Certainly not the largest store, but everyone loves a local spot. There are some pretty tasty twists too, so you get to try new things that are custom made! I love the sea salt malt, which is a great alternative to the salted caramel that everyone and their mother is offering now. I’ve also made a convert out of a friend, who now makes her bi-weekly pilgrimage here to pick up a pint of lychee lime — don’t knock it till you’ve tried it! Oh and the late closing hours mean its always a popular choice after dinner or even an early supper… Yes, I’m greedy that way.

A small shop space at Simpang Bedok, Blic Ice Cream Café manages to squeeze a couple of tables and chairs into its brightly lit café for customers who wish to dine in. The shop reeks of durian though, and it is pretty overwhelming upon entering. But it should not be a problem for the durian lovers out there. Blic offers a wide selection of flavors — namely Rum & Raisin, Passion Yoghurt, Chunky Peanutella, Baileys, Seasalt Malt, Black Sesame, Green Tea, Double Chocolate, Ferrero, Vanilla Bean, Lychee Mint, Coffee, Cempedak, and Mao Shan Wang Durian. Prices are reasonable at $ 3.20 for a single scoop and $ 4.80 for a double scoop. My personal favorites are Seasalt Malt, which tastes like Horlicks with a tinge of salt, and their special flavor SCaM, which comprises of Soursop, Calamansi and Martini. For those who crave a kick of alcohol, Blic offers Kahlua Cookie and a Tiramisu dessert. They also release new flavors every fortnight, so make sure to drop by often to catch their unique and original flavors!

Being the only ice cream shop in Simpang bedok, its great if you;re having lunch nearby and need a quick ice cream fix. I was there with my gf and we had a couple of flavours. The chocolate and kahlua. They were pretty good in my opinion. I especially liked the Kahlua one because there wasnt the strong alcohol taste and it was more or less great kahlua flavour. The only gripe I have is that its a bit on the pricey side. 5 bucks for a scoop really doesnt sit well with my wallet.

Yet another ice cream place, but here they’ve served the tanah merah people well. Not much offerings unless you head up to siglap, this friendly neighbourhood ice cream café does satisfy cravings. A few flavours that stand out for me: Sea Salt Malt & Passion Yoghurt. Horlicks flavour has been a perennial favourite, but sea salt chocoloate/caramel too. I always feel that caramel has too strong a flavour, even the touch of salt does not cut it back. However, malt, associated with horlicks for me, has always have a slightly savoury flavour, which works pretty well with sea salt. It is wicked, in fact. Passion Yogurt was a chance meeting, since it is refeshing yet possibly creamy enough compared to flavours like lychee lime and mango. The nice balance of the tartness in passion fruit, with a sweet creamy plain yogurt makes it a nice sinless indulgence. Try having both together, they went surprisingly well after a bowl of meepok.
