I realize that I kinda«cheated» on my review for this Cold Storage, as I initially did a review haiku. After living here for over a year, I figured I owe the one place that I have a legit dukedom in(39 checkins as of the 12th of January) an actual review. At first, I really liked this Cold Storage. I don’t cook as much as I should, but when I do, it’s normally western cuisine. The Fairprice in nearby Square 2 has the best prices overall, but they don’t have the cheese, fresh herbs, and wine selection that I’m looking for. I feel they cater more towards the local market, whereas Cold Storage caters more to the expats. Although I find most of the things I need here, I still don’t understand how they organize certain items. Sometimes it takes me forever to find things like sesame seeds(I’m used to finding it in the dried herbs and spices section, but found it in a completely different aisle) and ginger root(it’s in the refrigerated section, I’m used to it being unrefrigerated and near the onions.) Guess that’s more of a cultural difference, so I won’t hold it completely against them. Where I really deduct stars is their seafood section. They have a decent selection, but every time I visit they are understaffed and it takes forever to get things packaged and priced. One time I visited and they simply said that there was no one to handle seafood that day so I was out of luck. So much for customer service and making sales! However, their sushi is pretty good and I do buy it every so often. I now prefer the Fairprice Finest in Zhongshan Park, especially because they have a butcher. But because it’s a lot further from my place, I’m fine with patronizing this Cold Storage for now. At least the cashiers here are really nice, which helps a lot when there are long queues(and that’s more often than not.)
