Went to the one near Hong Lim park. The beers are cheap but the service is equally crap. Don’t bother having them remember your order. Not only did the waitress get the wrong order, she insisted that she wasn’t wrong. As it was just one beer I let it pass — I told her to take it away as i dont drink that type of beer. Then, I asked her the price of the beer that i wanted. She told me a round figure. The second beer came when I looked at the receipt it wasn’t right. Called her again, she said it doesn’t include ++. Lol, is that how u sell your beers to hoodwink your customers ?? Definitely think twice of coming here again. Rather pay more for a better experience elsewhere.

It’s a decent affordable happy hour place. $ 5 drinks is about the only reason to hit the place up, and it’s reason enough.

This was one of my go to places for happy hour after work. The beer was relatively cheap, and good place to go with a small group of people. The burgers were also really good, and something fast to grab after work. Most of the people there were young business professionals, and gets pretty crowded once people get off work.

A long list of $ 5 drinks, including wine/beer/hard liquor. That’s all I need to say. Right? Well, service isn’t the best since it often takes a long while to get employees’ attention. But we’ll put up with that anyway. Cheapskates of the world unite.

It’s a place to be at if you wanna do networking with the young business crowd at CBD area. Mostly communication professionals(as my PR professional friend has found out), it’s an easy place to share cheap drinks, shake a few hands, butterfly from one table to the next. Local celebrities and corporate big names have been spotted here, try to stay sober and keep a sharp eye to suss out the who’s who within the shadows of people. If you care about getting the munchies — I’d recommend the wedges. They’re easy to hold and eat, and you can swallow them quickly if someone decides to start a conversation with you.

The bar is packed at 6pm on normal working days with people in formal wear. You would think whether they need to work or their company is so good to release them earlier. I don’t know the answer till now. What attract customers to this bar is the cheap house draft beer, the good location situated near MRT at CBD area. It is a 2 storey bar and occupied a large area but it is still packed. Another unique thing is that the bar adopted a Japanese bar concept of stand and drink so basically there isn’t any chairs around the tables and people are seen standing around, mixing around.

Cheapest beers and best chicken karaage in the city? Five Izakaya is where you want to be. This quirky izakaya is situated in the building between Tung Centre and Chevron House, at the bottom of a pair of escalators. The bar owns both the first and second floors, but the second floor has been roped off for as long as I’ve frequented this joint. Apparently the second floor used to be a VIP area but who knows. An acoustic duo plays folksy pop songs in the evenings on the«stage» between the two floors and after their sets, they slide down the short fireman’s pole to join everyone else on the ground. Most people go to Five because of the cheap drinks period. It’s $ 5 for house pours, Asahi beer and other Japanese house spirits. You can also get pretty cheap beer buckets or a Hoegarden tower if you’ve had a good day on the desk. Bar snacks are all Japanese and Five does a pretty mean chicken karaage and potato wedges. I’ve found the other dishes — chicken wings, oyako don, croquette — to be mediocre at best. But then again, you don’t really go to a bar for gourmet food. Five gets packed really quick after work as bankers and other office folk from the surrounding buildings get their after work beer fix. Table bookings at peak periods are hard to come by unless you’re familiar with the bar manager. It always feels like there’s not enough tables and the servers disappear when you need them. I’ve found that the servers here border on terrible and a bit rude, but I guess you get what you pay for.
