The MBAs had the«Heart of Eurasia» week party here, probably because there weren’t enough Russians in the current cohort to justify a Russia week. It was $ 60 for«free flow» which ended up being a brand of vodka which no one had ever heard of, and it was only free flow from 10:30 to 1am. Weak. I am not sure what is supposed to be Russian about this place either.

I find myself here every other week drinking like a fish, but I never get a hangover the next day. I guess it’s true what they say about Russian Vodka being the best. The only things Russian about this bar are a couple of waitresses and Nemiroff Vodka. Throughout the week, the music here is a mix of Hip Hop, R&B, Old Skool & Top 40s hits, with the exception of themed events that usually happen on Fridays and/or Saturdays. Dj Krunk is the cute resident here and I usually catch him dropping beats on ladies night(Wednesdays) and on weekends. He does music like Russia does espionage. I’m beginning to like this cosy joint, mostly because I’m allergic to ‘sardine crowds’ and sweaty people rubbing against me. I also like how the place is lit by its luminescent tables, pillars and bar top. The only downside is they don’t have in-house restrooms so you’ll have to use the public ones outside.

I swung by Rasputin, a Russian bar in Clarke a couple of weeks ago. I wasn’t personally sure what was so Russian about it(maybe they have a lot of vodka?) but it seemed like a typical sizeable but not mega club in CQ to me. One good thing about Rasputin is that they always have some sort of free jugs offer for girls. That might be because they, being relatively new, are still working on drawing huge crowds in. But if you’ve been to Clarkey, you know that plenty of people want the nice club AND the free drinks, and you won’t get at that Zirca. So stick to the lesser-knowns. The music was really good and the crowd was amazingly fun, though I can’t say if this was just that night or if a culture has already begun to form. Either way, look out for free drink offers and head over. Because that’s what I did, which is also why I don’t know how much drinks cost. So yeah, just stick to the free stuff ;) Also, I found myself dancing with a monkey when I was there. The morning after I thought it was the alcohol trying to deceive me, but I found a picture that proves it all. There are occasionally dancing DJ-ing monkeys at Rasputin. Go tell all your friends.
