As far as airport food goes — not bad. There is not a lot to choose from in the B terminal and this looked to be the best option. I am not sure I would define the burgers as «gourmet» but they were better than fast food frozen meat-like mystery patties. It is the build your own concept with cheese and sides extra. The burger was moist and tasty. I ordered mine with«Alamo Sauce», lettuce and pickle on a wheat bun. The lettuce was fresh, the pickles small and standard dill, and the sauce. .. . there was a small orange smear on top of the lettuce. They have a small selection of standard beers and a few that are locally brewed. The local beers are listed on a very small board on the wall so we did not see it until after we had ordered. Service is friendly and there was a bit of a wait for the burger. They are served in plastic baskets with plastic flatware in a bag so this is not fancy table service. An OK option if you are here, hungry, and are waiting on your flight.

Without a doubt in the top five of worse experiences in restruants. We were stranded in the airport with two places out of food at 6:30. Our flight along with others had been delayed but none of that matter. After waiting in line for 45 minutes with my daughter then allowing a man to cut right in front of us… then the heartless waitress announces that the grill is closed because there is only one cook. No apology and really no feeling what so ever. I can promise this company will never get a penny of my money.

I had the pleasure of enjoying this amazing restaurant while traveling. The staff was an absolute joy. I think it was Amanda and Sandy who helped me… I’m not sure because I was so distracted by the food! I love to eat but being able to pick my burger down to the bun was out of his world. If you are traveling through SAT I suggest you by for some proper Texas hospitality and darn good grub.

Classic example of a bar trying to do food and really sucking at it… pre-made salad dry as a bone… chili was the worse I had and the waitress could care less because I wasn’t drinking she didn’t think my tab would be large and thus her tip wouldn’t be… she’s right about the trip… really wish Airports management would try the food they lease space to!

Came here for the last meal before our flight. They have wonderful breakfast options. I gave the tex mex burger a try. It was a chorizo patty, egg white, tomato and guacamole on their«skinny bun». The skinny bun is like the flatbread thins you get at the grocery store. The taste was fantastic. I’m not a fan of potent heat, so i was reluctant to try. I’ve never had chorizo before but this is truly fabulous. I’d compare it to a mild slow burn. If you get heartburn easily, you might want to try something else. Great stuff.

The One Where Sandy’s Craving for Burgers Was Finally Satisfied. I’ve been craving for burgers for weeks now. I’ve even had a few burgers here and there and was still craving it… until now. The last time I flew in/out from San Antonio international airport, I ended up at Vino Vines, which I love. Unfortunately, that was located in another terminal so I ended up trying this joint. They still had their breakfast sign up(served until noon, I believe) and it looked tasty. However, the bartender convinced me to try their burger. Her facial expression looked like«you’re so going to miss out!» So I ordered the burger. It’s like any other ‘new’ burger joint concept — you create whatever you want on there and viola! The burger wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the best thing either. Service was great. I wouldn’t mind coming back if I have to be at the United terminal again.

I had the unfortunate circumstance of having to get dinner at the San Antonio airport at the United terminal which had limited offerings for a somewhat healthy meal. When the guard recommended the Mexican restaurant by my gate, I went to check it out. Having just come from Mexico City I was not yet over my fix for enchiladas. However the addition of chili con carne on all items was definitely a turn off. Must have been a tex mex thing. So I ventured back up the ramp to this establishment. The first sign of oddness was that all the chairs were up on the tables. And there was an ugly(and unappetizing) sight of a blue broom in full view of anyone entering this place. Perplexed about whether or not they were open for business(it was around 7pm) I asked the only employee I could find. She seemed surprised by the question and stumbling over how to answer it, directed me to the bar. She pointed out the menu items trying to steer me to the $ 3 higher priced«Wagu» «local» beef. Her affirmative answer to my question about whether that beef was grass fed, was the basis of my decision to order it. She then guided me through the series of other options including cheese(+.89 on top of the $ 13.99). I selected all of my options but when finished was suprised that I wasn’t asked how I wanted my burger cooked. After all the term«gourmet burger» is in the title of this establishment! I would have expected that I would be consulted on how I wanted my burger cooked! So, as she was gliding away with my order, I asked her, «arent you going to ask how I want that cooked?» The look on her face was one of disdain. She said this«they are usually cooked medium to medium well». Well that isn’t specific enough for me who prefers a fair amount of pink in my burger(at better burger joints that would be medium). So I told her to please ask the cook not to overlook mine, as I want it medium with pink center. She said nothing – and complied. Obviously my request for how I wanted my burger cooked was out of line, or asking too much of this«gourmet burger» restaurant. My request proved to be just that, as the burger was not only over cooked but it was nothing special in the taste department making me wish I had saved the extra $ 3 and just ordered Angus. Also, they tried to save even more money for their bottom line by serving plastic utensils. Here are my recommendations to this establishment: Don’t scrimp on service by closing off table seating right smack during the dinner hour. Don’t leave an unsightly broom out in the open. Serve with metal utensils. It’s hard to cut a burger with a skimpy plastic knife. And unless you plan to change the name of the restaurant to Fast Food Burger Joint, make the godamn burgers to order!

Needs a Heath inspection. I didn’t personally eat here but today my friend grabbed a Greek salad out of their prepared foods area. Seemed ok at first until she got further down and the lettuce was moldy. She brought it back for a refund and they looked at all the other salads, saw that they all had the same problem, and she actually put them back in the case for people to buy! Disgusting.

I understand that preparing great food at an airport often has challenges. However, what I had today had it’s challenges. I was in Terminal B awaiting my American Airlines flight home to Los Angeles. Got a table in the back at Alamo Alehouse & Gourmet Burger Bar. Table was very comfortable and I liked the fact that I was tucked away in the far back. So far wonderful. I ordered the broccoli and cheese soup along with homemade chips. Sounded like the perfect light meal prior to a flight. The soup arrived lukewarm in a container, not a bowl. It was a tiny portion, 3 ounces at best. Clearly this was a prefab canned concoction. The chips would have been okay had they not been peppered to death. The waitress and staff here are awesome. Texas hospitality shined through from the moment I arrived until I left. If it were just the food I would leave this joint 1 star. But the staff deserves at least 4 stars. Hence for ambience and great service I am okay with giving them 3 stars. I will eat here again when travelling through San Antonio airport.

Good airport restaurant. Beer was cold(bottle) and Kobe burger was cooked medium rare as it should be. They have shoestring sweet potato fries with course salt… they were very good.

I ordered a meatball burger and it was cold. The beer was fine, a bit pricey, but it’s the only game in the airport. I would recommend that you get food somewhere else before going there and maybe stopping in for a beer.

Pretty average for an airport restaurant — i.e., not good. Got a bacon cheesburger and fries. The burger was tasteless, and had a miniscule amount of bacon on it to boot. The fries were lackluster as well. A bit of a shame — the place looked promising.

As far as airport food goes this place is solid. I ordered the Alamo burger and it was good. The employees are friendly and helpful contrary to some negative reviews I read. Ya it’s not cheap and the quality isn’t the best, but what airport restaurant is? Needless to say, I will be coming back.

We had about 2 hours to kill at the San Antonio airport and were hungry; since choices are limited the Alamo Alehouse had some open bar stools so we warmed 2 of them. Both of us ordered burgers — Kobe and turkey. Yummy! Some of the best sweet potato fries I have had. The service was also good; ladies, though, it’s probably not a good idea to complain about the customers and the tips they either leave or don’t. Just a suggestion…

One of the greasiest meals I’ve ever had. I know what you’re thinking. I ordered a burger with onion rings… so I signed up for it. But seriously, this was the most glistening meal I’ve seen in a while. I had to line the bottom of my dish with napkins to soak up as much oil as possible. I know what else you’re thinking… sure I was at an airport in Texas, so what was I expecting? Also, nearly everything you’re given for your meal is disposed of afterwards.

My beer was cold and my food was great. For an airport, the price was comparable to most airport pricing. I paid 20 dollars for a veggie burger, a beer, and a few extras on the burger. The burger was hot, the bun was toasted, and the fries were nice and crispy. My only complaint is that the burger was maybe a little too salty. The service is not so great. There were 2 people working the entire FOH, and the place was full. Because they were shorthanded, my experience suffered. I waited far too long for a refill, never was offered a second beer, and had to ask three time for my check. At an airport, fast service is the name of the game. Add one or two more servers and these guys would be rolling! Definitely a solid choice in this airport. Especially since they have a veg option. I’ll return if I find myself killing time here in the future.

Kobe burger is just OK, it did not taste like the Kobe beef that I get at the place by my house, the burger joint that I KNOW is the real deal. Had it been advertised as just a burger, I would call it really good! Get where I’m going with that? I hope. Sam Adams seasonal beer is good, and cold. Service was solid, my server Tony was friendly and on his game. Considering this particular terminal has very few food choices, this place is not half bad. They also have a few televisions, so you can catch up on reality, or watch the sporting event of the day.

I ate here with my girlfriend for lunch today. We decided to eat here after we saw the lack of dining options in terminal B of the airport. The inside of the restaurant is tiny and cramped with lots of wood and earthy colors. For my entrée I decided to have the Turkey burger on a wheat bun with lettuce, pickle and BBQ sauce and a side of French fries. The burger tasted good and had a nice spice palette which I was not expecting. My only complaint with it would the dribble of BBQ sauce that they put on it. Give me more! The fries were also decent and loaded with salt and pepper. Some were good and crispy while others were just mushy. The bottom line for me is that I wouldn’t plan on heading back here in the future. However, if I am stuck in Terminal B again and hungry it may be my best option.

Got to the airport early and wanted to grab a bite for lunch. Saw the words«gourmet burger» which drew me in with images nice thick cut handmade burgers cooked to a perfect rare with delicious condiments. Here’s what the food really was like: Kobe beef burger: Cooked all the way though to an ugly grey, no pink or red at all. The patty was probably under½ inch in thickness, and really just looked like it was pre-made stuff you can buy from a grocery stuff that was frozen. Greasy, which is partially my own fault since while I’m on paleo, I can’t eat any grains(bread), but my hands were dripping with grease even as I wrapped the lettuce around the beef to chomp down. I added mushrooms for 79 cents, which ended up being about half of one whole mushroom sauteed. Also added grilled onions for 79 cents, which was probably1/6 of an onion sauteed. The lettuce and tomato did taste fresh. They have a standard selection of beers relative to any place that would call themselves a bar, with nothing out of the ordinary in bottles or on tap. Service was polite and fast. Verdict: For the $ 15+ dollars I paid + tip, I could’ve gotten a truly gourmet burger at a restaurant… unfortunately, I was led astray by my hunger and the terrible overuse of the word«gourmet» nowadays on everything. In the future, I’ll eat before coming to the airport to look fora meal I’ll actually enjoy for probably cheaper than what I paid here.
