The jerky is delicious! I recommend the salt and pepper beef jerky it’s really really good. The store is a cute hole in the wall and the man working was very helpful! I also bought an ostrich jerky to give to my dad and he enjoyed it a lot.

Absolutely fantastic jerky. I only wanted venison, because you just can’t find it very often and it was really amazing. Tasty, not too chewy. Highly recommended!

Way overpriced and small amounts. Was intrigued because who doesn’t love beef jerky?, but 2oz for 6.99. It was literally just one medium sized piece. Also got a 4 oz bag for $ 10.99 which is a better deal but still too much. It was delicious, but like my usual place close to running springs coming down the mountain.

It is exactly what it says it is, a house of jerky. The Jerky they sell here are good and they have some unusual choices to say the least. They had ostrich and venison(which is deer) which were some of the tamer of the off beef brands. They definitely had some truly weird ones like snapping turtle and python. I mean python? Seriously, how much meat could be on one of those. Plus, how do you go about killing one, let alone kill one often enough to even consider jerking the meat to save for later. I guess if it got as big as pythons can get you could have quite a good amount of feet of meat to make into jerky. Hopefully it was not someones pet they decided to make a buck off of post death. I really wanted to try all the different jerkies they had there but they were quite a bit outside my realm of believability with the prices. I mean $ 10 for an ounce, yes 1 oz, of jerky?! Crazy! I don’t care what the jerky is made of, I can not get with anything for that price at such a low weight. I mean 1 oz is not even a mouth full, that is crazy. They also sell knives there. Perhaps for killing and skinning your own game to make into jerky, who knows. All in all I only recommend this place if you have an insatiable appetite for snapping turtle that only a $ 202oz. bite could fix.

I love their teriyaki turkey! It is tender, and on the sweeter side. It’s like meat candy! House of Jerky also offers jerky from a variety of meats: buffalo, alligator, ostrich, turkey, smoked salmon, wild boar, and the usual beef and beef brisket. Flavorings include sweet and spicy, peppered, teriyaki, and regular. They also have sampler packs where customers can try several beef varieties at once. Small packs(about 2 oz.) can be had for about $ 10, and larger packs(5.5 oz.) for about $ 18. The shop can be a little slow at serving customers at the register, so beware, especially if there is a long line! Also, it might disappoint some to learn that the jerky is actually made in Indiana. No trip to Big Bear is complete without a stop here in the village, and then across the street to North Pole for sweets!

This place is great for quality jerky. You gotta try Kangaroo & Buffalo jerky! The jerky is a bit pricey but this place has some of the best jerky I ever had.

This place is tiny but they have such a big variety of both regular jerky and jerky made from exotic meats. The first one we tried was the Sweet and Spicy Beef Brisket Jerky. Really good! Nice chew. Great flavor. This is the one to get. The second one we ate was the Ostrich Jerky. This one was not as good. It had a weird liver taste to it. Not getting that again. If I am ever in the area again I would definitely come try the other exotic meats.

Let me start by saying i love Jerky so maybe my expectations were kinda high coming into this place but this place was horrible. Let me re=phrase that not horrible just not good. I don’t mind paying for good stuff but when it’s pricey and not good together, forget about it. Maybe i had a bad batch or something because i keep reading good things about this place but my experience ehhh wasn’t worth it. I’ll try it again and we’ll see what happens, until then 2 stars it is. Honorable Mention: can’t say i have one

Very tasty jerky and this business owner is a pretty cool guy too. I eat what is primarily a vegetarian diet, but, every now and then I like to eat venison jerky, and this place sells it!(They also had alligator, buffalo, and other meats). The prices were a bit steep, hence the 4 star rating. But price was the only negative thing I have to say about this business, and, besides, I wound up buying the venison jerky for around $ 13. I learned that the fellow in the shop was the owner. We had a great chat and he educated me on the history of Big Bear, its local wildlife, and hunting laws and regulations. I also learned that the deer used to die so that we can eat their dried, smoked flesh are farm-raised, and meet all the government standards for clean and safe meat to be sold for public sale and consumption. So, the venison I bought was TASTY. I mean, it was nice and gamey and the seasoning didn’t rob from that rich, gamey taste that makes venison so delicious. Also, it was a pleasure speaking to the gentleman in the shop. I just wish I could have paid under $ 10 for the goods!

While walking around«The Village,» we accidentally stumbled upon this great find! The«House of Jerky» seems to be an overstatement for this little hole-in-the-wall. The dimensions of this place can only be described as a strip, where you walk straight in, browse their unique selection of jerky on the right side of the strip, pay at the end, and then turn around to walk straight out. The selection appears to be limited, but there actually is a vast variety of unique flavors that I have never seen before. It ranged from the different flavors of the traditional Beef jerky to Buffalo jerky, Venison jerky, Ostrich jerky, Turkey jerky, Alligator jerky, Wild Boar jerky, Kangaroo jerky, and many others! I went with their unique flavored jerky sampler — which included all over the above and some more. It was $ 19.99 for ten sticks/jerky that were the around the size of a regular«slim jim» or slightly bigger. Always up for an eating adventure, we tried their Ostrich jerky first. It was actually ostrich mixed with beef. Even though the familiar taste of hickory smoked beef jerky was acknowledged, there was something else to it. I can’t describe it in words, it can only be experienced through taste… at least once in one’s lifetime!
