2 for 1 martinis and a great atmosphere, need I say more? I came here with some fellow Unilocalers and had a great night out. This bar, right off Orchard, is a rare find in a city where alcohol is typically overpriced and if you do find drinks which are reasonably priced more often than not it is either: a) hard to reach, b) a place which has less ambiance than my dentist and I dislike dentists or c) a combination of both Luckily, this bar is d) none of the above! They had a selection of different martinis but I am a lover of a classic gin martini, dirty. I did not try any other drinks as I enjoyed the first one so even when we had second(and third) rounds I decided not to risk my luck but the others seemed to enjoy their lychee and earl grey martinis. We also had a round of wings which were definitely one of the better versions of fried wings I had in Singapore — would certainly recommend them. Come to think to it, I am considering to give this bar 5 stars but since I am definitely going again, I’ll leave it at 4 now as my view might be biased by the great Unilocal company I was in. This is certainly a strong contender for an upgrade to a 5 star review after a revisit!

What a gem! As you walk in, you are instantly taken back in time where there are no cares in the world and everyone simply wants to enjoy the night. The place feels like it has stepped out of the prohibition era. Take a look at the bar top and counter top seats and you will find several nameplate of past regulars who you can imagine would have had many many stories of this fabulous little drinking establishment. I can picture raucous evenings filled with martinis and peanut shells flying in all directions — not just on the floor where you are free to throw them. I love the bar — bottles and bottles of spirits all lined up neatly under the red lanterns and if you climb the stairs, you get a wonderful view of the bartenders below preparing their glasses of liquor for all to enjoy. There is a pool table, outside seats and a lovely touch — free postcards of the bar which will be mailed for FREE if you post them in the box onsite. Now — what are we here for? martinis! 1 for 1 at $ 19SGD(that is buy one, get one free!) from 9pm — 1am. Choose from various flavours or have a classic gin or vodka straight-up. enjoy these drinks with unlimited monkey nuts that are delivered to your table. Try the shrimp paste chicken wings and if you dare have a shot of chilli infused vodka! I will be coming back time and again to this great spot on Orchard Road. See you there!

Date night? great night! My peanut-hating paramour was obviously hungry. As we waited to be served for food she took to snorting peanuts like it was elephant’s cocaine. Wings, No 5 Pizza and Simosa’s rolled out whilst we enjoyed 1-for-1 and each others eyes. She finished up with a malteser and was somewhat worried that it was a shot and not a gigantic cocktail. 2 Rusty nails and I was nestled in my cozy coffin. This place has datey charm — bring her/him here and woo their socks(and whatever else you can) off!

When my girlfriends decide this place for drinks, I thought we were gonna spend a bomb that night(judging from the location). As we were there slightly early for their 2 for $ 19 martinis(starts after 9pm to closing) and none of us had dinner, we ordered pizzas, prawn paste chicken and a basket of potato wedges. Their pizzas are pretty good, especially the four cheese. The crust is thin and crispy, the way I like it. Chicken batter was crispy and meat is juicy. Food price are pretty decent. If you’re not getting any food, there are shelled peanuts to go with your drink. Just like how local uncles do for their coffee shop drinking session. And to discard the shells, simply sweep them onto the floor. They even encourage you to do so. So litter away! :P

The happy hour here is stupid. How are HEAVY pours of Grey Goose, Bacardi, Meyers, Jose Cuervo, Maker’s, & Bombay only $ 6USD?($ 8SGD) It’s dangerous. Even worse, after 9pm, 2 for $ 19SGD martinis. This is how vacation gets you f***** up. I can’t. Then again, I can. #winningyetlosingatthesametime

I had a great time at this bar. It was a bit hard to find, being that I’m a little over a week old here in Singapore. Tucked away behind orchard road, the location was quaint and tucked away. Mixed crowd of locals and expats… overall attractive and pleasant crowd. I checked it out on my own and did not feel at all out of place. Service from bartenders was great, sitting at the bar was a good way to just start conversations with servers. Music was great… though could be a bit loud, but not so loud that you can’t carry a conversation with the person next to you. Cocktails were awesome. I had an old fashioned… cost me about $ 14SGD, which was amusingly cheaper than getting a beer ahaha. I will definitely be back to check out the food.

What a perfect little gem of a bar. Kind of a shanghai-dive-gone-stylish interior with a long well stocked bar. I struggled, at first, with knowing witch entrance to use as the no. 5 could also be the joint next door but that only made me ask directions(went to the wrong place first) and added to the charm. Music was good and drafts were nice, fresh and cool. Peanuts shells all over the floor. What is it the draw of that? Is it the childish joy of unlimited littering in the cleanest city in the world? A great place. I know where I’ll be when the wife wants me to go shopping with her in Orchard Road.

My fav bar in town with endless peanuts! Good for a Friday hangout cause you can simply throw the peanut shells on the floor(or throw at your friends ;D) to distress! 1for1 Martinis from 9pm-1am. They update the menu from time to time. Tried this new honeydew flavor which has no honeydew taste but whatever, cause there are peanuts! :) Oh a mention about the interior design — vintage Chinese style with a lanterns and Chinese signboards on the wall. but a popz place for foreigners to hangout. Oh, be early to get a table at tatami style area all the way inside on the ground floor. Pretty comfy, though not sure how clean it is.

The endless serving of peanuts and 1-for-1 Martinis daily from 9pm onwards, not forgetting the fantastic red lantern deco and great music… This is a great place to chill and hang out with friends over a drink or two. Dont be taken aback by the heaps of peanut shells on the floor cos that’s the way they roll there. Eat the nuts and dump the shells on the floor! Yea!

Great place, food, drinks and crowd. Nestled in emerald hill’s pre-war houses, this place is charming and lively! Gotta to try to chicken wings and people watch.

Interestingly, when my friends and I talk about no 5. It wasn’t about the drinks there, its always about the Har Cheong Gai(prawn paste chicken wing). They dish out possibly one of the best har cheong gai in Singapore. This is possible one of the few bars that dish out great eats. Other finger food they serve in this bar are great too! I like their fried wanton with chilli crab sauce and the pizzas too. But, with that said, we do love their lychee martinis too especially their daily after 9pm 1-for-1 martini deal. hehe… and if you are in a mood for some spicy shooter, a must try would be their inhouse concoction of the chili vodka.

No 5 Emerald Hill is a great place to go to for happy hour cocktails. They have an array of martinis, and during happy hour its one for one – which is a really great deal! The vibe of the place is pretty casual and it can be hard to get a seat, especially on weekend nights. There is free flow of peanuts and everyone just throws the peanut shells on the floor. It’s a cool place to have a chill night out, nothing too fancy and a little grungy.

I come here when I really need to unwind a little. At 5 Emerald Hill, the prices of the beer and all are reasonable, and there is one thing you can do without being judged: throwing peanuts/peanut shells around! The snack is free flow, and comes even before you order anything from the bar. It has a pretty vibrant environment; you can talk loudly, act stupid and throw peanuts at your friends without being stared at. I heard that the chicken wings are really nice too, though I didn’t manage to try it yet. There are two levels, which I think there’s more privacy at level 2. The staffs are friendly, and won’t give you the death stare if you ask for peanut refills. Overall a very chill and relaxed environment that lets you relieve your stress over beer, food and peanuts!
