seriously? no reviews? i guess the UK version of this site is new, so i can forgive.
the rene is my favourite place to drink!
the inside is decorated with wine bottles all around, old pictures and its dark and very picture-​esque, with candlelit tables and even a little well inside!
i’ve never eaten there, so i cant talk about the food, but the atmosphere and drink options are really great.
the only negative thing about this place is that it attracts weirdos (i dont know what that says about me, but dont dwell) you get a lot of druggies there, and old drunken creepy guys, moreso than i’ve seen in other pubs and bars, that is, but its still a great place to go!

Good food and suroundings, but as others have said pretty busy in the evenings. Venture down to the basement for some vaulted dace floor fun, and another bar :)

Great food and surroundings, only slightly let down by the lack of cleanliness, especially the toilets. Great fresh ingredients and lots of choice.

The food here is fantastic — but as some other reviewers have said, it does get extremely busy in the evenings.
You can book a table though and the staff are very pleasant.
The cellar bar is atmospheric and offers something a bit different to most city centre bars.
There are regularly changing ales on offer and the staff are quite knowledgeable about those too.
They often have live music too — and it is great to have such an intimate venue to watch live bands.
Don’t try and communicate with them via e-​mail though, they never reply. IF you want to book a table/​function, then give them a call instead.

Just like to say we have been to the Café Rene more than a few times, when we have been in town and keep going back there. So much to choose from the menu and the food is just so good. So worth going there and our children have enjoyed there meals too.
