Ajisen is a pretty standard chain of ramen in Singapore. The broth flavors are great, regardless of the choice in dish. It is a bit pricey at $ 10 – 20 for a bowl of ramen and makes you feel like you should be making this at home. They are stingy with the meat, giving only two slices of pork per plate. However, it is nonetheless quite tasty.

Ajisen Ramen is one of those eateries that offers better value during lunch so I’m almost never there for dinner. Their lunch specials end at 4pm and offer a choice of ramen with an appetizer and a drink. There are different price categories depending on which ramen and appetizer you choose. For me, my preference is the beef ramen and for the appetizer, I’m usually stuck between fried cuttlefish or soft shell crab. Whichever choice you make, I think it offers great value for a set meal costing less than $ 18. Ramen lovers might argue that the ramen at Ajisen is hardly the best you can find in Singapore and while true, the food at Ajisen Ramen is good enough for me and consistently good at that. I like the tasty soup that is full of flavour without being too salty, as well as the springy ramen cooked al dente and the beef cubes slow cooked till they almost melt as you bite into them. The Ajisen Ramen at Clementi Mall gets busy between the hours of noon to 2pm so avoid the crowds if you can and have an early or late lunch to enjoy the set meal.
