Lot’s of China people around here. The Chinese love to eat chicken rice anyway. They were very generous with the meat and it’s about the cheapest you can get good quality chicken rice in the town area. The rice could have been more fragrant though and considering that I’m not the smallest guy around, it’s really a small helping. Nevertheless it was just fine for me — drizzled it with the dark soy sauce and delicious chilli. Oh, you can go next door for Tau huey/Douhua(Tofu/Soy bean pudding and drink) for desserts!

I had the steamed chicken rice set which included chicken, rice, sauteed greens with roasted garlic and a bowl of dumpling soup. I enjoyed it all with ample enhancement of chili sauce and fresh ginger. Everything was tasty and the price was reasonable at 6.50.

With all the chicken rice places in Singapore, this place is a pass. Mushy chicken and dry/bland rice. Around $ 4.5 for a plate and a barley drink.

One of Singapore’s best local chicken rices. Its open air, with plenty of tables. Each table has plentiful supply of ginger paste, chilli and dark sweet sauces. Has other things on menu such as claypots and thai-style tofu, which are competent and tasty. $ 3.50−4.50 for chicken rice.

Hainanese chicken rice. Is it Singapore’s contribution to the world of culinary specialities? or does it belong to Malaysia. Being Singaporean, I’m going to just say it’s ours. HAHA! There are hundreds, maybe thousands of chicken rice stalls in the country but there are only a few that I think prepare it the way I like. Sing Ho’s version of the famous Singaporean dish is very good. Don’t expect too much in terms of customer service here, it’s really just order, eat and go. I like their roast chicken more than the steamed chicken but with dark soy sauce, ginger and garlic chilli, this one is a winner. Often really packed with office drones during lunch time and it might be hard to get a seat if you are looking to dine in. If you’re looking to order it takeout, be sure to tell the hawker to leave out the cucumbers. Cucumbers spoil very quickly out in the open and might cause a bad tummy. You’ve been warned.
