Grab a plate or takeaway box and start scooping rice. You choose how much rice you want. That is a great concept as some people eat more and some prefer less rice. Pass your plate or box to the staff and tell them what dishes you want. If you are undecided, you can always order the set. I had the chicken wing set which is quite a decent price at $ 4. There are two types of chili(sweet or spicy) or you just get both if you still cannot make up your mind. The mutton rendang looks good, likewise the sayor lodeh. There are also other dishes available at night. Oxtail soup? Sop buntut I think? The iced bandung is perfect, not overly sweet and has the right mix of evaporated milk and rose syrup. They will also get your teh tarik kurang manis(less sweet) order right over here. Just remember to clear your table after you are done. There are signs everywhere to remind you to do that and everyone did it when we were there. It made dining here much more enjoyable.

Really solid Nasi Lemak at this place. Free flow rice, which was beautifully fragrant with Pandan and coconut. The all important sambal was also free flow, and you have a choice of spicy /fiery or a sweeter and milder variety. For curries and sides you have a range of «basic» dishes such as fried egg, omelette, ikan bilis, peanuts, fried chicken wings, chicken drumsticks, otak and nuggets, as well as «premium» dishes such as rendang, sotong(cuttlefish), prawns, long beans etc. I went with some basic stuff and a premium scoop of the sotong. I also tried some of my fiancée’s mutton rendang. Both sotong and rendang were really good, with just the right level of heat — enough for it to be a challenge, not enough for it to numb your tongue such that you can’t taste a thing. The sotong was probably just a hair too sweet though. All up it was about $ 9/person including a drink — pretty good value I think. I went back for another helping of rice! (Oh also the place is quite cosy, there’s a touch of hipster-ism to it. Murals on the wall, with graffiti encouraged on the tiles. Also — there’s parking round the back next to Rex Cinemas)
