Was looking for a place to eat somewhere along the skytrain line. I arrived before my friend but was told they would seat me when my friend arrived. Sushimoto does have 6 dining room style chairs lined up against the walls of the very tiny lobby area to sit at but the chairs were actually uncomfortable. Grateful Starbucks was next door as I enjoyed their outdoor seating while waiting for my friend to arrive. We were seated immediately. The menu is massive. Don’t expect to find bento boxes on the dinner menu as there were none to be found. The waitress was rather off-putting. She came to the table with menus and when I asked for tea she said«you want tea before your meal?» Yes I do, thank you very much! Then we asked for water and she said«one tea, one water?». No! We would both like water AND tea. Her lack of proper waiting etiquette was evident throughout our meal. Her poor waitress skills were the only damper on what was otherwise a delicious meal. I ordered the chicken karage, a tuna sashimi and the california roll topped with smoked salmon. OMG! The latter was like an explosion of flavour in my mouth. Unbelievably delicious, unlike any other type of sushi roll I’ve ever tasted. The chicken karage was the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Nice petite pieces of deep fried chicken, drizzled in just a wee bit of teriyaki sauce. All totaled my meal was around $ 12. Every single item is ordered separately at Sushimoto. My friend ordered miso soup, salad, fried tofu, tuna sashimi and a roll and the meal totaled $ 20. The presentation was exemplary and the pottery dishes that each was served on was appreciated. This was a great meal(despite the less than mediocre waitress) and I will definitely eat at Sushimoto again.

Actually quite delighted at this recommendation. A bit pricier than I expected, but everything was delicious! Interesting rolls and the deluxe chirashi was impressive. We will be back! Late hours a bonus!

Thought they were Japanese run but to my surprise, it is a little higher end Korean-run sushi restaurant. The portions are smaller, dishes are fancier, prices are a bit higher as well. Quality is there too so I’m not really complaining. Oh one complaint: their chairs are really uncomfy…

I have been going to Sushimoto for 4 years now and originally if I were to rate this restaurant I would have given it 5 stars. However last night(1 month from the last time I ordered there) I placed my regular order and was very excited to get home and feast! I opened up my containers and the rolls were HALFTHESIZETHEYUSEDTOBE! Same price but less rice and less filling now. Definitely not impressed and will be giving my business to another sushi restaurant that gives proper portions for the price I am paying.

The restaurant has a Japanese feel to it and very cool displays. The food is pretty average. Nothing stands out that would make us want to come back. They’re 7 of us and we all share the same opinion… we weren’t impressed nor disappointed. Service was ok, we got a trainee so we didn’t expect much!

Rolls were SO small. Not worth! The normal rolls were the same size as those small rolls with no rice.

This is a small sushi place but the food is very very good. We ordered the sushi combo B and it came with two miso soup and two rolls of california rolls, two rolls of dynamite rolls and two salmon nigiri, two tuna nigiri and 2 ebi nigiri. Very good sushi that filled two people. Portion wasn’t like super big. The quality of the sushi is high. Décor is interesting. Pay attention to their sushi bar counter seats. They have really cool movie figurines. As well their cups are very interesting. I couldn’t stop looking at it. Very educational on some of them. Service was pretty good. I enjoy eatting here. As well, they filled up my cups couple times. thumbs up. Yes this is ran by Koreans and Koreans make good sushi.

I really enjoy Sushimoto, the sushi is fresh and the special rolls are good. The cell phone connection is horrible in the restaurant though. So if you’re a phone surfer while dining, make sure to ask for their wifi code.

I went there with my boyfriend because of my boyfriend strog recommendation. Food portion not that bad but i agree that a bit pricy compare to other local resturants. Service is below the expectation. Order food and it seems like keep delay because all server and cheif seem to focus on too much take out order versus someone who order food on table. Order zaru soba, it takes fourty minutes to have and when i ask to server whether it has taken order correctly. Server simply resonponses that cook noodle require a lot of time to prepare(like 40min). I thought they are actaully make the noodle on their own in order to take time like fourty minutes but taste like exactly same as regular unfrozen cold noodle one that sell at TNT. I definitely not going here again at all and not recommend to all friends.

Sushimoto is one of the restaurants that provides you with a traditional feel of a Japanese restaurant, with a modern twist. The modern twist comes from their display of toy figures of some Japanese comic books and also some athletes. When you walk in, you are greeted by the sushi chefs as the waitress seats you. Keep in mind that because this is a small restaurant, so do expect to wait for a long time. I would usually order their salmon sashimi because it is usually what I want when it comes to recovery from a hard workout. A sweet bonus is that they would give you a small bowl of rice for free if you ask.(It even says it on the menu.) While the bowl is small enough to feed a baby, it is still considerate that they were willing to give extra food for free. They also fancy some sushi rolls, maki rolls and other combinations. They also have beer and soju for purchase. While this is a great restaurant for me personally due to being able to recover quickly, this is one of the restaurants that is great when you want to spend the night with great sushi and alcohol with friends before heading home to have a break for the weekend. Advantages: Right beside Holdom Skytrain Station Great for takeout too + .5 star for the free rice

This place is super convenient(driving and by public transit), has great service, and great food and selection. Located next to the Starbucks near Holdom Skytrain. I had the Chirashi, Tai Flower, some Aburi sushi, Awesome Roll and Vegas Roll. All the fish was extremely fresh and the meat to rice ratio was really nice, not too much, not too little. The aburi was the highlight of the meal — can’t beat flame seared fish on rice. It was similar to Miku’s and definitely fulfilled a craving I’ve been having for some time now. Service is really nice and the server was really helpful with suggestions. The restaurant itself is really cozy and a great place to take your family or for a casual business lunch or meal. Food is really fast. I usually get takeout just because it’s convenient. My only thing that I’m slightly disappointed about is how it is really fusion-ey, the rolls are good, but I think the sauces they use are a bit overpowering with all the fresh ingredients they use.

Came here on my birthday super excited, the food portions were small and we paid so much for small rolls. When I mean small I mean there were only two slices of avocados in a whole roll. Not much I was disappointed, and haven’t returned since. But the sushi is good. But not worth the portion for the price.

Sushimoto is quite popular for its Aburi nigiri and special rolls and although it was good, I found it quite expensive. A meal for 4 cost over 100 dollars as there isn’t a really filling say cats don to fill one up. It was good food overall, especially the amusement roll, moto negator and aburi toro & salmon belly. I highly recommend their aburi nigiri but their special rolls are sometimes overpriced. Service is very kind but the place is small so be prepared to wait a little bit.

I liked the atmosphere. This is the nicest-looking sushi restaurant(most interesting decoration) that I’ve been to in the Vancouver area. I really liked the oshizushi. Moto signature roll was good too(lots of sauce). Also had a negitoro roll and chirashi sushi. $ 42 plus tip for two people.

First impressions are good. Great to be able to sit out side, as they have a few tables. Working lunch with laptops and all went quite good. Salmon cream cheese roll was excellent.

If this keeps up, the Koreans should just stay in the sushi biz, especially for the aburi. Some places have too much of the blow torch smell/taste but here, is just perfect. Highly recommend the salmon, which was a lot better than the scallop one. also ordered the las Vegas roll, not as good as Sushiholic, in fact quite different with no cream cheese but a tasty combo of tempura and unagi. toro sashimi yummy with a new twist: came with some soya dip to take away the ‘fishy’ smell; not needed if you’re a diehard lol. For the décor and ambience, well worth the price. High ceilings, and sushi bar raised on a platform so just in case for those looking for sushi chef action/interaction, you won’t get it here. Booth seating only at front. Nice, cabin-décor washrooms. Great service.

mmmm, a definite win in my books. This place isn’t comparable to the budget sushi places(like sushi california, sushi garden and the like). The prices are a bit higher, but the quality is much better. I ordered takeout, and got just enough food for 5 people for about $ 75: — spicy salmon sashimi, 10 pieces — *toro & negi /ponzu sauce, 8 pieces — *soft shell crab roll — organic alaska roll — *red dynamite roll(dynamite with spicy salmon) — gyoza(this was just OK, i’d skip out next time) — gommae(really really really tiny portion for $ 3.50. wouldn’t order again) — wakame salad(very reasonable portion) — *BBQ tuna roll — *seared hotate(scallop) carpaccio A few of my favorites are the starred ones, while I did really like most of everything else. Super fresh, and you can’t go wrong with anything thats just been lightly torched or seared. Yum! I would skip out on the gyoza and gommae though. Wasn’t that impressed with the gyoza(though it could be b/c it was cold by the time we got home), and the gommae was a ridiculously small portion, especially when compared to the wakame. Anyhow, come here, you won’t regret it!

I literally live a block away and didn’t know this place existed until about a year ago. This is my favourite place to get sushi, ever. This place makes Sushi Garden and Sushi Town look and taste and feel like trash. Everything is so much better here. The interior + atmosphere is modern yet homey, and the service is SOMUCH better than what you would get at Sushi Garden or Sushi Town. The food is so good. The fish is amazingly fresh. When I go for lunch I always get the lunch special chirashi! So cheap and so good. You basically can’t go wrong here. Everything is good. Sushi Moto is a bit more pricey but you can definitely feel the difference.

Have I found a hidden gem? Like seriously found a gem that no one else has found? I contemplated not posting this review in case others discover that Sushimoto is 100x better than Sushi Garden down the road, but I can’t help it, Sushimoto is great! Great customer service. My tea was refilled every 10 minutes. The food came at the right pace(aka not too fast so you know its premade and not too slow that you prob die from hunger). Fresh sashimi — salmon, tuna belly, hamachi, sweet shrimp were all to die for. The oyster motoyaki was yummy, so was the scallop one, which I would order again. The common rolls are a no go — they were really small and not too memorable, but the special rolls, you’ll have to try! I will come again very soon!

I would recommend making reservations if you want to avoid waiting around during prime dinner hours. Arriving at 7:50PM was a 25 minute wait which was okay for us as it gave us time to look through their menu. It’s great how their menu has individual pictures and a description of each roll so you know exactly what to expect. The one thing that immediately sets Sushimoto apart from other sushi joints is the option to order sushi rice with your sashimi with no additional charge. On the other hand, if you’re watching your carb intake, you can also request them to lessen the portion of rice in your nigiri. The sashimi was average but solid, the tuna had good texture. On the other hand, I didn’t like the seared toro steak nigiri at all, it was just like an average sized slice of tuna(not the belly) and tasted over-seared/over cooked — not worth $ 2.5 per piece. I liked the components of the Organic Alaska roll, it was essentially an avocado roll with salmon on top on a bed of organic greens but I really didn’t like how the roll sat in a pool of overly sour salad dressing. It was way too strong and overpowering. The Amusement roll(soybean skin, unagi, cream cheese, cucumber, crabmeat, salmon, ikura, masago, wasabi mayo & unagi sauce) and Volcano roll(california roll with seared chopped scallop on top, green onions, misonnaise & spicy sauce) were better but nothing outstanding. Overall, Sushimoto was just okay.
