I used to really love this pub. I have lived by this pub for a few years now and was a regular there with some friends. We frequently went there for drinks/dinner and really enjoyed the convenience of this place. The other night we stopped in there for dinner and both ordered a veggie stir fry(which has been delicious in the past!). I had asked to change one thing in it, if it worked out. The waitress said it would be fine. After waiting over an hour, finally they were brought out. Sadly they were nothing more than what seemed to be a whole red onion chopped up on a bed of chow mien noodles, with a small amount of green pepper, not any other vegetables. Between our two stirfrys we picked out an entire plate of chopped red onion — all that was left was noodles. When we told the waitress how bad they were she shrugged it off and walked away. When she came back with the bills, we saw we were charged full price for the food we couldn’t eat. I nicely brought it up again to her. She then began to list a long list of excuses, including the broccoli being too expensive right now, their cook being sick, that we had made a «custom» order, and that they have a new cook who was«learning». She was extremely condescending. When we explained we didn’t feel we should pay, she did remove the cost from our bill and then told us she wasn’t going to tell the cook and was going to throw away the void because it would make it him feel bad. When I asked to see a manager she rolled her eyes and then said they don’t have a manager. After all this she changed me for a drink I didn’t order. When brought up she didn’t offer to reimburse me and pretended like it didn’t happen. It would have been easy to simply apologize for the food and waive the bill. Instead it turned into a huge ordeal where she blamed us for the issues. Such terrible service. I will put a plug in for a really great pub not far from this one. East Side Craft House is a great pub. The waitresses are very accommodating and friendly. The owner seems to be always there. They also have the BEST Friday night Trivia.

The liquor store upstairs has a great beer/cider selection, so I was quick to suggest checking out the downstairs pub when we wanted to grab a drink in this area. There is ample(free) street parking available in the evening, so that usually isn’t a source of stress. As the same suggests, this is very much a neighbourhood pub – there are some large TVs to watch sports games(there were hockey highlight reels playing when we entered), a couple of pool tables, dart boards, and ample seating. The tap selection is dominated by BC craft beer options, which is the way it should be. We simply walked up to the bar to order our beers as no servers were coming around for a while. A pitcher of Parallel 49’s Gypsy Tears ran us $ 20, which is pretty fair for Vancouver. One of our friends eventually caught a server’s attention to order some nachos, which arrived in a massive, delightful pile with salsa, guac, and sour cream. In an area of Vancouver that doesn’t have the most happening nightlife, this is a solid choice if you’re looking to have a couple of beers and some good conversation in a relaxed setting.

Took too long to get my first drink. When trying to reorder same drink, she will forget my order. There was one waitress if she forgot me, she bought me one beer.

I went there with my family and the food and drinks r excellent. I would highly recommend. I ordered the prime steak dinner for $ 15 and it is as good as KEG

Cozy atmosphere. Love stopping in for beers and a bite now and then. The food is good, but didn’t realized how salty it was until we took food out and didn’t have all the beers to wash it down with. On busier nights, it’s a hit and miss with getting a good server, but generally they’re friendly.

Been here a few times. Thought it was okay until I ordered a Caesar and noticed something silver/black on the asparagus. When I showed the server she said it was spices they use(I’ve never noticed it any other time). It was a hard, silver metal looking thing. I couldn’t even take it off with my nail. Needles to say I am never going back!

Quaint little pub, tucked away off the side of Kingsway. Didn’t even know the place existed until recently. It’s on Clark, which is one block W of Knight(which turns into Clark a few blocks N of here). Definitely tricky to find the first time around. Parking is available on the side streets, as well as on Kingsway outside of rush hour. The entire pub is underground. There’s a small(possibly unrelated) diner above, but the trick is to find the Clark entrance and go down the stairs. The pub area is quite large and spacious, and there’s even a hidden walled patio on the side. The patio must be pretty awesome in the summer months. On the inside there are pool tables and dart boards in another side area. Staff were friendly, though they were spread out way too thin. My buddy wanted to order a beer and it took over 10(!) minutes to find someone. Then it was another 15 minutes to get the bill. Knock one star off an otherwise more favourable review. Beers are somewhat reasonable at $ 5. The menu looked pretty good. I’ll definitely be back to try the food at some point. Hopefully the staffing issue was just a bad day this time.

Came here last night with a group of 10. I was the first to arrive and had a few waitresses walk by without so much as a hello or a smile. We seated ourselves. Pub has a cozy atmosphere on the inside but as others have pointed out not much in the way of street signage. There’s lots of seats and some armchairs to choose from and a bunch of large flat screen TVs. A good place to watch a game. Service however was less than stellar — pleasant perhaps but not friendly. Drink orders were taken and fulfilled expediently, except for one of our party who asked for water — that took longer. We were in our softball uniforms so a pitcher of water for the table would have been a nice gesture. I felt like we waited way too long to place our order for food as the waitress did not come back. That done, I believe it took over an hour for the food to come out — a couple pizzas, some wings, chicken fingers, etc. The chicken fingers were fantastic, but the fries were just so-so. At $ 11 they’re reasonably priced as well. Drinks seemed to be well priced also. Sleeves of a few different beers were around the $ 5 mark. Waitress came around once or twice to bring more beer but did not refill water. I will add that they were quite busy when we arrived, but I still don’t think that excuses the long waits for service.

The food here is very good. And consistently good. The atmosphere is rather good, and it’s a great place to hang out. But the food is a notch above the usual pub fare. It’s always a delight to eat here whether lunch or dinner.

They pretty much have a little bit if everything when it comes to the food department. It’s cozy with chairs, couches, fireplace, pool tables, darts. It’s an all around good hang out spot. Everything on the menu is executed well. It’s a local fav! I will always come back for more.

This place always surprises me. I love the coffee shop on street level best hot cocoa. The liquor store will do in a pinch but it’s missing alot of stuff. I’ve only eaten at rhe retaurant in the basement once. It’s divey. Kind of place where you expect to see someone on the«most wanted» list but I have to say. The food was great!

This place is cool. Been here a few times… I like the drink selection. The food is just ok. I’ve never loved the food here but I like the drinks and the service.

Came here to watch a hockey game with my boyfriend and his friends. Atmosphere is pretty nice. It’s dark, but comfortable. It’s not too loud in there. There are TVs everywhere, so you’re sure to be able to watch at any angle. They have pool and darts, which is a nice add-on for activities. It feels more like a restaurant to me than a bar, but there’s a seating area for the bar. Food is excellent. I had the blue cheese burger, with fries on the side. It’s juicy, filling, and satisfying. All of their portion sizes for food are great, because the quality is top-notch. I gave a star down because I had to ask my waitress to refill my water all the time. It may seem silly, but I enjoy my water too much. She was great, don’t get me wrong. I just like to stay hydrated. Overall, great food, great service, great people. I recommend this place if you want a nice dinner and to chill out in the evening.

This place is perfect when you don’t know what to do for dinner. It’s also good for a quick snack! They made me fries in two minutes with a quick shot while waiting!

As strange luck would have it I wound up here again a few days after my breakfast discovery. Beer was cold and fast service. Definitely a better experience as I expected. New big flat screen TVs installed literally in the knick of time for the Seahawks opener. Everyone there seemed happy with food and drink choices tonight.

I have held off on reviewing Cedar Cottage for purely selfish reasons; I feared if word got out about this lovely laid back sanctuary, it might become too crowded. Then I realized I was putting way too much stock into my Unilocal reviews and I should probably get over myself. ATMOSPHERE: big, dark-ish, classy-ish. This is pretty much my go-to place if I need to get writing done. They have a nice, secluded patio, couches in front of a fire, a plethora of other seating options, and all though it can get fairly busy, it’s usually quiet. On the other hand, if you want to go for socializing it’s great for that, too. They have a couple pool tables, darts, plenty of space, and no loud music or TV’s to yell over. Sometimes the crowd leans towards the, ahem, older heavy drinking types, but that don’t bother me none. FOOD: Actually surprisingly damn good pub food! I pretty much blame them for everytime I slip up on my veganism; their pizzas are to die for. Hand made crust, made in a fire stove. Damn. If you don’t like pizza, they have lots of other options, too. DRINK: They usually have decent beer specials. I usually get a blue buck for five dollars. On top of that, they have some awesome bartenders who make some tasty mix drinks. In closing, if you’re not a jerk, you should totally check this place out. It’s a super rad place for non-jerks. There’s also a liquor store up top!

I like this little pub hidden away off Kingsway. The pub area is downstairs and a bit hidden. Theres a pool table, dart boards and enough tv screens for the sports enthusiast. We had a fairly large group of 70+ throughout the night and it was difficult to get servers to come around even though the pub was notified in advance. I just went up to the bar and the bartender was fast. Don’t expect a whole lot of cheerfulness though ;) The drink prices are fairly reasonable and I did not get a chance to sample the food.

Fun neighbourhood pub for watching the game, playing some pool, catching a band or just having some drinks/meal with pals. Pretty run of the mill food, except for the poutine. That poutine is excellent. The fries are crispy, even after being soaked in gravy and cheese curds. How do they do it? Magic. They also have been known to do breakfast buffets on holidays. Its a pretty good deal for people who eat eggs and meat.

I really wish this could be my neighbourhood pub but it’s so over-priced, my wallet shudders everytime I think of going there! If you must go, order their specials or bottles because everything else ALWAYS tastes tappy. The service is always good though! $ 18 jugs??? Seriously???
