Black Diamond Tavern

The food was okay. We started off the meal sharing the strawberry salad and it was very refreshing. I had the fish and chips and the fish was very good however the chips were undercooked. My dad had the baby back ribs and they were delicious and the bbq sauce was very good. However my mother had the citrus chicken and it was awful. It was very dry and had no seasoning at all. For claiming to be citrus chicken there was no citrus at all. We had the waitress bring extra sauce thinking there was not enough on the chicken to taste and all the «sauce» was is melted butter. All in all I would suggest just sticking with simpler foods like pizza, hamburgers, ribs, and fish and chips (just ask for the fries to be cooked a little longer).

Tender, falls off the bone, bbq sauce was yummy.
Good clean atmosphere. The live music was on par!
Everyone was singing.
Bar was clean, bathroom was clean. Cool people sitting at the bar.
I’m a tourist and they welcomed me with open arms.

Food is excellent but the space is not my style.

So each time I go to big bear I have to make a trip to this wonderful spot– they make some really good food here and everything is delicious and home made. so far I’ve had the blue cheese burger and it was by far one of the best burgers I’ve had and most recently I had the citrus chicken which was amazing esp since I love artichoke hearts. The combination of the spinach, tomatoes and artichoke hearts are perfectly bslanced w a slight citrus flavor which made for sublime yummimess! …great food… good service.
Side note: Its funny to me that people go to a place that has Tavern in its name and then complain about how loud it is… if you are sensitive to loud music you might want to call to check on who’s playing before you and/​or go when there is no music as you don’t want to miss out on a great dining experience because of that issue.

Super food and great service– one of the best places to eat in Big Bear Lake. Prices are reasonable and live music on weekends .

Came back during winter season and was disappointed. The 3 stars is for our waitress who was very sweet as is everyone in big bear. They no longer serve their homemade kettle chips and jalapeño dipping sauce! Ugh cheapos! And my turkey club sandwich sucked and my bffs hangover pizza was undercooked. My mom and bros burgers were OK but nothing spectacular. I won’t be coming back.

Location is about 10 min away from The Village but was worth the drive. Food is a little pricey but it makes sense because of the ambiance of the restaurant. We ordered blackened salmon, Tavern burger, wedge salad, and calamari. Everything was really tasty except for the calamari which lacked some flavoring. The drinks were good too! Our server was nice but the hostess kinda threw us off because of her seemingly rude question «Is that a service dog?!» versus asking «Would you like to sit outside in our patio with your dog?» I mean we already knew that we can’t have our Shi Tzu inside but we also didn’t wanna go straight to the patio without informing them that we had planned to eat there.
Still highly recommended though!

Went here for happy hour, and glad I did. Great pricing on well drinks for me, and a fairly extensive selection of wines by the glass for my wife. Also a good selection of happy hour food, at reasonable prices. I had a bowl of chili, which was pretty good.
The bartendress, Aimee, was friendly and attentive, despite the bar area being pretty crowded. We have added the Black Diamond Tavern to add to our list of go-​to spots when we’re in town.

One of the most friendly waitstaff I have ever had! They helped when they were off, checked on us frequently without being overbearing, and the food was incredible.
Their steak is delicious, I could have had an entire extra cup of chowder.

We really enjoyed the vibe of this place. Modern, nice, live music, good food. Wait was not bad on a Saturday night. Service was great.
They were out of a few things we wanted to try but we enjoyed all that we ordered:
Beer battered shrimp app: delicious, small portion for sharing, but still tasty and worth it
Salmon burger: delicious. They waaaay over cooked the salmon though so we let her know and got two new salmon filets.
Bbq chicken pizza: tasty and as expected
Apple crisp: they were out of vanilla ice cream but we ordered anyway with whipped cream
Also the strawberry basil cocktail was delish!
Great dinner spot for a few LA girls visiting the area.

Aimee took care of our divining and cocktail needs at the bar… Awesome friendly service… Omg she goes above and beyond… A true hospitality professional. I keep coming here with my brother because of the great service and food

BUMMER experience all around. With a group of 7 on a Monday night. Place was less than a quarter full. The hostess openly said she did NOT want to put a table together to fit us. I even offered to do it myself.
We got our drinks and food order in quick. All good from this point. Then came the wait. And more waiting. The restaurant is almost cleared out by this point. After waiting more, I literally lost track of how long we waited for our orders to come out.
Finally all the orders came out. 3 of us had Prime Rib Dips. All came with the smallest amount of Au Jus. Kinda of the most important part of the meal. On top of that the meat was over cooked and dry. Fries were soggy. A handful of the other orders had mistakes as well. The waitress kept using the term «sorry forgot to get that».
Overall, never going back. Enough choices up here to go else where.

We frequent Big Bear and this is one of our favorite places to eat. We never had a problem with staff and food except for this last time when they seemed busier and the food took forever to come out. We had a big party and we have all been here before and loved the food, but this time, some of the people were quite disappointed. They talked to the manager and she was super nice and understanding and apologized for our experience. My fiancé and I had the braised short rib and scallops carbonara and both were delicious as always (you can’t go wrong with those two entrees). The best thing here: they give you a free dessert for your birthday! We always get the chocolate chip baked cookie & ice cream and it is sooooooo GOOD!!!

They told us it would take an hour for a table of ten, we got seated in 15 minutes right before we almost left! The food is good, presentation is awesome and the service is great!

I came here for a friend’s birthday. We had a group of 11 people and we made reservations. When we arrived, they placed us at a table for 8. It was super awkward and some people were standing. The restaurant told us to wait until the table next to us left. (They were still eating.) So we walked around the restaurant and found a long open section. (Not sure why we weren’t sat there in the first place.) So we complained and asked to be moved. They obliged. They hostess/​self proclaimed manager was TERRIBLE.
Our waitress was a blonde woman who did an EXCELLENT job handling all of us. She always had a smile and never seemed annoyed. She did great even when we asked for separate checks.
The food was slim pickings because the delivery trucks didn’t make it up the mountain due to the storm, so I suppose I can’t judge for that. I got the New England Claim Chowder and it was adequate in taste, but warm in temperature. My friend also go the Chowder and hers wasn’t hot either. Apparently we got the last of the soup… but I don’t understand why that makes it less hot.
I also ate the Southwest Salad. It was adequate. Overall, I wish I chose something else for both items.
My friend got the fish and chips and enjoyed them.
The restaurant was cold and every time the door opened we would literally shiver. I know it’s winter in Big Bear, but maybe the heat could have been 1 or 2 degrees higher.
They have LIVE MUSIC. This was AMAZING! The guy who came sang and played guitar and he had the best song selection. I loved the live music.

I have to say I was impressed with Black Diamond Tavern the last time we visited. I visited in years past and always thought the décor was nice, the food sounded amazing, but was just fine. I did remember that their drinks were very good.
We went last week with a group of friends and the drinks were still very good, but the food was also pretty good! We ordered the nachos, fish tacos and soups all which were very yummy!

This place is amazing! They can get pretty packed with service being slow BUT they make up for it by having food come up within 10 – 15 mins! Okay the food is pricey yet delicious but it’s typical when you’re on the mountain.

We visited over a busy holiday weekend and the amazing hostess helped us out big time when we wanted to get seats at the bar to catch our hockey game on TV. There are three TV’s by the bar and half the restaurant is seated in area by the bar… So I think when it’s not busy season, it would be pretty easy to grab a spot to watch the game.
The food was delicious! We started off with the baja tacos and my boyfriend loved the cod so much, he ordered the Fish & Chips as his entrée. Seriously, amazing fried fish! I would say maybe one of the best Fish & Chips I’ve ever tried. The pizza here is also delicious and I love that they have black truffle oil on the menu… yum! Many more options on the menu if you want something more substantial (steak, ribs, chicken, pasta, etc.)
I love a bar with good food! This place is the PERFECT option when you want to catch a game but don’t feel like going to a regular sports bar or just for a nice night out!

I stopped by here after a big bear lake excursion.
Super inviting interior. Has live entertainment and tons of seating.
We had the CALAMARI to start and i loved the seasoning. The batter held on really well so it was crunchy and tasty. Loved the sauce it came with too!
I ordered a double roasted CHICKEN WITH BALSAMIC GLAZE. The glaze was delicious and the chicken wasnt at all dry. Huge portions. They are heavy handed with the mash and veggies.
My boyfriend had the STEAK SALAD which had well cooked steak though I thought overall the flavors of the salad were just ok.
My dad had the NEW YORK SKIRT STEAK which was also really good. I enjoyed the chimmichurri they topped it off with. This one comes with a baked potato with all the fixins.
My mom had the SOUTHWESTERN CHICKEN SALAD which she said was pretty good although she had a dislike towards the dressing which she got on the side so she ended up asking for a side of french dressing. I tasted the dressing and it had an overwhelming dill flavor. Not sure thats good with the theme of the salad.
His grandma had the BLACKENED SALMON which was severely undercooked so they took it back only to bring us the same salmon that was now dry because they threw it on the grill twice so it was overcooked. Really didnt like this one.
And we all shared the BLACK DIAMOND PIZZA which was really good but I wish there were more toppings. Compared to everything else here, the toppings were really slim but overall flavors were there. Loved the arugula on top. Made it fresh and yummy.
They did actually comp us the undercooked salmon and an appetizer because two of the items i tried to order were no longer available. Overall the service is fabulous and the food is ok. There are some hits and some things that need work.
