I can pretty much say that the pasta here is the best I’ve ever had so far in Singapore! It wasn’t crowded at all when we came on a Saturday evening(6 pm). I personally like creamy based sauce and the waiter recommended me to get Penne Foie Grass — which I’m very glad I did order. Penne Foie Gras(S$ 32) — penne in rich foie gras white wine cream sauce topped with smoked duck. The cream was great — it wasn’t too thick, not too cheesy, not too salty. It was just a perfect example how creamy pasta sauce should be. However I’d say the portion for this dish is rather small. I say it’s small cos if I could finish the dish that means a guy typically would be hungry ordering only this dish. My hubby on the other hand ordered Rigatoni Sausage(S$ 32) — rigatoni with homemade Italian sausage, sauteed mushrooms and spinach, tossed in spicy tomato sauce. It’s a spicy tomato based sauce, so if you just want tomato based sauce you might need to make some special request with the chef. However this dish is def a worth try. This dish is very flavorful and unique. Portion wise, it’s 1.5 bigger than penne foie gras and definitely is more filling as it has much more meat in it(while penne foie gras only has few slices of smoked duck). Michaelangelo has both outdoor and indoor seating space. It has a really romantic ambiance(dim lighting, nicely decorated chairs and tables). They also have vast of alcohol drink choices. This place would make a perfect ladies night or date night with your significant other. Service wise it was excellent. The waiter/waitress was really attentive of our order. Last but not least, as an added point, this place offers free wifi for the customers.

We haven’t been to Michaelangelo’s since way back in college, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the face lift it had undergone. The restaurant’s clean lines and dark wood with white linen was elegant and understated, so we looked forward to trying a brand new menu as well. We had the capesante e gamberi — i.e. an-seared scallops topped with caviar served atop a bed of onion confit and garlic tiger prawns perched on a sundried tomato pesto and lemon butter. really delicious! I also had the quarantaotto: Michaelangelo’s signature entrée of braised U.S.D.A. boneless short ribs in sherry sauce which was tender but bit bland. We were too full for dessert but then there didn’t seem to be anything too interesting anyway so we skipped it. Overall decent place for a meal but nothing mindblowing.

Great location once again away form the buzz of the bar areas in Holland Village! Starter to try: The Beef Carpaccio Salad. Bittter rocket leaves paired with paper thin sliced raw beef with olive oil and balsamic dressing! The shaved cheese also balances this simple classic Italian dish. A light and fresh way to start the meal! Mains: The Squid Ink Seafood Pasta. Although almost a black mess in appearance, the taste is actually pleasant and pairs well with the medley of seafood. The star in the mix of the seafood would the crayfish which is placed proudly on top of the pasta. Savor it because you only get half a crayfish! Dessert: The Tiramisu has always been a winner and the portion is good too! Although the food is good, the location is even better hence making it a worth while place to visit for a quiet evening dinner!
