After aimlessly walking around Clarke Quay looking for a nice place to lounge around and wait for a friend, my guy friend and I settled on Marrakesh. This place was straight up dead. It was a Wednesday night. every other place was filled with people but this place only had us. Great for a nice chat with friends, but the atmosphere was just boring. I think the workers were bored, too. They were so attentive. It was kind of awkward, you know, hanging out with your buddies and having the workers listen in on your conversation since there’s nothing else to do. Hopefully this place is a bit more poppin on other nights, else I’d recommend going elsewhere.

I preferred having red wine and apple-mint shisha in this place while savoring the cozy ambience amd watching people enjoying the fountain area and passing by. I was a regular customer and was even given a discount per visit. However. just last week when I came back I was a bit disappointed because they don’t serve shisha any more. Been so hooked in this place for the hookah, I guess it’s about time to divert interest into something else or to another chillaxing haven.

Ok my friends & I decided to stop by this place for dinner. The atmosphere is great. We 1st waited for a long time to get the water & the drinks… I had ordered lime water, but never came. Loved the Harira soup. great soup with minced lamb… Ordered kebabs… And they spiced it up just great… Lots of hookahs to smoke but did not indulge. Most waiters & waitresses were giving the attention to them than us because we were alone on 1 side. So even if we walked out of there without paying, we would not have been noticed. Service was bad & tipped accordingly

It’s Clarke Quay, and thus a bit overpriced and geared toward expats… food wasn’t bad, sheesha okay, but for the real thing, skip Marrakesh and head to the Arab Quarter. So much more fun! And more authentic, too.

I generally dislike Clarke Quay because it’s riotous and I don’t like the general vibe of the place, but I have to say that Marrakesh is a bit of an oasis in the middle of all this activity. The interiors are beautiful, and they’ve done an amazing job in creating a Middle Eastern-inspired lounge. The food is alright, but definitely far from amazing. The falafel is good, as are the kebabs, but they aren’t necessarily memorable. Still, come here because the set-up is lovely, and you’ll still be guaranteed a great night out.

I passed by this place many a drunken nights and always promised myself I would come here to try the food, but it took at least a year before it happened, on a rare day that I was in Clarke Quay before the sun set. The food was good, I had falafel, a must try even if you’re not vegetarian, Harira Soup and a Fish Kebab. The soup was lovely; you could say it’s like a Moroccan version of minestrone, complete with spices. The fish was nice, juicy and tender and I was happy. Their frozen cocktails are the best — really refreshing especially after a heavily spiced meal. Most of all, I just love their décor; bright colours, plush furniture, carpets and pretty lamps.

The warm and cozy ambience is what attracted us to go in and have a try. Moroccan food is something I don’t have often so i thought why not. It was happy hour when we stepped in so we shared a grilled meat platter that was served piping hot. The char-grilled saffron marinated chicken skewers and minced lamb kebabs are very flavourful and tasty. I’ve gained a new favourite in the falafel that came along and was one of the best tasting items, without any meat in it.
