Preface: One of the previous reviews by an Asian reviewer mentioning racism is totally counter to our experience. My wife and I are Asian and felt very welcomed by the waitress at this restaurant on our two visits. Perhaps the reviewer’s group failed to make a reservation and were put behind a party with a reservation. Or perhaps they were unlucky to encounter a grumpy waiter. Language and cultural differences can often make for misunderstandings. Review: After two weeks in Spain, we were ready for an alternative to tapas. We found this place for lunch and ate here two days in a row. The food is delicious, fresh, and imaginative with lots of choices for non-meat eating diners. Examples of dishes that we enjoyed include: Hummus with pita bread and purple salad, Green Winter Salad with celery, apples, and cranberries, Pasta with artichokes, arugula, and pine nuts, and Cus-cus with sauteed vegetables. The restaurant is located along the river, just past the Roman Bridge. The décor is bright, colorful, and tasteful. The young waitress was genuinely friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome. This was one of the best dining experiences in our 3 week trip to Spain. The only disappointment was that we were told they do not make their dishes for take out when we wanted to order one of their dishes to take back to the hotel with us. However, they will pack any leftovers from your meal for you to take home. Highly recommended, 5 stars.

Racism is probably prevalent here. My group(Asian) walked in and requested a table and was told they can only seat half our party. After we agreed and decided to split up, they started setting the table and another party came in and they were seated by this restaurant. We never felt so looked down upon so we decided to go to another restaurant. Las piconeras which was down the alley was really tasty and they were really accommodating as well. If you have a big party, I would avoid this place or if you are of different descent so as to avoid preferential treatment.

Food is really, really good. At first, I assumed that this was catered more towards the vegetarian market; however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have such flavourful and unusual(in the good way) non-veg options also. I ordered the asparagus, octopus with mango, and the pork with pineapple. All three were delectable, followed by dessert, a pear infused tiramisu. Local wine was top notch. Highly recommended for any North American foodies out there looking to try something different.

Really, really good salads and great service. The dessert list is also pretty inspired — it looks simple but it’s awesome. Try the«special fresh cake»! Their ingredients are sourced locally and organic, too. If you’re looking for something convenient but superior to the standard expensive tourist restaurants in the area, this is the place to go.

an excellent find in Cordoba, not a town known for vegetarian restaurants. when we walked in, late in the evening of course, it was busy with only one waiter. we didnt have a great feeling about this but our waiter was efficient and fast, and we had our food without much of a wait. especially pleasing was the fact that i could eat vegan and my boyfriend could have whatever meaty thing he wanted that night. the food was delicious, artfully composed, and generously served. extra cute is all the mis-matched chinaware, serving vessels and dining ware. all in all a lovely little place, down along the river front in amazing cordoba. thank you all at amaltea!

Wonderful experience at Amaltea! Really enjoyed the vegetarian options, which was a breath of fresh air from the usual tapas. Delicious hummus, outstanding arugula salad with gorgonzola, and the cous cous was tasty. Service was excellent, which made the dining experience that much better. Two very friendly female waitresses were very accommodating, especially providing a vegetarian menu in English. If you are vegetarian or vegan and traveling to Cordoba, be sure to check this place out!

Absolutely great restaurant for fusion food in Cardoba. Fantastic service. Small but cute place. Very clean and courteous. Food portion is small but sufficient. May be a bit pricey for the quantity served but 100% worth it. Everything is fusion including the music. Do not miss this place if you like fusion food.

Had dinner here about 10 days into a 2 week Spain vacation and variety was desired. Earlier posts as to originality are confirmed. Our party of 4 shared the duck foie(exquisite), hummus(plenty for four), tuna tartare, ox– tail carpaccio and veggie stir-fry…all delicious. Finished with a very tasty pear tiramisu. Service very good. For a break from the ordinary this is a place to try. Recommended and hope to visit again someday!

Superb dinner from start to finish. After 4 days in Spain, we were tired of the same menus… olives, cheese, cured meats. Almatea offers a different and creative menu. Don’t miss the delicate sea anemone, the tasty lamb tandoori, & the tuna tartare with a twist!

A lovely quiet restaurant within easy walking of the Mezquita(along the river). Great vegetarian options and lovely meats. We particularly enjoyed the house olives and wine — they stood out as among the best during our 2 week trip to Spain. The risotto with mushrooms was very good. Lovely service.

After a string of really sub standard tourist trap restaurants with horrible service this was a a breath of fresh air. The food was really good, and the service was pretty good. The prices were similar to other restaurants. My entire family enjoyed the meal and that includes my 11 year old daughter.

I’m only echoing what others have said — this is a great restaurant. It is pricier than most of my low budget preferences, but all four of us, with varying dietary needs, were so happy with our meals. My salad, while delicious, was overpriced. I had a few good looking options to choose from. This was a treat in a town where I thought a gluten-free vegan would suffer.

This was the best restaurant of our two week trip to Spain. We ate there both nights we were in Cordoba! A break from Spanish food– truly food that was well prepared and interesting. Somewhat of a Mediterranean influence. The salads were delicious– particularly the pear and gorgonzola and the eggplant. Pastas were excellent– lasagna and linguine with artichokes. Great chicken dishes, as well as seafood. This is a two women shop– one cook and one server. Server was most attentive and welcoming. Right on the river front– about a block from the Mesquita. Great location, lovely décor, and the food was just wonderful. Entrees were around 11 – 14 euros– we considered that quite fair given the quality of the food and its preparation.

On our trip to Spain from the US in November, we had a delicious evening meal at this lovely, peaceful restaurant in Cordoba, recommended in the Andalucia Rough Guide. The dishes were unique and flavorful and the ingredients were very fresh, with many vegetarian options. The wait staff was helpful and friendly and spoke English. We enjoyed it so much, that we returned the next day for lunch.

A mí me encantó. Lo recomiendo.
