PRO: Tangerine Brew(can’t recall the name) is a must try surprisingly refreshing. Live Music the two times family & friends visited. Flights are perfect to see just the great variety this place offers. CON: Small space, compacted not very modern for most people who live down the mountain and aren’t local.

Yesterday My Son and I decided to go patronize our nearby brewery just walking distance from our house. We are new residents here in Big Bear Lake and enjoy searching for new hidden treasures to go tantalize our taste buds. We found everyone employed at this facility friendly engaging and extremely versed in their foods and beer selection. I enjoyed their sampler beer set up and was particularly fond of their tangerine blonde beer! Delicious! We shared a hamburger fried pickles and my son had a bowl of their chili everything was cooked to perfection; well done guys we will be back.

Cool local spot with solid beer. Saturday night had live music, which only added to the atmosphere. Not sure how busy it gets typically, but being away from The Village I’d assume it’s usually relaxed. Worked for me! The beer flight was definitely worth it. We enjoyed some more than others, but it was a good price to try all 6. I’d definitely leave with a growler.

$ 7.50 for a beer??? Ummmmmm… No thanks. Not sure if there is visitor gouging going on or what. Cool location, beers just OK, but prices need some rethinking. Might be the last beer we have here, unfortunately.

Stopped in here before we left town to head home after Mothers Day weekend. This place is a great local down home place. The décor is really old school and the beers are really good as well. Didn’t try the food but it didn’t look bad. There was a solo musician working for tips while we were there and he was not loud at all. Which was great. In fact I tipped him because I could still talk in a conversational tone to the people around me without competing with the singing. This place should be on anyone’s list for a visit to Big Bear. While here get the tasting flight it’s probably the best value you will get as far as beers are concerned.

Operating from within an old Masonic Lodge built in 1924, Big Bear Mountain Brewery is the most unique spot in Big Bear Lake to grab a beer and relax. Yes it is small but you get personalized service and can actually hold conversations even when there’s live music. The beer is varied and, although not brewed on the premises(they have a local brewery craft the batches), each brew retains a distinct original recipe flavor. The English Pale Ale was a favorite of mine. The food is really tasty for pub grub. There are no pretentious items so don’t expect your burger meat to be massaged. The wings are off the chart, totally crispy and meaty. Try the hot sauce with them. It’s hot. Every menu item is perfectly placed for the price and beer pairing. The staff was knowledgable about every aspect of their menu and were friendly. The brewery got real busy but the staff stayed on top of it. Don’t expect to be walked to your table when it’s hopping, if you can get a seat. Thick Air was the band and they were way too good. Two guys(guitar and bass) playing great folk tunes, lots of great Dead, Dylan, Haggard, Willie Nelson tunes and seemed to fit in perfectly as they were really subdued but absolutely rocked. As I stated earlier, you could hold a conversation easily while the music played. The prices are reasonable and it is a brewery in a competitive market(resort town). If you’re unhappy with what you got, try asking nicely for something else. You’re spending money anyhow so why not do so where the value is worth it? Big Bear Mountain Brewery is worth it.

Easy place to get in and out of off big bear Blvd. Good food, great ambiance! Expect an easy meal. Blt & chili is worth every penny. Live folk music was fun and be sure to write on a dollar and put it on the wall for fun future memories :)

Food, beer, cocktails & service were great! We had Jack as our server… Super cool! Music could be a little more upbeat. No much slow country!!!

This is our go to place when we visit Big Bear every year. Matthew is also friendly and prompt in his service. Cozy little gem outside of town with great beer prices and selections. Definitely try a flight for your first time. The chili is great, so is their honey blonde. This past trip they had a live singer and he sang Happy Birthday to our friend which was pretty neat. Definitely a must– stop place when going through Big Bear Lake. Draw on a $ 1 bill as well and they’ll hang it on the wall as a keep sake!

The moment you walk in you’re hit in the face with a plume of grease and loud music. We didn’t try any of the food but the beer was pretty good… unfortunately they didn’t have any IPA… oh well. We tried the honey blonde and tangerine wheat.. both smooth and enjoyable. The place is super small so if it’s full you’ll have to sit outside which might be uncomfortable depending on weather. There is also a sign on the door that states it costs $ 5 to use the bathroom if you don’t order food.. since we didn’t order any food I decided to hold it until back at the cabin. .which annoyed me.

UGH!!! Over $ 10 for an order of TWO chicken tenders!!! My friend and I were in awe… but a little toasted and hungry so in our happy spirits we thought«portion control!» — but no seriously, after thinking about it, we ordered 2 large tangerine wheats and the chicken tenders to share… obviously not enough food and very overpriced for the portion! the place does have a cool vibe — there wasn’t really any seating but another family offered to let us sit at their picnic table on the front porch — the service is really nonexistent as we had to go in and ask for our check, etc. Overall I guess it’s a cool place to check out — but not for food!

So I know it’s a brewery and I should be talking about the beer mostly, but it’s the food that makes this place great! OMG — the crestline is the only place I have ever been able to find wings this crispy, they give you three choices fro dipping sauce, we picked ranch, blue cheese and buffalo sauce(yum) and we had the ranch beans(ok, they need a little help like some raw jalapenos) and the chili which was good but not outstanding. The beer is tasting enough, like the little beaver, but being from SD I’m not gonna lie, our craft beers rock! Trust me though even if they had no beer we would return for those damn wings!

There are only two breweries in BB and this is one of them. We heard that one of them has great food and the other has great beer. We decided to go with the one we heard has great beer. To our surprise, the food was pretty decent. My favorite dish was the good ‘olé fashioned crispy chicken fingers! The spinach artichoke dip in a bread bowl was pretty awesome too. The beer was definitely as good as we heard it would be. I suggest going with the 6-cup beer flight for $ 12 so you can sample all the flavors. The reason I give this place only 3 stars is because this location is really small. We had to sit outside(in 30 degree weather) because the inside was so small.

This place is nice local restaurant located on the way up to big bear on big bear blvd. We came here on a friday after snowboarding and were seated immediately in the warm lodge — there was a guy playing the guitar and singing which gave it a nice ambiance. There was a small selection of beers(6 — i think they were all locally brewed so a nice plus). I ordered the stout and my brother ordered the orange wheat. Beers were reasonably priced about $ 6 for a pint. We also ordered chicken wings which were very delicious — fried and battered in house. This place has decent food — and a decent selection of beer. I would definitely consider coming back here again after snowboarding.

We stop by here every time we visit Big Bear. Small brew pub that offers 6 of their own beers as well as the standard stuff. I really enjoy the honey blonde and tangerine wheat! Both feel light and taste refreshing and you can really pick up the flavors. They have a couple small brew tanks that are visible but they appear to contract brew too since they distribute. You can buy bottles here to go(bottled in Irvine). I recommend getting the flight(sampler set)! It’s only $ 10 and you get to try 5 oz pours of all their beers. Decent bar food at good prices. I’m a fan of the fried green beans! They come crunchy but not overcooked and you get a generous serving. It’s a few min from The Village which we actually prefer. There is private parking and a few outdoor tables as well(dog friendly!). Do not mistaken this with the Big Bear Lake Brewing Company… Mountain came first =P

This review is written on atmosphere and the beer. First of all, the pub is at an old house and the bar desk was of solid oak, how cool! It has a very nice atmosphere and has kept the older style. Please continue to do as well as modern pubs have no character. This place has. I had the honey blonde which was so fresh and with a nice aftertaste. Very distinct! The pale ale was a favorite with hubby. If we could have parked the car for the evening, we would have tried all their brews If you like places with character and beer; go here!

The best two ways to visit this cozy house-like joint: Get a beer flight on the way into town. Or get a beer flight on the way out of town.

So you’ve got the two breweries in Big Bear, and they couldn’t be more different. Big Bear Mountain Brewery has been around a lot longer, and isn’t located in the hip core of Big Bear. It’s on the outskirts right on the road you drive into town on, located in an older, yellow barn. After a nice hike, we stopped in here on our way back to our house. The interior is homey, with a log cabin type feel. Seating is fairly limited, but they do have a kitchen. We opted for the flight, but were in general a little disappointed with the beers. The Little Beaver was the lone standout, with some of the others displaying some off flavors. On a nice day, the patio out front would be a nice place to sit with our dogs, but this particular day was cold and blustery.

We needed to kill some time before we met up with the rest of our group so we decided to stop here. It’s a small place that looks like it’s a refurbished house. I got the beer sampler which came with their 6 beers. 1: honey blonde, 2: tangerine wheat, 3: California pale ale, 4: pale ale, 5: red, 6: and porter. I don’t recall their names but #4 was my favorite. It tasted the most hoppy to me. I wouldn’t say these beers were amazing. In my opinion, they all tasted kind of watery. As for food I only tried the spinach cheese dip which was good, but nothing special. They have a bunch of dollar bills on the wall that customers have drawn on so we decided to do that. They provided us with crayons and markers and that was fun, especially for the kid in me.

Decent place to grab some food and beer in Big Bear that is not in the village. Outside seating is pet friendly but there was only 2 tables so seating is limited. Inside seating is pretty small. Only 1 bathroom and the lock is broken. Service was ok. The waitresses did not greet us when we walked in to try and get menus. Took like 5 minutes before the guy at the bar acknowledged me and brought us menus outside. After that, he was pretty decent. Big Bear Burger — $ 9.95 — Not really a burger, its on sliced bread. Comes with grilled onions and cheese. Meat and onions were ok. I had to add my lettuce from my salad to make it not so dry. Marina Special — $ 7.95 — Fish and chips. Fish was fried nicely but you could tell it was not fresh. Fries were basic fries. Beer Flight — $ 10 — 65oz samples of there home brews. There were some hit and misses. I liked the English Pale Ale and disliked the Chocolate Potter.
