I’ve tried many of their products before from other outlets and the food was always good so I decided it was time to make a trip to their store where they make everything fresh. BIG mistake, the moment I walked in I said hi trying to be nice and I didn’t even get a glance or a hello, so I grabbed what I came for and asked one of the two ladies working where I should pay; no response. I eventually spotted the little till and walked over then waited a good couple minutes for the ladies to offer me some service. One of them eventually came over and helped me but the moment she realized I couldn’t pay in cash she told me to put it back. How rude! Anyways the point of the story is they make wonderful product, you just shouldn’t go there to get it. Simple as that.

This place pumps out meats to Vietnamese restaurants across BC. Besides that they make a hell of a sub. Quick, friendly service. Price is good and sandwiches are always on point. Bread is always nice and fresh.

Bad customer service! Seemed like the daughter just got out of bed at noon with bad attitude! Nothing special! There are many better Vietnamese deli in Vancouver which can offer better service. Will not go back again!

This is by far the BEST viet sub I’ve ever tasted! Nicely toasted and full of flavor, quickly made and with very friendly service. I have also bought and loved the pre made spring rolls and pork balls, both very tasty. The price is great and the sammiches are consistently tasty. I will only eat their subs from now on, to avoid a disappointing lunch time…

I don’t post to often on Unilocal unless I am really impressed and I am impressed! I am new to Vancouver but I am a big Vietnamese Sandwich lover. I went to 5 or 6 places and they were pretty good, except for one where they only put a thin slice of meat and a bunch of fishy flavored glass noodles but then my lucky number 7 try landed me at Kim Chau’s Deli. The sandwiches are priced so good I ended up buying 3 different subs. The girl who makes the subs is a sweetheart and a good person to chat with. By the way Diana N, shes just trying to be polite so stop being rude on Unilocal.Everyone thinks your a TOTAL B… if you understand what I am saying. They take their time to make a perfectly toasted sub with just the right amount of heat and balanced flavors. The veggies are always fresh and crisp. I don’t know what they put in their sauces but its full of flavor and tastes amazing! It was so good I went back again the same day to try a mixed version of two different subs. ITWASAWESOME! I tried to tip the girl who made the subs but she said no, save it for your next sandwich. Now that’s a good person.

Kim Chau is a friendly place to pick up all kinds of interesting and delicious Vietnamese items. I am a weekly visitor for the Banh da lon. With my Banh da lon I always pick up two cold cut sandwiches for my husband and I. Kim Chau is on the sunny side of the street which makes everything taste better!:-)

Bah, the girl that makes the sandwiches behind the counter is such a talker to the point where she slows down because she’s so concerned about telling yet another story about herself that I don’t care to hear. I come here occasionally. The last time I came, she put my sandwich through the toaster, proceeded to eat something(putting her fingers into her mouth) and then proceeded to continue making my sandwich when the sandwich came out of the toaster. My jaw just about dropped. It was so unsanitary. I grew a spine and nicely asked her to make another sandwich for me. She got upset and asked why(fair enough) to which I explained that I didn’t want to eat a sandwich contaminated with her germs. She then got upset with me, threw the sandwich in the making into the back and started making a new sandwich with a grumpy face. Last time I’d ever be back. Hope she ain’t lickin her fingers in between making your sandwiches!

Authenitc Vietnamese subs at very reasonable prices. Kim Chau also has pretty good selection of Viet. desserts and frozen prepared meat patties, ham, and other stuff that can help you make a nice Viet. meal. The sub was pretty big and the bread wasn’t too hard. It had a good amount of filling inside. The lady who made the sub was really friendly and quick. A good place to get a quick bite.

I loved this place. Marc D raises a fine point– this place is like Viet Quiznos, but I’m ok with that. It can’t hurt to switch things up a little, y’know? They supply edible staples to various Viet cafes around the city(including my fave, Ba Le). The sandwich was tasty and while it was being prepared the effervescent girl behind the counter kept us entertained with stories about the biz and her family. I was all ears when she shared about bucking the family trend to be married at the age of 20. When she told her grandma that she planned to wait another 10 years her grandma was shocked, «you can do that?!» Being 30 and unmarried I absolutely ate that story up! And after she finished, she handed me my toasty banh mi and I ate that up too. Deeeerishous.

* Toasted? What do you think this is, Quiznos or something!!! * The bánh mì would probably be a 4 star in many other cities. But with Tung Hing( ) just about a block or two away this one is really just a 3 star. They put the pâté and all of the meat onto the bread and then ran it through a Quiznos style toaster. WTF!!! They added the usual toppings after(pickled carrots, pickled daikon, fresh cucumber slices, cilantro, and jalapeño slices). But I just couldn’t help but thinking I was eating at a Vietnamese Quiznos! I’m not used to having my Vietnamese deli meats heated up for a bánh mì. And I have to say I prefer really oven fresh bread and non-heated meats and pâté. Heated pâté really doesn’t work — it just gets runny. All of that said, the flavour profile was good, and the deli meats were of a higher quality than you find at many restaurants that serve bánh mì. I’ll definitely pick Tung Hing over this spot in the future. No doubt!
