Susan’s Needlearts

This store is friendly and inviting. There was a great group of women that welcomed you as you walked in the door and Susan was very helpful. Their sweet dog was snuggled up with all the women as they created beautiful crochet and knitting projects. They served homemade cookies and just made me want to come back and soak up all the warmth that filled that store. I absolutely loved this store!

Cute little place up in Big Bear. The ladies were so sweet. Loved it. They were very helpful to this beginner as well.

This is a small shop geared towards a small community. First, Buddy the dog greets you at the door with a friendly wag of the tail. You walk in and see a table you can sit at to get help or to plan a project. The owner is very friendly and helpful without condescension. There is a somewhat limited selection of yarn, mostly acrylics, but lots and lots of free patterns so that is a big plus if you want a project without having to spent $ 10 on instructions. She carries about two dozen painted needlepoint canvases. She has stretcher frames. She has few charts for counted work but does have a selection of charts for hardanger, black work, and other techniques in addition to counted cross stitch. For threads, she has DMC in floss and in a fair number of pearl cotton sizes, some River silks, Threadworx, Soie d’Crystal, Sullivan’s floss and Kreinik. She has some canvas rolls but no linen/​even weave fabrics other than some small pieces in tubes. She also has some very basic yarn spinning equipment. Most of the needlework is sold as kits, but again she has kits that teach a variety of techniques. A friendly and immaculate store geared to the more beginning needle worker.

I’m a semi-​beginner with knitting & love yarns of all kind! While here on vacation I neglected to bring all the supplies necessary for my project/​s. Saw the sign for new location & was so happy to discover a fully stocked, well-​supplied yarn store!
