This is a place not for everyone. If your the kinda enjoy high end luxury surrounding with exquiste sofa setting with sexy chicks attending to your bottle service, naaah this aint the place. Me and my boys have been to butter factory for quite a bit now mainly just to dance, Bump and artbar has one of a fairly good amount of space to actually groove to the beat but at times it gets pretty crowded as this club crowd age range attracts more to the younger generation. If your a smoker like me you will enjoy the spacious room unlike other clubs where it is smaller then a studio flat living room. This club plays one of the updated music to this day, in fact their resident DJ are the AOS group DJ Andrew T, DJ Tang etc. who are fairly well known. Unfortunately this place will be closing soon next year. You should check this place out if your trendy hipster who dont mind getting a sweaty on the dance floor!

This is more of a 3.5. I don’t go clubbing often here because I’m a married auntie, but whenever I do get a chance to let my hair down I guess I tend to go a little overboard. :) My friends were able to secure a table so a whole bunch of us were able to roll through the VIP line without any issues. Before we entered the club, they had this videobooth thing set up, where they give you some sort of prop(this time it was Hawaiian leis) record you dancing around or doing something stupid*, and then they show you the finished clip in slow motion. I’m assuming they upload this somewhere on the Internet for the entire world to see, but I have no idea where since I didn’t get a card on where to check it out. At midnight, the room we were in was pretty dead; I don’t think people started coming in ’til around 1. Typical club experience; the music sucked until the room was filled. I will not trash the DJs too much though, as they actually played updated music in the end(Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda) so plus one star for that! There’s also a little podium in the centre of the dance floor where it seems anyone can just go up there to show off. After a couple of vodka shots, I’m pretty sure a drag queen in a fat suit made it up there at one point. What I didn’t like was that although our table was on a platform next to the DJ, the platform wasn’t roped off so anyone could just walk on the platform to get on the other side of the club even if they didn’t have a table. We approached management about this but they maintained their stance to leave the area open. Minus one star for that. Overall, this place is a fun night if you have a good group of friends, have a table, and not expect too much! – *I may or may not have twerked.

Set just beside the Marina Bay area, you can see MBS opposite from inside the factory. The interiors has an interesting feel. The music is not bad and has its own style and mix. There’s some random DJ talking and halting the music once in a while. Service is okay and drinks are served in reasonable time as we have a table of our own. We went in as a group of around and thus they allowed us free entry. Toilets though were horrendous. Male toilets queue were long and the sink is stuck. Very dirty… That’s the biggest drawback of the place.

Great view, great location, ok music, ok service. I went into too deep of a blackout to remember anything else. Oh, I remembered there’s a McD nearby if you ever need hangover-cure breakfast

Second time there(not much of a clubbing person) 1. Deco — Interesting, I saw stuff animals butts being mounted onto the wall instead of their heads. — There was a bed mounted onto the wall too. 2. The place gets crowded pass 12 — Definitely recommend coming before then. — Our friend booked a table so we didn’t have to queue. We entered about 11pm and enjoyed 1 – 2 hours of breathable air and not knocking into sweaty people. haha… 3. Managed to get drinks pretty fast(no complains) 4. Great location(facing the Marina Bay) — You can see the MBS skyline of Singapore. — Also conveniently located near some restaurants and 1 fullerton. so easy to hop over after dinner. — Parking at 1 fullerton is $ 5 per entry(after 6pm). I would suggest driving or taking a cab.

Butter Factory used to be THE place to party. However, they have failed to maintain their previously strong position in the market and have been losing many customers to the multitudes of new clubs popping up all over Singapore. Service here has gotten progressively worse, and the queue outside sometimes looks like its just too much of a hassle to try to get it. The staff at the door are not attentive, much less friendly, and take their own sweet time letting people through. Sometimes they just stand around chatting to their friends or other staff. And I get in though the guest lists as well. I can’t imagine if I had to queue in the usual queue. Trying to order a drink from the bar on a busy night is like trying to squeeze water from a stone. Not only is the service slow and sloppy, there isn’t a good system of queuing, so people just come and shove up against you or past you to get to the bar. Unless you have a table or friends who work there, it’s just not worth the effort. Lastly, my pet peeve about this place are the toilets. There are so few toilets for men and women that there is a perpetual queue snaking outside the bathrooms. They are usually in a horrible state by midnight. Anyway, I went to butter factory again recently for the relaunch of the Bump room. I have to say that the interior is looking really nice, with unique custom made items from White Antler and other designers. I especially liked the skulls hanging everywhere, and the lovely chandelier made of brass utensils. But I didn’t like the things in the VIP area from carte blanche, they were quite kitsch. It wasn’t too crowded at the launch, so it was pretty bearable. Service was still slow, and bathrooms were still packed and dirty, but at least I had a great time with my friends. Hopefully this revamp marks a change for the better in butter!

What sets Butter Factory apart is that the crowd it attracts is generally older and more ready to party. It can get pretty crowded on weekends so if you’re on the VIP list, you won’t really have to squeeze with the rest of the clubbers. The bartenders are generally friendly and will prevent queue cutting and the drinks come fairly quickly. The only thing that really pisses me off is that they sell Viceroy cigarettes and not the more premium cigarettes like Marlboro or Dunhill. This is seriously bad brand association, if you think about it…

I’m typically not a fan of big clubs, but if I had to choose one, it would be Butter Factory. Besides the fact that the décor and artwork kinda blows me away, there’s also a lot of electro and occasionally indie tunes in Fash, and I think it toes the line between underground and mainstream particularly well. The drinks are(like in most clubs) expensive though, and my friends and I usually BYO and sit outside by the river, get sufficiently sloshed and not buy any drinks from the bar unless it’s some free flow promotion or an event with drink coupons I’ve acquired. What I really liked the last time I was there was the huge sign in the smoking room. In contrast to other campaigns about safety which tend to warn women not to get taken advantage of or put themselves in dangerous situations, Butter rightfully acknowledges that the fault lies with the molestor and has, as a result, erected large signs that say See No Touch, Molest Is A Crime. Which is just as refreshing as the rest of this awesome club! :) See photo!

I think it’s safe to say that Butter Factory has experienced better days. Once one of the better places to party in Singapore, Butter Factory has now seen its fame being eclipsed by newer clubs like Mink and Filter. Which does not explain the long snaking queues that never fail to form outside the club come 11pm on a Saturday night. Butter is split into 2 rooms — Bump and Fash, with the former spinning the ever popular R&B, while the latter plays electro. Bump is ridiculously crowded — and its name is probably well-deserved. The dance floor gets so packed that it is impossible to enjoy yourself, unless you like dancing butt to butt with a random stranger. Fash has a lot more space to dance with, though the crowd often seems to be waiting, and waiting, for something to happen before getting down on the dance floor. I’d say give Butter a miss unless you’ve a really good friend who is celebrating his birthday there.

I like Butter Factory for their trendy and fashionable designs on the walls of their two areas Bump(R&B + KPop fans unite!) and Fash(trance + electro). Music wise, Bump is one of the most popular R&B place to go to in Singapore other than Phuture at Zouk. One reason why I didn’t give Butter Factory a higher rating is because of the crowd control. If I am not on the guestlist, queuing up and trying to get in takes forever. And also, the club gets insanely packed to the point where dancing is hard without hitting someone else in the face. And those times I went down to Butter, the service staff were rude and unhelpful. and those times when I bought a drink from them, the place wasn’t even packed yet! So I don’t get why they have to be so rude. This happened more than once and it’s always quite vexing. Other than that, I do give Butter Factory credit for their parties and their constant revamping of their rooms. If only they can revamp the attitudes of their service staff…
