We had dinner on a Saturday night. We walked right in without reservations. Our waiter was amazing! He recommended an excellent and affordable bottle of wine. We loved it so much we purchased 3 bottles to take home! We had the meatball appetizer, Cesar salads & the meatball pizza. Our waiter even took care of our dessert a very tasty Nutella brownie with ice cream. We will definitely be back.

Nothing to rave about except for our waiter. There was a private party going on inside. Did the chefs do what they could just to put food out on our table? Fish of the day — tiny halibut in the middle of the plate and 4 chunks of watermelon that seemed to have been watered down and too red for their own good. Not worth the $ 36. Pig and Pear Pizza — eh. I’d rather eat a cheese pizza from Pizza Hut. Not much on the pizza and a lot of crust left over. NYSTRIP with mashed potatoes– served cold– yes, even the steak. The only thing hot on that plate were 4 mini carrots. Kindly told the waiter and he came back and kindly told us they were«warming it up.» What?! Warming? Literally put it in the microwave and brought back out. Medium rare steak turned medium. If this were a legit steakhouse, this would not have happened. Pork chop — the only menu item I would recommend. Came out warm. Great size. Nice char on the outsider. Sides: –Mushroom risotto — was too thick –Truffle fries– no crunch. Soggy fries piled on top of each other.

20nine is okay. No bad, not great — I wouldn’t complain if someone wanted to go back but I probably wouldn’t suggest it. The interior is quite nice — dimly lit, with big maps of wine regions on the walls. We chose to sit at the bar and I found their bar stools extremely uncomfortable. As one might expect from a wine bar, there’s a good number of both bottle and glass options — most people should fine something they like. If you’re having a hard time, they specialize in flights aka«road trips». We didn’t order food so I can’t speak to that but I thought the wine prices were pretty high with most things over $ 13/glass. They are better wines to be sure — no Beringer White Zin here! Anyway, happy hour(til 6?) nets you 25% off glasses. I liked the sparkling that I picked. Service wasn’t super great or attentive which kind of sucked being that they weren’t half full and we were the only ones at the bar. Definitely a nice quiet place to catch up with friends or take a date but the prices and inattentive service will keep me away most likely.

If I had a bit more disposable income, I’d eat here more frequently than I do(mains tend to run around $ 16-$ 28+) because I’m consistently impressed by the quality of what comes out of their little kitchen. On its best days, their Signature Chicken, with its pepita crust and sun dried tomato buerre blanc, is pretty spectacular, and the pork chop, served atop champagne mustard and cherry demi, is awfully, awfully good, too(for the record, it is the one main that doesn’t include some sort of side). When accompanied by a salad(the wilted spinach and the mixed green are both memorable), both dishes are easily hearty enough to split. And although it’s one of the few things not made in house, you’d be wise to ask for the bread, which arrives tasting as if it were. If you’re so inclined, their desserts are inventive and delicious. And then there’s the wine, which I can’t speak to directly since I don’t drink, but the regular presence of San Antonio’s most famous basketball winos and my discriminating little brother suggests that there’s something special going on there. That’s why there’s almost always a friendly crowd of regulars at the bar, avidly watching Spurs games(sometimes long after closing) and enjoying the attentive and engaging service of Jeremy, a well-trained young sommelier who now runs the place.

Over priced, food marginal, wait staff unattentive. Waitress seemed more interested in the young man at the bar than us. Just wanted a glass of wine with a small appetizer. Never offered a by the glass menu. Flights and bottles was all that was offered. Will I go back. NO!

I don’t understand how this restaurant has nothing BUT5 stars. Wine bottles are reasonably priced. Scallop appetizer was AMAZING. Perfectly cooked and sauce was very tasty. New York Strip… Best I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection. Asked for medium rare and got medium rare. Get the risotto, you won’t regret it.

I was hesitant going there because the reviews were not good, but I’m glad I gave it a shot anyway. A coworker told me about how good the duck was there, so I went on a mission. I was disappointed when I found out they didn’t have duck on the menu. Instead, my fiancé and I shared a New York strip steak and meatballs. Both were amazing. The steak was the best I have had in a long time, if not the best I have had in San Antonio. The waiter was nice but not very efficient. The table next to us had a different waiter who was at their table constantly making sure they were doing okay, filling their drinks, etc. Our waiter was nowhere to be found most of the time and we waited a long time for the check to come. The hostess, on the other hand, was great! She was very sweet on the phone when I made the reservation and when we arrived. Overall I was pleased! The inattentive waiter was my only complaint and everything else made up for it. I will go again.

Truth be told, I had just come from an eye appointment with dilated pupils and was looking for a restaurant in the Quarry area that wasn’t too bright. I read on Unilocal that 20Nine was romantic and figured that might mean dark. Bingo! We got a table for three on a very dark part of the restaurant. We were seated by the kitchen. Normally I wouldn’t care, but imagine a door swinging open every few seconds and bright light streaming out into a very dark room. Hmm. Jarring. So much for the dark ambience. There was a vent shooting gusts of cold air directly on our table. Despite wearing long sleeves and jeans, I was freezing to the point of having to retrieve a jacket for the car. Brrr. Totally uncomfortable. We were not interested in the wine, which seemed to put us in a lower prioritization for service. The restaurant was apparently hosting a large party, which our server informed us would likely delay our appetizer delivery. He offered us bread(very tasty, btw). Weird for him to tell us to expect a delay. It’s not really the customer’s problem when the kitchen is falling behind. Struck me as unpolished. The appetizer actually came out seconds later, delivered by another waiter. I chalk this up to a failure to communicate. The bacon-wrapped date appetizer was yummy, btw. We placed our entrée order at the same time as the appetizer, so the wait wasn’t too bad for that. Just long enough to observe other diners. One couple seated even closer to the kitchen than we were got up and left. I overheard them tell the hostess they had waited too long with no service. Three other tables were filled with ladies who seemed to be enjoying themselves. There was plenty of wine flowing and the conversation/laughter was lively. The Not a Pot Pie had a delicious flaky pastry. My table mate said the oxtail was«beefy» but the portion was way too small. Another table mate ordered one of the pizzas. He said it was ok. The entrée prices were, well, pricey. Have no idea about the wines or dessert as we tried neither. Why 3 stars? The food was decent but the overall experience could use some work. Maybe I am not the target audience. The wait staff made that fairly clear. I don’t think I’ll be back.

Food was amazing! I am a very picky eater and I would definitely come back here. Got the Not Chicken Pot Pie. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. They also had a great selection of wine, I just wish there were more By The Glass wine choices. Will definitely be recommending to friends and going back. Our server was also very nice and knowledgable.

The customer service was spot on. We had two WONDERFUL people waiting on us. A more seasoned waiter who gave us detailed information about our choices of entrée. He was like the Mr Miyagi of hospitality, and Daniel son his trainee, she was just super Amazing. It was her first night, but she didn’t hesitate to make us happy. They both made us feel so welcomed. Not to mention everyone that passed by our table made sure we were happy and enjoying our dinner. The bar tender checked on us and so did the chef. Speaking of chef. OMG. where do I begin? The food was FREAKINGAMAZING. The brussel sprouts had a slight hint of honey and were grilled to perfection. The PEPITACRUSTEDCHICKENBREAST made my heart melt. My husband and I will definitely be going back. They also have a Groupon available for you first timers that are curious and would be so privileged to try this place out.

My husband and I went here for Valentine’s Day. It was our second visit and we were not disappointed. They had a preset menu for Valentine’s Day which included soup or salad, main course and dessert. I had the shrimp and risotto and my husband had the steak and both were delicious. The wine selection is incredible and out waiter Jeremy was well informed and attentive to anything we needed. The atmosphere is classy and romantic with great music in the background. It’s a perfect date night place but a group of friends would fit in as well.

It would have been a 4-star review except that something is amiss with the kitchen. It took 30 minutes to get our salads from the time we ordered. The manager noticed near the end of this time and comped us two glasses of wine. Sean did his best to provide us good service during our somewhat prolonged dinner service. I do like the flights of wine they call road trips. Gives you the opportunity to try multiple wines without committing to a full glass. Is there supposed to be bread with dinner. We had bread plates but no bread. And the techno music is really out of place. This is supposed to be named after Route 29 in Napa. I have spent a lot of time in Napa and Sonoma and NONE of the restaurants and wine bars pump in techno music. It really spoils the mood. The pork chop was really good, but the truffle fries were way too salty. There’s also something not quite right about the proximity of most of the dining tables to the kitchen. I don’t want to see dirty dishes being taken into the kitchen right next to where they are are making salads. The food is solid, but there is something wrong in the kitchen.

If Unilocal allowed half stars, I think I’d rate this place 3.5. I can’t really decide how I feel about it, to be honest. I think to sum it up I’d say: it’s a good place to try, but it’s overpriced and I probably won’t be back. We bought the Groupon to try it out, which was a good idea, but we ended up spending a lot more than the Groupon covered(and that was just our food!). This was probably due to our server being realllllyyyy great at suggesting items for us. We started with the wilted spinach salad. The waiter suggested we order it «split» with scallops. Hey, that sounds good, why not? The«split» was not really accurate, because we ended up with two salads at full charge on our bill, but we also each got an egg and a large scallop. My husband really enjoyed his salad, but I thought it was super oily. I usually ask for dressing on the side, but I forgot. I would definitely recommend doing that unless you like your salads swimming in oil. Minus the crazy use of oil, overall I thought the salad was pretty good. Add an egg on top of anything and I’m in. We also ordered the truffle fries which were pretty good. And for our main course we got the potato pesto pizza which was delicious. The potatoes could’ve used a bit more cook time, but besides that it was great. The waiter suggested an egg on top of the pizza, too, but one egg was enough for me.(I did add an egg on top the next day when I ate the leftovers though! I recommend.) So like I said at the beginning, this is a nice place to try out, but I probably won’t be coming back. Nothing was outstanding or ground-breaking.

A perfect romantic spot for you and your beau :) Located in the Quarry, it is in the middle of commercial stores but as soon as you walk in, you forget you are in San Antonio but an Italian wine cellar. The décor is soft and soothing. There are tables but for a more intimate feel is the tabletop. They have a good variety of vegetarian and meat loving options. The best part is that if you buy a bottle of wine, you can take it home(the best doggie bag ever). The staff overall was welcoming. They are knowledgeable in their wines. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind :)

29 Wine is also a wine distributor so, after a couple of «Road Trips» we chose to take a bottle home(50% of menu price). Loved the house cured salmon — layers of flavor in a small bite! The pig and pear pizza was a delightful sweet and savory meal to share. Service was excellent and all staff were friendly.

This place is a joke. Awful dining area, overly expensive plates with zero creativity and flavor(besides the excessive use of garlic), and the crowd? What crowd? Oh, you mean the old money at the bar who are the only customers getting any attention from the staff even though the place is virtually empty? In this growing culinary city of SATX, there are FAR too many exquisite restaurants suitable for your next date night or business meeting. Don’t bother with this outdated, desperate establishment.

Was a little hesitant to give it a shot but pleased I did. Really like Piatti when traveling staying by Quarry but this is a great alternative. Pork chop here murdered Piatti’s; wine a bit pricey but very good and off the road vineyards.

Something is ‘missing’ here … Can’t put my finger on it. By the name, we were expecting something a bit more sophisticated, especially in the Quarry. We prefer J Alexander’s service & selection. Flemings if you want to have fun and spend money! This is a great place if you’re having an affair or need a bite with no crowd. Service is too relaxed. They all just want to go home. They tried adding TVs but it was pointless since they’re too small. Enjoy your wine! ;)

I am impressed by this restaurant. If you’re looking for a small quiet retreat for you and a special someone I recommend this restaurant. It is dimly lit they have TVs and intimate seating. They have an option that is called ‘road trip’ you pick a road trip and the sever gives you three glasses of various wines for you to sample and I’m not talking sample size these are good size glasses filled with 3 different wines for you to try. Has far as the food I had the calamari and I thought it was good but not the best calamari I have ever had but it was good. Not a big fan of the food here but very impressed by the environment and the wine selection and service is remarkable.

Do not come here! Service is horrible! Not sure who these people think they are! Get the eff out of here with your snobby self and that’s why you get no tip!!! We’ll spend our money elsewhere! The waiters and bartenders just sit around. They don’t bother to ask how you are doing… nothing! I’ve never had such horrible service in my life! Unbelievably upsetting!
