B’yond Style

I have been here a few times and over all I haver been happy. However, my last trip was a shock to my system. I asked to have eight inches cut off and then styled. Eight inches quickly escalated to close to ¹¹⁄₁₂! The hair style itself is cute, I just was not so sure about it at first. Now that I am used to the length it is very cute, easy to keep up, and I have gotten a lot of compliments!
I will be back again.

I’ve been going to B’yond Style since I move to Albany from Michigan two years ago. I found them on the Bumble+Bumble website. Kathryn does such an awesome job on my hair. I can bring in pictures of any random short hair cut (usually on my phone via Pinterest) and she subtly tweaks it and makes it perfect for my hair type and face shape. I’ve recently started having her do my color, which previously I was too cheap to have done professionally. What a difference. Love the salon, especially love Kathryn.

Drawn to this salon after reading many positive reviews. Trying to find a new hair stylist as mine has moved away. I won’t be returning. My hair stylist was sweet and very polite but did not seem to listen to anything I said I wanted. I brought photos with me and took time to explain exactly what I wanted. My haircut was nothing like that. I’m not one to complain, perhaps I wasn’t clear in the consultation, so I went on my way. I am now searching for another salon to fix it. In general, salon was a bit dirty. There was no beverages offered as stated in previous reviews. And there was hardly any conversation from the girls the entire time I was there except between themselves. Overall, I was disappointed because I was expecting a higher-​end salon experience due to the images created from previous reviews. Its nothing more than your average hair salon.

I would give it 10 if I could. Just moved out of Albany to NYC where I thought I would be able to get decent hair cut at any time. FALSE. They stylist have bigger egos then Kanye and half the talent! Bridgette on the other hand is true stylist. She is one of the most talented hair gurus around. She listens to what you want, and combines it with her expertise to give you a cut that is fantastic and uniquely your own. Furthermore, even when her cuts grow out, it grows out in the same style, therefore still presenting a polished appearance. Bridgette’s staff is friendly, fun and create genuinely enjoyable atmosphere to unwind. GO to Bridgette or any one at B’yond style, you will not be dissapointed!!! I will absolutely be returning home to get my next cut!

I purchased a Groupon a few weeks ago and called in to schedule an appointment. I was able to get an appointment fairly easily and went in at 10 on Saturday when they opened. I had purchased a conditioning treatment and haircut Groupon package for $ 39. Crystal was my stylist I had told her I just really needed a good trim with layers. The conditioning treatment was great left my hair feeling soft and bouncy. During our conversation before and during the haircut I had told her about an event I was attending later that night. She had asked me if I had any plans for my hair and I had said no and she offered to blow dry and curl it for me. She was so sweet to do that and yeah it was just some basic curling with a straightening iron but she was great! The hair turned out great. Also, I had asked her for some advice on my usually chaotic curly hair she had told me about some products (never pushing anything on me) and did recommend a keratin treatment. She suggested that I do some research since I’ve never heard of it and that I can come in to get one done. Needless to say because of my good experience I will look into it and would be open to returning to this salon.

I purchased a Groupon which was $ 59 for a haircut and half head highlights. I paid $ 20 extra and got a full head. The salon was clean, somewhat convenient location. i didn’t have quarters so I parked a block or so down on Allen Street, it’s a nice safe walk though in a bustling area. My stylist Kate couldn’t have been any sweeter. She was young and just adorable and pretty with nice healthy looking hair, which I like in a stylist. (nothing worse than sitting down with some cynical old hairdresser with crunchy 80’s hair) she gave a great consultation and we decided on a good color scheme I am very happy with. I was in and out in about 2 hours too which was nice bc some places just take so long. Granted the salon was pretty slow and I was her only customer though.
While I like my cut and color very much and thought Kate did a wonderful job, after looking at the service menu prices, sadly I doubt very much if I’d return. :(To receive the same same service I did the other day, I’d be paying over $ 200 with gratuity! That’s REALLY high for Albany in my opinion. If they lowered their prices to a more realistic level, I’d consider it, bc I am happy with my hair, but not $ 200+ happy…

I’ve been a client at B’yond Style since they opened 7 – 8 years ago. I followed Bridget there from another salon she worked at when she decided to open her own salon. She is worth every penny and honestly the prices are average so I cannot complain at all! They now have the full line of Bumble and Bumble products and all the girls there are so sweet! Everyone says hello and chit-​chats and they are always asking if you want water or if they can get you something else. They are a very professional and fun salon in a great location. Bring your quarters for the meters if you want a close spot or park for free a little further down the street and take a lovely walk down New Scotland to the salon. I cannot say enough good about them and any time I wasn’t 100% happy the first words are «what can we do to fix it?». Leaving there unhappy is almost unheard of and that’s why the reviews make me sad to read below. As a «regular», take my word for it!

My stylist, Samantha, was fifteen minutes late for my appointment and didn’t even apologize for the wait. It would be one thing if she had fallen behind on a prior appointment and apologized, but it was the first appointment of the day. Disappointing to say the least.

Have frequented B’yond Style for about 5 years.
Occasionally I get a cut at the mall. It’s not the same.

I went to this salon for the first time for what was probably a pretty drastic hair cut. I wanted to go from pretty long to shoulder-​length with side-​swept bangs. I think my stylist’s name was Katie. I showed her some pictures of the type of bang I was looking for and she seemed okay with it, but a little hesitant — like she wasn’t quite sure what she was doing. By the end of the cut, I ended up with my bangs being way too short! They took a quite a few weeks to grow back out to the point where they didn’t look awkward. I was disappointed that I put trust in a stylist and walked away with a poor haircut. Overall, the salon was disappointing as well — staff were not all that friendly and I felt somewhat rushed. For the price you pay here, you can get a much better cut elsewhere.

I had a stressful day, and was annoyed with myself for scheduling my hair appointment today. I realize now it was a great idea. The girls are so kind and I was even served a glass of wine. I feel more relaxed. They did a wonderful job on my hair and I would definitely go back!

I went here after hearing all the hype about this salon. Sadly, I must say, I don’t get it. I’ve had better hair cuts.
I was charged $ 34 for a wash, cut, and dry. I said «cut off about 3 inches» since the ends were so bad, she somehow heard 2. The ends still felt ragedy. However, she at least listened when I said I rarely put styling products in my hair. Overall, I felt like it was an OK experience for a decent hair cut, nothing to write home about.
