This is a well kept secret of Rochester Mall. When I cross the road from Star Vista after church, I wanted to visit this place some time ago. Finally got to visit this restaurant on a Sunday evening. Was attracted by how this place blends between the modern façade of Rochester Mall and a colonial style building at its backyard. The restaurant is a small quaint single storey building. You can choose to dine in the interior brick styled cottage, or at the outdoor alfresco area, much like the Starbucks next door. But I bet it’s much more beautiful sitting outdoor from 7pm onwards with candles on your tables. It has that peaceful quiet ambience in this place. In the inside, they play jazz music or Italian sopranos. It’s a perfect place for small family gatherings or a couple of friends gathering. Ok time to get on the food. If you visit this place as a couple, I strongly recommend trying Spaghetti Al Cartoccio(for 2 pax) for a start. It’s an assortment of seafood and spaghetti baked in parchment with tomato sauce and basil. It may look like a simple dish but the pasta and seafood inside the parchment just brings out the flavor in a much more natural enhancing way than any MSG could. The sauce is superb and very much on par as Pasta Brava, but with a more homely touch. Portion is good for two. It’s good for gatherings too as you add on more dishes. The Zuppa Alla Marinara is also a good dish to try out! A thick tomato sauce or white wine sauce with seafood. Yummy! Tagliere Mix, Saumi or Formaggi with the cheese that’s specially imported from Italy. The pizzas here I heard are a favorite. The kids will love it. If you’re looking for anothe romantic dinner or weekend family dinner that is peaceful, close to the nature and Italian food as authentic as it could be, you shouldn’t hesitate to give this place a shot. This has to be one of my top 3 Italian restaurants in Singapore.(I only try those with a realistic price.) *wink*
