I have recently moved into the area and great to find this little gem! The staff are always very friendly and the prices are fairly reasonable considering its an independent store. Am yet to try the pub an coffee shop attached but I have heard good things

Their selection will be getting better after their construction is complete, but currently most of this store is stocked with bottom shelf boozes at bourgeois prices. They even both stock and gouge a teenage favourite, Growers, to $ 12 (retails at $ 8 I think?) without bothering to refrigerate it. I cringed seeing cheap draft beer at the same price point as micro brew elsewhere.
The CCNLS is the 711 of liquor stores, convenient at a cost but no other service. If you’re not leaving the neighbourhood but really need beer now, you might be stuck with this. Otherwise try the much larger and better priced Elderado liquor store 5 blocks away at Nanaimo and Kingsway.
Ranting aside, Cedar Cottage has very pleasant staff who have an interest in micro brews and carry dog treats.
