I always stop here when I’m in the neighborhood. Great drip coffee, the food is pretty alright. The staff has always been great.

I have been going here for years and never thought to comment on it. It’s on my way into work so I always stop by if there’s parking at 8am. Nice, little quaint place with decent coffee.(Why is it hard to find a good cup today?) anyways, their desserts are good too and staff are friendly. Definitely a nice café to check out if you are in the neighbourhood.

Cute little coffee shop with a relaxed lazy atmosphere. Great house coffee, I didn’t try a bar drink. The pastries were so good, highly recommend the lemon loaf! Board games for anyone to use, friendly staff.

I really wanted to like this place ’cause from the outside it looked really cool with character. A spot that had a chance to be something. I went in and had their rice crispy treat ’cause it looked cool. It was dyed dark green with cupcake sprinkles on it. The cripsy treat was soggy and there was so much food coloring that after only 1 bite my tongue was green and my flem was green(a different kind of green). I took my treat to go, however, the paper bag was clear with grease? I know that there is butter in crispy treats, however, it shouldn’t turn a paper bag clear. I picked up 3 day old gluten free muffins for work. They were individually wrapped, therefore, it baffled me that the bag from the muffins were clear. It was so greasy that the oil leaked through the suran wrap and onto the bag. best prices for lattes and hot drinks in the city, however, not sure after my clear bag adventure if it was worth it. The customer service was really really friendly. This earned them an extra star.

This is a neighborhood coffee spot. Cozy vibe with it’s warped wood floors. Comfy space to sit & chat since the expansion. Big windows to watch the day go by. Drip coffee and Americanos are strong and tasty. My husband loves their mochas. My fave muffin is the Morning Glory. Really nice people working the counter. Sincerely friendly unlike the new place in ‘Town’. Thanks for being awesome. I’ll never cheat on you again :)

WARNING: THISBUSINESSISNOTGLUTEN-INTOLERANTFRIENDLY. They use pasta as stir sticks – and when I pointed this out, refused to remove them or label them, telling me «people can see what they are and use a spoon instead.» The server’s attitude was confrontational and didn’t seem to care she was risking people’s health.

I’m new to the area, and visited this coffee shop for the first time yesterday. The gentleman that was working was very nice. But, when I went back today, I had an experience with the female employee(the owner possibly) that will keep me from ever setting foot in there again. I walked into the coffee shop and sat down to make a phone call before I ordered my coffee. The lady came over mid-phone call and told me I need to order something because this is a business. I told her I would be ordering coffee in a minute, I just had to finish up my phone call. Now, I am a business individual, I was wearing business attire and in no way was appearing to be «squatting» like a homeless person. But 20 minutes into my phone call she came back and demanded that I order something or get out. I ordered something alright! I walked down the street to The Roasted Bean and had an amazing cup of coffee, a friendly chat with the owner and sat down for 30 minutes to finish up my phone call. Now, like I said I will never set foot in here again. But, I am going to plaster this review all over the net and tell all my friends in the area until the owner issues me a full apology. Very unacceptable customer service. PS Go to The Roasted Bean!!! The owner and her husband are always friendly, chatty and the coffee is a better quality bean.

Gorgeous little place — wooden floors, extra room full of chairs, a tiny library to browse through. But one of the most bitter lattes I’ve had in a long time! Obviously this comes down to personal preference, but it was too bitter for me(complaining about the weather, saying I looked scruffy, etc) ;) I had to add a load of honey, which is never a good sign. Maybe they were old beans. The rainbow cookie was certainly nice, and cheap! I really want to like this place, so I will return at some point.

Hey there Cedar Cottage, you are really growing up! I see you’ve broken out a wall and taken over next door, good on you! I really like the new room, it has a great feel to it and I can just picture it in winter, all cozy-like. Bright windows and nice old wooden floor. I’m loving the Moja coffee beans dressing up your shelves(and my cup.) I’m happy to hear you have non gluten yummies,(although, sadly you had none for my visit today) I’ll keep this in mind for next time. The regular treats look fantastic and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for Vancouver. Definitely an improvement around there, and yes, I noticed the nice new wood tables outside too. We also appreciated the awning shade on this hot sunny day.

Cedar Cottage has become my local coffee shop by default. After the closure of another little place I decided to keep my business local and headed over to the Cedar Cottage for my morning coffee and paper read. This place is cute. The people working were preparing the fresh baked goods, sandwiches etc for the day. They had a great selection of goods for breakfast, but I couldn’t see anything gluten free so I opted just for a coffee. They’ve got lovely outdoor seating in the summer and a great bar at the window to sit at and people watch along Kingsway. The atmosphere inside isn’t great. It felt like they were very much going for the cottegy look but it just felt bare and empty. But I wont hold it against them. All in all the service is good, the coffee is great and if you can eat bread and dairy the baked goods look divine!

I’m not a big coffee guy, so I can’t speak to their brews, but the lattes are decent. Baked goods are solid — the carrot cake is a big hit in our house. Now, if they could only finish the renovation…

Cedar Cottage has no coffee houses around here and I must admit this was a nice discovery! very nice and cozy, pretty place, lots of choices of drinks and food. the girl at the counter seemed pretty annoyed, but on a Sunday afternoon I can understand her. I had a latte and it was pretty good. I’ll be back for sure and I’ll try some other stuff on their list.

This is one of my favorite cafes in the area. After my 2nd time going Molly(I think that’s her name, the nice french lady who works there, or maybe she runs the place?) remembered my order and the next time I came she didn’t even have to ask and had it ready by the time I reached the front counter. The café itself has tons of character with old wood plank floors, open work area for the baker, and the atmosphere is perfect in my books. It definitely has an identity and I hope they don’t change it.

This place is my local morning-afternoon-weekend go-to place for awesome coffee, food and people. I think it was picked up by new owners over the last year or so and I have to say that the atmosphere has been noticeably more pleasant and welcoming since the switch. All of the staff there are friendly and yes, the French speaking owners and their handmade French pastry treats are the icing on the cake for this place. You must come by –at least once — for a coffee and say ‘bonjour’ to the friendly people here. I heart you Cedar Cottage Coffee House.

The food is absolutely fantastic. Everything is made from scratch right in the back. The breakfast bagel is awesome and the chocolate banana muffin is the best muffin Iv’e ever had. Highly recommended.

The ceramic, large coffee cups sealed the deal for me. I’m hooked on caffeine and caffeine has hooked me up with this sweet lil place, with sweet workers speaking French and chatting with the regulars. I sat in a trance watching a cook put the finishing touches on a batch of just about to be baked treats. Oh happy day, thanks for letting me linger on your wi-fi!

So I’m sitting at the long bar along the windows at Cedar Cottage and am struck with nostalgia. 60’s-esque indie folk is playing and behind the counter is a middle-aged woman speaking French to her cook in the back room. The French has just pushed me over the edge. In a good way. She’s taking orders, and her strong accent makes me feel like I’m in some European café. People are buying organic baguettes left and right and I… well, all of a sudden the baked goods here look 100% more appetizing. It’s all in the French. Staying true to my new cleanse I ordered a smoothie and was pleased when they grabbed a ziplock of frozen berries out of the freezer. Mmm. No syrupy crap. I’m happy about that. It tasted great. I also ordered two gluten free cookies(the only GF items on the menu) and they were well… healthy tasting. The French accent makes this place seem so legit. Does this mean I’m a racist? A Frenchist? Gosh.

This is a quaint and cosy café with a small fireplace, a few tables and chairs, and a bench that looks out towards Kingsway. It’s not large, which adds to its homey feel, and on offer are cakes and treats such as a vegan chocolate slice, carrot cake, muffins, banana and strawberry scones, brown sugar cookies, foccacia sandwiches, and croissants. The coffee here is nice, not too bitter which I like, and the service is super friendly. Two girls chatted merrily to me as I told them I was trying to give up sugar for a month, an effort that didn’t last long as I succumbed to one of their little sugar biscuits: yum! This is a nice little café but not a place I’d drive out of my way to get to. I only stopped in because it was on my way and I was hungry. But if it were in my neighbourhood I would definitely come back again.

When I know I have hours of work to do on the computer, I like to drag my laptop here to camp out. There’s a number of outlets, and so far I’ve always been able to secure one. There’s cozy couches to sit on, and outside seating. The iced latte I get, is a little bitter. Sometimes I like that– it keeps me from guzzling it down in less than 3 minutes(which in turn saves me from a possible coffee stomachache). To go with the latte, I always seem to get one of their cookies. I like the atmosphere– and this neighborhood. A little bit off the radar, at least in comparison to the Drive and downtown.
