Nik always makes you feel like family! All of us had the Gyros and they were wonderful! If you get the urge for a pig roast — give Nik a call, He came to our house and provided everything we needed, we will be calling him again next year!!!

Worst greek food ever had. The small portion if souvlaki pork tasted like nothing, chewy and flavorless mystery meat. Tomatoes must be expensive in Albany because they were sliced thinner than a dime. And even the tziki, nothing, watery. $ 8.50 for tiny pita with no fries? And nothing greek about greek fries. Believe it or not, there is such a thing as greek spice, try using it. Owner should spend an hour or two in Astoria and take notes.

First time here. Ordered Chicken Souvlaki on a Pita which was delicious!!! The portion size was a little too small. Also ordered the egg plant dip of which the staff so nicely let me try. However, the dip was very salty and comes cold. Staff is very nice. There is a vegetarian option on their menu.

Great ethnic food. We got the gyro platter and the burger. The gyro was preferred — it was juicy and delicious. There was some white dill sauce on the gyro that we did not love the flavor of. The salad was good and the fries were unique and delicious. If I ever go back, I would go with the normal gyro next time, as this one was way too big. However I’ve been dodging this place because of the service at the front that seem disinterested and irritated with… life. This is definitely a take out spot. The ambiance inside is lacking any feel that would want to make you stay.

Super generous portion of meat in the gyros, the meat wasn’t too tough(like I’ve experienced in other gyros in the area), and the pita was fresh and delicious. The tzaziki is pretty dill heavy, so you may want to ask for it on the side if you aren’t a huge dill fan. Interior atmosphere is not super appetizing, I would get it to go in the future. Friendly service and delicious fries. I loved the greek salad on the gyro platter, nice quality and array of ingredients for a side salad. The all day breakfast options are great, especially if you have a hub who isn’t a big gyro fan but is a regular Ron Swanson. Definitely wasn’t the best gyro I’ve ever had but it is the best I’ve had in Albany. I am not in love with dill though.

Nik and his staff at Anton’s catered my Mom’s 60th surprise party this past weekend. The food, presentation and customer service were fantastic! We were able to customize the menu to include all types of food(pulled pork sliders, greek nachos, shrimp cocktail, make your hot dog bar, make your own baked potato bar, etc.!) Everyone in attendance raved about the food and many requested contact information for their next event!

Allow me to be succinct. I would rather be forced to orally copulate a rabid porcupine than eat here again. While the staff was friendly, the food sucked. Friday during lent means having a fish fry. I stopped in today and ordered the special. Yes, the fillet was large however it completely lacked any flavor. Also I damn near chipped a tooth on part of it. The fries and cole slaw were also devoid of flavor. The tarter sauce tasted like an anal discharge from a hooker from the streets of Calcutta, and not the nice part of Calcutta either.

This place smells heavenly! Nikolau was so friendly and informative as it was my first time! Best gyro in Albany, best anywhere I e had in the continental US. They have specials every day and make soups and everything all in house. Baklava looked great and so I had to pick one up as well. After 10 sandwiches you get one free. I love Greek food and if you do too, you must visit Antons.

The chicken gyros are fresh and so yummy! They have the spic thing there to shave the lamb right off the spindle thing if you are into that. I’m not but hey whatever YOLO. This place always had a soup of the day and the Greek salads are high five. The parking sucks here because of the store front on a busy street. So you need to look for parking on a near by side street or risk the Dunkin down the street but there’s a sign you could be towed.

Since moving to the Helderberg neighborhood several years ago, Anton’s has long been my go-to for carry out food. Throughout the years, I’ve sampled most of the menu, but always return to the gyro. More on that in a bit. It is my understanding that Anton’s changed their ownership sometime during the past couple of years. Originally, the business was owned and operated by a local family who were always well represented behind the counter. The service was friendly and the food was extraordinary. Since changing ownership, the friendly vibes of Anton’s has not changed one bit. Whether I’m calling to place an order or stopping in for a bite, the staff at Anton’s is personable and gracious. The restaurant is clean, both the dining area and the open-kitchen. The prices here are reasonable and they accept credit cards. Parking has historically been difficult at this location, due to its proximity to the hospital, but you can easily park around the corner on Allen Street. During its changing of the guards, I believe that Anton’s has lost something. The food remains delicious, but I find it to be a bit more inconsistent. When the gyros, hummus, and sandwiches are good, they are super good. Speaking specifically of the gyro, at its peak, the meat is tender, appropriately sliced, and with the right balance of spices. The pita is warm and slightly toasted on the outside. The vegetables are fresh and the tzatziki is light and tangy. However, this isn’t always the case. At times, depending on the time of day, the meat can feel a bit dry and overcooked. The meat to condiment ratio might be all out of whack, with the latter making up much of the wrap. The hummus, which is usually quite good, can take on a rather bland flavor and chunky consistency. Make no mistake, I really love Anton’s. I will continue to patronize this restaurant because when the food is good, it’s really great. Knowing that potential exists is enough to bring me back for more. My hope for Anton’s is that it will focus on consistently churning out the excellence they are capable of achieving in order to claim its place among the best restaurants in the area.

This was my first time trying Greek food. I’m pleased to say it was a good experience. I had a lamb gyro which was delicious. The fries are really good too. My friends that I went with are vegetarians and they had plenty of options.

The thing I love most about Anton’s is how well they work with the Allen Street Pub. For instance, you can call in and order a Pork Souvlaki from Anton’s and they’ll walk it on over to you as you sit at the bar of the Allen Street Pub. It’s the little things like this that make me want to keep doing business with Anton’s.

After having lived in Greece, it has been extremely difficult and frustrating to find Greek food that myself and my husband(who grew up/lived there 20+ years) could actually appreciate. It seems like places will add feta cheese and/or kalamata olives to a dish and all of the sudden it becomes«Greek.» We had tried eating here a few times before we were actually successful(not open on Sundays, they were closed for a wedding). We ordered once we got there and the wait was not long at all. A total of 10 minutes or so. The employee that helped us navigate their menu was extremely helpful and since it was our first time dining with Anton’s, they gave us cinnamon pita chips. Both of us wound up getting gyros. Imo, they were delicious. They were stuffed with meat, the tzatziki was great, and all of the veggies were fresh! We also had a Greek salad and spanakopita; both of which were worth it. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is interested in trying some yummy Greek food.

Great food as always. Gyros are consistently excellent. Service is always helpful and with a smile. If you eat in, they have nice plate arrangement. And the salads are always fresh.

Made a quick stop here to order a few gyros and some stuffed grape leaves. Space is small but a few tables in the back allows for eat-ins. Service was quick and I only waited about 5 mins for my whole order. The pita was soft and fragrant with a good amount of gyro meat. The tomatoes and onions with tzatziki sauce were right on! Finished with a side of stuffed grape leaves. I wouldn’t rush back for the grape leaves but definitely would stop back in for the gyros(and some souvlaki, greek fries, greek salad, or reuben). Definitely satisfied my gyro craving!

If you like great Greek meat, then you must stop here. It falls into the category of hole in the wall place that is unassuming with food that will keep you coming back for more! My chicken souvlaki was warm, tender, and juicy. My husband’s Ariel(equivalent to Greek cheesesteak) had thinly sliced meat and was a heavenly experience. Very reasonably priced. They also have a burger menu which I will make sure to try next time. We also shared an order of Greek fries that will have you saying«Opa»!

Dirt cheap and the gyros here are very good. Loads of gyro meat that had a nice dark brown crust. Pita that isn’t too thick or heavy. Tzatziki sauce that tasted of fresh dill. Small amount of tomato and onion. And the best part? No lettuce! Yes! The joint is a dump. But I say, SOWHAT? When the food is good I don’t care. The fries that came with my gyro were excellent too. Anton’s is my new go-to place when I crave a gyro.

Chicken souvlaki and lamb gyro were SO good. Packed with meat. Very filling. Sauce and seasoning were perfect. It was messy but you can’t be mad at that. Next time we will get he junior size. I hear people complain about price being high but you get a lot of food for the money. The spanakopita was not very good. We wouldn’t order it again. we didn’t enjoy the flavor. Very wet. We would come back again for sure!
