This is a tiny sandwich shop on The Broadway in Haywards Heath. It always has a queue out the door at lunchtimes, and is ideally placed near several office blocks. It serves a range of sandwiches and baps which are made to order in front of you. Popular options often run thin by 1.30pm so get there early. So pick your bread type, and bap or sandwich, then choose from the array of fillings laid out in front of you. My favourite is the meatballs, but they aren’t always there. There is a large range of chicken fillings such as coronation chicken, chicken tikka, chicken and bacon, as well as several vegetarian options. Portions are pretty generous, and price is reasonable. £2.70 for a sandwich, ranging to about £3.30 for a big bap or roll. Additional charges for extras. Salad is always free. Service ranges greatly depending on who is serving! But in the main it’s very efficient and friendly. In a street that is aplenty with choice of places to eat, this tiny place has done remarkably well over the years as I’ve seen many other places come and go. The key being its a great little sandwich shop that gives the buyer choice, and offers reasonable priced and a hearty decent sandwich.

Fine baps is a pretty decent sandwich shop. They have a good selection of breads and fillings for you to choose from. They obviously do a good lunchtime trade with all the offices situated close by and you will regularly see a queue of hungry office folk waiting for their lunchtime snack. They also have soup and salads on offer and each sandwich is generously crammed with the freshly made fillings. You will pay between £2-£3 for your lunch and can also pick up a drink or packet of crisps if you desire. The good thing is that they are open early in the morning if you missed breakfast and also will open for business late night on the weekend if you have been out drinking in the bars on the Broadway. This is great if you are feeling a bit peckish after your night out, but can’t quite face a kebab or a burger. A great little gem.
