Best Indian I have ever had! This restaurant is fantastic, what a gem! Me and my boyfriend choose to eat here after looking for top restaurants in Stirling… it did not fail to impress us. The staff are very kind and good at their job, we went on a Saturday night and although the restaurant was busy the atmosphere was calm and this is a credit to the staff for running a smooth operation! The menu is vast with plenty of options, my boyfriend opted for one of the chefs specials which despite the large portions he did not leave a drop on his plate! I ‘played safe’ by sticking to what I knew I liked and went for the tikka masala– best I’ve ever ever eaten! I wish we lived closer as we would be regulars but unfortunately we are only visiting the area for the weekend. Decent portions and good value, highly recommend this restaurant!

Fantastic! Great service, the food was full of flavor and very well made. Our server recommended several dishes of house specialities and they were all hits. I highly recommend the black lentils and the butter tikka masala. My husband’s lamb dish was very good too — just the right amount of heat and well balanced spices. We have missed really good curry since moving back to the States and were well pleased with our meal. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant!

I ordered take away from here. There were some initial teething problems while I tried to make it understood that I wanted the takeaway delivered to my local pub, the Settle Inn. The man on the phone asked me for the postcode, which I didn’t have(since I don’t actually live at the pub, I just give that impression!). But I just reiterated it was the Settle Inn on Upper Bridge Street, and said ‘your driver will almost definitely know it’, and he seemed to get used to the idea. I was able to pay by card over the phone, which I appreciated. The takeaway turned up at the pub as expected, still wonderfully warm, and the man who brought it was friendly and efficient — he didn’t seem phased by having to deliver a curry to the pub, anyway. I’d ordered off the set meal-for-one deal — popadoms, a starter, a standard curry, and a nan bread or rice. The portion was HUGE. Huge. I got chicken pakora and a curry I don’t remember the name of. Everything was really tasty. At 11.50 I felt it was really good value. I couldn’t finish it all — I took the curry home and ate it the next day for lunch! As far as takeaways go this was one of the better ones I’d had — crisp non-greasy pakora, and curry full of fresh herbs and lovely things. I would like to try a sit-in meal at this restaurant sometime.

Maharaja was #1 on TripAdvisor for Stirling, so we thought we’d give it a try. Our initial waiter was a bit cold and standoffish. A younger guy took over halfway through, and he was much friendlier and very cordial. I ordered their Special Seafood Bhoona and a round of Garlic and Cheese Nan. The naan was nice and crispy, though only slightly garlicky. The bhoona was sweet from the ginger, spicy from the pepper, and had a nice bite from the garlic. It was really good with the naan. Indian food isn’t really my all time favorite, but Maharaja was decent enough.
