alright-to-decent fish at this chain. I’ll be honest: I come here only for their swordfish collar. the chain suffers from inconsistency — food standards can be well below average depending on the outlet you visit, and service is slightly haphazard. but I think of the swordfish, drool a little, and ignore it all. my parents like the garlic lemon butter mussels — the sauce is good for dipping, it comes with soft bread that works well together. they have a new special menu for sides like prawn fritters to accompany your main course. this is quite a good idea — especially for variety. my sister ordered the giant stuffed squid, essentially a rather monstrous-looking fried ball of cephalopod stuffed with orange cheese. a little rubbery, but worth the experience. plus, how do you resist ordering something that labels itself as giant squid? we certainly don’t have such forbearance. the swordfish collar is always delish. hulking bits of fish fried up to a crisp and served with a mango salsa, these is moist, firm white fish — a little messier than cutting into a fillet, but well worth it. the other mains are pretty decent — they’ve also just expanded their menu and the sis tells me standards are a little better(I wouldn’t know because I only ever have the swordfish). it’s not posh dining at all — most things on the menu are essentially iterations of fried fish with sauce, and rather crude renditions at that. but it’s a good meal for mid-week, nothing too strenuous and rather flavorful. plus, fish is good for you!

This outlet of Fish and Co. has discount for staff working in my company and because it is halal certified, we always find ourselves coming here for birthdays and farewell parties. As seating is limited, it is imperative to make reservations in advance, especially for big groups. The service here is so-so. There is always one or two very helpful and friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel comfortable but the rest of the staff are either blur or unhelpful — meaning that they cannot seem to get your orders right or they don’t serve you the condiments or other extra stuff that you asked for multiple times. There are a few waiters/waitress who will not serve you the mints at the end of the meal unless you ask for it. Food can be slow and the kitchen seems to be susceptible to confuse one’s orders. I have seen a couple waiting for 40minutes without their food arriving. They stormed off after that. Food quality wise, nothing to shout about.
