunch I had the«Bear’s Best,» sandwich. It is slow cooked beef on sourdough with cheese, tomatoes and onions. I added a side of au jus because I am fancy like that. For a side I had the sweet potato fries. The sandwich was really big, and super good. I had just been hiking all morning, and this really filled me up. I could hardly finish it, and that is saying a lot. Everyone at the table had sandwiches, and I think they were all equally impressed. I would definitely come back here. The service was friendly, and the sandwiches were awesome. It is a great place for lunch while in Big Bear.

Just like most places in Big Bear, this place is quaint and cozy — which is exactly what I wanted when I went into town for breakfast. Due to the limited space, you might find a wait here on the weekends, but it’s definitely worthwhile. The staff is super friendly, the pricing is affordable, and the food is quite good. I had the Farmers Breakfast, which was really filling. It won’t blow your mind in terms of taste, but it definitely a solid meal made really well. The cinnamon cornbread was my side. I think it sounded better in my mind then it tasted in reality. The cinnamon dries out an already dry side, so the end result is … you guessed it … dry. For dessert(because what’s breakfast without dessert?) I had the pecan pie. This pie alone brought this review from a 3 to a 4 star. I’ve had a lot of pecan pie in my life, and this was top 3 for sure. It looks like an absolute mess, but trust me, you won’t be disappointed if you order it(a la mode, of course). End result, i’d definitely return, for the pie if for nothing else. NOTE: This place is cash only … so be prepared. Stay Cheerful ;)

We were sat fast by Mario he told us what they had on tap, answered a few questions and gave us time to look over the menu. I chose this spot based on Unilocal reviews. I have to say i thought about having a beer and going across the street to what looked like a new progressive restaurant… however Mario was such an excellent waiter, my husband said he «felt bad» to leave. so I looked it over again and asked mario what was popular. I got the pot roast with mashed potatoes and asked for au jus to taste it. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie, my kids got the burgers. I have nothing really bad to say, the burgers were good, however… our food was excellent! I felt like I was eating at a friends mothers house. The chicken pot pie was the best I’ve had and my pot roast, mashed potatoes even the au jus. two very enthusiastic thumbs up for home style food you dont have to clean your kitchen after!

1st Timer. Was looking for a comforting dinner spot and found this place via Unilocal.Plenty of mixed recent reviews but loved the name of the place so my group of 10 decided to give it a try after a full day of snowboarding. Atmosphere/Location: about a few miles away from bear mtn. not too far of a drive but can take awhile especially with the traffic people trying to get back home. Small entry and waiting room to get to the hostess. Packed house. about a 30min wait for hour party of 10. Restrooms available in waiting area. The restaurant has a nice cozy cabin home like atmosphere. Our tables were seated near the bar. Food: Ground Beef Steak: came with soup(mexicali), baked potato, and the ground beef steak smothered in sauteed mushrooms and onions and that savory brown gravy. Pot Roast: Probably the best pot roast i’ve ever had. Tender, savory gravy, hefty portion with all the trimmings. Chicken Pot Pie: The best pot pie thus far! A must try! Highly Recommended. Will not be disappointed. Large portion cooked to perfection. Fresh crush with a savory pot pie sauce chicken/veggies. Service: Was a busy night on a Saturday for dinner. Servers were quick and attentive. Overall: If you’re looking for home-style comfort food this place brings it. will hit the spot in so many ways. Large portions and great prices. Will definitely remember to come here when in town. You ask why not 5 stars?! It’s because it is CASHONLY(ATM available in waiting area).

Tiny little restaurant right off of Pine Knot and the Village area. Cash only! Our large party wait for a while and were not even seated together, so that was kind of bummer. Read other Unilocaler’s reviews and got the chicken pot pie along with club sandwich. Club sandwich was good, large portions. Chicken pot pie was probably the highlight. It was buttery and flaky and the filling was creamy with lots of veggies and chicken. Again, portion was huge for $ 12! You can definitely share. Good service, but not that memorable food wise.
