Denny’s

My boyfriend and I came around 7pm on a friday night. We were seated immediately and our waitress (Skye is her name) was honestly the nicest person and she was so attentive but not annoying at all. She refilled our drinks constantly, and was all around just a really nice girl. The food was pretty great, I got the steak and cheese mashed potatoes with brocolli. Overall I loved the service and food. Thank you Skye!

My family and I have been coming here for years. Some of the waitresses aren’t as nice but Janet, the manager, is super nice and outgoing. She has the best customer service. Will continue to come here! :)

I asked if I could substitute eggs for something else on the country fried steak and eggs. With a blank look, «you can get it without eggs.» Genius.

It’s Denny’s you all know what it’s like y’all know what it taste like it’s solid America food. We were here at 1 AM and it served it’s purpose. I got breakfast which was awesome and the staff was nice and yes I was drunk don’t judge me just know that I took a über home so I was safe. This is one of the only places in big Bear Lake that is open 24 hours a day so you don’t have much of a choice of where to go at that time of night. You know you love this place you know you’re going to go there the next time you’re drunk it’s late and you’re starving so I don’t understand why you are still reading this review you should just be eating eggs by now.

The hostess with the BIG hair sure is a piece of work. We got in late due to car problems and a looong tow. Started our meal off here with this hostess criticizing us for having kids up so late. Even after a friendly explanation she wouldn’t let it go. Very rude.
Then our server was too busy eating with a co-​worker to bother helping us much. She didn’t crack a smile the entire time, rushed us and was short with questions. Just terrible service.
Here’s two people that should not be in the service industry. Or maybe they were simultaneously having bad days? Either way, I had to pay money for a meal they were intent on ruining.
I didn’t want to eat here at all but no one else was open late. A vending machine would have treated us better.

AWFUL SERVICE! They are way under staffed so the wait is ridiculous. We were there for almost 2 hours. Some employees looked experienced but I got stuck with a waitress who was very unattentive (a blonde with way too much blue eyeshadow on that night Friday 2÷26÷16 but I don’t remember her name). We had to get up and get her from the kitchen multiple times (where she had been chatting to another employee) because we had been waiting so long. OUR FOOD EVEN CAME OUT COLD! My hot chocolate was cold! And my friend’s BACON CHEESEBURGER came WITHOUT BACON!
I love Denny’s but I will NEVER be back to this location.

Breakfast! We love their Chicken noodle soup so we always order the Bowl. My mom tried the Clam Chowder (small) and she loved it. It’s because yesterday, when we ate lunch at Snow Summit, she ate Clam Chowder and loved it so she wants it again.

When we arrived, the lady who greeted us put us on a table since there’s only one medium booth left. If possible, we always prefer booth since it’s softer. When she put the utensils for a second I mentioned can we sit somewhere around the back, there’s a couple of booth left and she said that part is closed. I said what about on the last booth around the middle. She didn’t say anything and head over there.
I’m not sure if it was only me, but I think she was irritated by me insisting a booth. I guess I’m used to the ones greeting at the door to ask if we want a table or booth or even ask is this ok for you, which she didn’t. She has long hair (dark blonde) and red earrings that look like a snake or an S far away.
Our server Melinda, who was lovely, mentioned at first it’s too early for soup. While sad, my dad chose a sandwich real quick to cover that order. After a minute, she came back and said soups are actually ready. Of course my dad said he prefer soup than the sandwich. As she was leaving, my mom said can I have the clam chowder small. So yeah.
I ordered ‘Build your Own Grand Slam’, toasts, bacon, hash brown and eggs, and mom got ‘Ultimate Skillet’ (photo above). All great!

Not the experience you’d expect to receive from a Denny’s. After a full day of hanging out in the snow, we thought we’d have dinner at a restaurant that everyone would like. When we showed up the first thing we saw was a «Cash Only» sign. After asking the hostess we learned their machines were down. No big deal it happens. It was pretty busy but we were seated within ten minutes. I asked the waitress for a children’s menu — they ran out. After ordering, we wait about 45 minutes before getting our food which was less than appetizing. Now our sleeping toddler wakes up and we ask to order from the kids menu only to be told they’ve run out of half of them items. I know certain areas aren’t used to being busy but for a Denny’s there’s an expectation that surely wasn’t met at this location.

Service is really slow!
There weren’t so many people, they took FOREVER to bring our food.
Don’t recommend this place at all!

I want Sky back she’s the only good server. If she doesn’t come back I’m going to cry.

Had lunch with my family here. Our group of 6 was seated quickly. The waiter was pleasant and attentive. The food was actually good especially the country fried steak and mash potatoes. The salmon was a lot smaller than the photo on the menu.

Hadnt had Dennys in long while but came in to try it! Glad We did. My kids loved their Rudolph the red nose pancake & blt sandwich was great too! I had their pecan pancake breakfast it was awesome! Service is friendly and very attentive! !

We came in at 1030 on a Monday morning with 9 people. Gave the woman our name and stood there for about 10 minutes while she chatted with a customer she apparently knew. Finally she took us to our booth where we sat for 30 minutes without anyone even acknowledging us. It wasn’t like it was busy. There were only maybe 4 other groups in the restaurant and the server checked on the tables next to us multiple times. Nothing. There were 9 of us. Hard to miss. We ended up leaving and on the way out every employee we passed said «thanks! Have a nice day!»… Fail.

The server was nice, let me just start out (with a positive). But, everything afterwards were disappointing.
The restaurant was half empty, so I don’t know why our 2-​people orders took a long time to arrive. And when they finally came, not only the foods weren’t hot, they also got our orders wrong & ignored (?) our requests.
So, obviously our foods have been sitting out for awhile before they finally reached our table for them to not be hot.
I had asked for my eggs to be over easy but well done. When they came, they weren’t cooked all the way and had to be sent back. I totally had forgotten about them because they brought them back out when I was more than half way done with my plate.
Asked for the hash browns to be extra crispy and they weren’t.
Asked for a side of gravy when we placed the order and it didn’t come with our meal. Had to re-​request it and waited about 5 mins for it.
Ask for water without ice and although they were truly without ice, they were ice cold.

My husband and I ate here on Sunday night around 9pm. We were immediately greeted by Janet, who we believe to be the manager! So friendly and welcoming! A Sweet waitress took our drink orders immediately! (I can’t remember her name tho) She took our order and we had our food come out pretty fast! It was nice and fresh, I ordered the Cali club sandwich and my husband the Santa fe skillet! I’ve been coming up to big bear for the past 20 years and never liked to eat out because of the quality of food and service, so I was skeptical of even eating here! But we left Happy! N next time we are up here we are coming back!

Worst place, 40 minutes for breakfast, the waitress was nice but overall very mediocre and lack of managing, this is the last time I eat ad this chain food.

One star is something that I don’t give to locations very easy. Just look at my other reviews. Now THAT being said…
This place sucks.
Took us to a tiny booth. Waitress came over after a couple of minutes and took our drink order… Orange juice and an iced tea no lemon. A couple came and sat behind us. Drinks came after a few minutes. I took out the unwanted lemon. Waitress came back and took our orders. Then she went to the couple behind us and took their order. I went to drink my tea and there was something black floating in it.
Waitress was no where to be seen for 10 minutes. When we finally saw her she was delivery food to the couple behind us. Seriously? Ok. Still no food or drink. 5 minutes later… there’s our food. But wait… My order is wrong. She finally takes my drink to replace it and get my order corrected. 2 minutes later… there’s my drink, safe this time to drink. Took another 5 minutes for my turkey bacon to arrive. Limp and lukewarm.
I never have left such a small tip. Felt weird but was well earned!
Save your time and money… go somewhere… anywhere other than this Dennys!

I came here on the way to Snow Summit to grab a hardy breakfast because I will be needing the energy for the physical activities I had planned in the afternoon, and because I was «Super» starving.
I ordered the Grand Slam breakfast combo, and it was priced very reasonable, and the person taking the order was nice and smiling. The service was quick. Food was fresh and hot! After finishing I felt full enough to meet the challenges of the day — mentally and physically.
Parking is limited because this location is near Snow Summit. There were a few tour buses in the parking lot.
I definitely will return to this restaurant in the future for a hearty meal because it is close to Snow Summit and has great service. However, I need to remove one star for the parking situation but it really does not affect the service and food!
