Short stop hamburgers used to be reasonably priced not anymore I stopped going there six months ago because of the bill today I went because of convenience my order was not what I expected. My cheese burger was messy and I paid for a large fry. And got a small if it was even that I chose not to call and complain because it would mean I would have to go back so they could fix the problem. I will be going to Dans or schlotzskys from now on and get my ten dollars worth!!! this short stop is on manchaca and William cannon

Fast, fairly cheap and pretty good. It’s not Whataburger! Purchased the chicken strips, bacon cheeseburger and a regular burger. $ 20.00 All meals. Roughly the same price as Whataburger. If you get the special then it’s a deal, otherwise it’s just ok.

It’s a drive through fast food burger. Very convenient because it’s right across from my work. I would much prefer it over any other fast food burgers(ie. McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys). Mondays and Wednesdays(I think) they have #1’s(burger and fries) for very cheap $ 5 and some change, so I usually go there on Wednesdays for a hump day treat! I have never had to wait more than 3 minutes to order and get my food… very fast! I’ve also had the chicken strips… I prefer the burger!

This is my go to place when I want a fast, inexpensive, great tasting burger. I completely agree with Steven N., the other mainstream fast food burger joints just don’t measure up. If you can hold off till a Wednesday or Saturday, their specials are a steal. I love that it comes with everything on it(condiments) and the fries are amazing! My only criticism: If you are getting more than one order, ask for them in separate bags. I’ve had the bun of the bottom burger become soggy because of the heat from the burger on top.

I’ve been to this Short Stop probably 100 times. I grew up around the corner and we would always go to here as a kid, and at lunch in High School. Just a really good, simple hamburger at fast food prices. Boy I wish we had one of these in Houston.

My g/f and I stopped by this small burger joint on the way home from the grocery store. After passing up the Texadelphia right next door(against my judgement), we ordered the basic combos with a burger, fries, and a drink. After receiving the order from the teller(fast and friendly), and reaching in to gobble up some fries, they are cold & soggy. Once we arrived home less than 2 miles away(and no we didn’t unload the groceries first b/c we were starving), the bun was completely soaked through. I was immediately skeptical, and only after taking the top bun off did I take a bite. Even after I told them to *86 the mustard, mayo, and ketchup, the bun was sopping wet. Burger patty was small and almost flavorless. All in all, not a great burger, but at least the Coke had ice in it! Next time I’ll stop by the Top Notch, or even have the better judgement to grab a Texadelphia.

I love the food here. The burgers are tasty and the fries are always hot. The best thing about Short Stop, though, is its staff. They’re so friendly and have really positive attitudes. I’m in a better mood after I stop by.

A good burger and fries for a great price. These aren’t the best burgers you will ever have, but they are darn good! It has been a local favorite of mine for over 20 years.

I love their burgers and their fries are great too. The burgers are greasy and finger lickin good. If you don’t like greasy fast food burgers you should get outta town. ;)

Great burger, great fries, super cheap, especially on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It’s not a place you’re going to run out and tell all your friends about after you have it, but if happy to be driving by, you could do a hell of a lot worse.

I have worked right across the street from Short Stop for almost three years now. I just tried it for the first time a few days ago. The short story is this. I would rather have Burger King, Dairy Queen, Whataburger, or even Sonic. But if I need a super fast and damn cheap lunch, Short Stop would do in a pinch. Pros: Cheap and Fast Cons: It’s very«meh», even for fast food.

Old fashioned home made burger and the fires are hot and ready when you are; consistent and yummy.

It’s on the way to my work. Its super cheap, and its way better than any fast food burgers. I’ve had the burgers and the chicken sandwich. Both are great, and you can get burger, fries, drink and an apple pie for $ 5 to $ 6. Its awesome. The chicken sandwich has gravy, cheese, and jalapenos on it. Not healthy at all, but awesome.

I don’t know how anyone finds this place even remotely good. Every time I’ve been to this place I’ve been disappointed. Greasy, overcooked and not-so fresh lettuce. For whatever reason, I decided to breeze through and grab a burger at lunch today. Call it temporary insanity, but nothing’s changed. There are a hundred better options for a good burger in this city without even naming the any of the dreaded chains. But even McDonald’s is a better choice that this place.
This place reminds me of those old photo shacks where you drive thu to drop off your rolls of film… except you get a delicious mix of burgers, fries, and a drink… and you get it really cheap on Saturdays! Try it out then go to the park — it’ll be a great day.

Picture this… sitting at my office when the cell phone rings. I’ve got your lunch out in the parking lot. Walk outside and get a white paper bag filled with greasy goodness. The bag contained one delicious corn dog, one greasy hamburger, with everything, and one order of fries. Kinda soggy fries, and no ketchup or mustard(hence the 4 stars) but fast food goodness at its best!!!

Ah… fast food burgers the way they should be. Short Stop is the only«fast food» buger joint I ever go to these days(I’ve boycotted McD’s and the BK lounge for a long long time). It’s drive-thru or walk-up service only, which has a certain charm all it’s own. Nothing like getting your meal at a little shack that’s smaller than a rock and roll tour bus. They have locations all over Austin and apparently are also behind the Sandy’s Custard stand down on Barton Springs. The food — on those occasions where I’m hankering for an artery clogging good time, I opt for the Double Meat, Double Cheese burger with fries and an Ice-Tea. The burger is tasty, messy and finger licking good. Personally I think those people at Huts are getting hosed — Short Stop’s got em beat in my book. The fries are thin cut and golden brown — about on par with McDs. They never seem to salt them enough tho, so I have to ask for extra salt. My other usual here is the grilled chicken sandwich(hold the mayo). Good stuff. A note for you fountain drinking Coca-Cola afficionados — The fountain Coke at Short Stop was one of my favorites before I got off the sauce. So — if you’re in need of a quicky — skip the big chain burger joints and Stop in for the Short Stop.
