Peace and Jam appeared on the scene about a year ago, and I must admit I was surprised at the time that so many babygrows exist in the one place. You could rack through the pretty, quirky kids clothes for ages! They host an eclectic assortment of clothes for children up to 8 years, from quaint looking plaid dresses to punky duds for romping tots. It’s probably the only shop I’ve ever been to where I’ve seen a skull sweatband for a 2 year old, and my wee baby cousins would like the wee combat trousers and camoflage tops. My cousin recently surprised us with a baby(when I say surprised I mean she told us after she had popped Noah out) so I made an impromptu shopping expidition to buy some new baby pressies. It was a whole load of fun but whoa, the prices are steep. I bought a dummy, rompersuit and jumper and it cost my an arm and a leg — almost caught me off guard as much as her having a surprise September baby did. So if you’re going to go nuts spending like I did, be prepared for the cost. But with the friendly staff and seriously cute knitted pirate jumpers, it’s the kind of place you would be willing to part with money in. Maybe it’s just as well I don’t have a bambino just yet, as I’d probably spend more money in here, kitting my baby out to be a mini punk rocker, than buying food and prams and all that necessary nonsense! It’s cool that a baby shop exists where you can find some cute and different gifts.

Encouraged by the hip name, the simple lay out and the long rails, I came in here to buy my trendy nephew(or rather, my nephew with a cool mother) something fort Christmas. Of course, the plan fell down when I realised that he was no longer of the age where they still order sizes by months. The clothes are cool, a little expensive but well made and stylish. The staff were very patient as I tried to work out my nephew’s size, and made good suggestions even when I went on about his hobbies, in the hope that would help me. One warning: this site is one that seems to struggle. In the past few years, it has changed hands frequently– it used to be a great Green Tea shop café. I hope that Peace can overcome the history.

This is a great place for some funky and pretty unique kids clothes, although i would hazard a guess that most of the people who shop in here are buying presents rather than for their own kids… why? coz geez is it pricey. Now maybe I’m just reverting to tight fisted Scottish stereotype but hey its part of my heritage! Nah, beyond the price tags there can be no doubt that this place breathes a breath of fresh air into what has been a pretty stagnant shopping market. With a funky presentation and even funkier gear this is a must for the fashion conscious 1 to 8 year old, however if your kids like mine and enjoys nothing more than sitting in a puddle and eating rocks then you might want to have a rethink before jamming your hand in your pocket for a peace of eight to pay for the funky threads.

I do love a good pun and the title of this pretty wee place is one that’s sweet and Glaswegian, like the store itself. This lovely little shop offers the very best in children’s clothing, shunning the usual stiff collars and frilly socks, in favour of the quirky, cool and comfortable. The clothes sold here are extraordinary, offering the latest designs from little known and hilariously named brands such as Finger in the Nose and Rock Your Baby. The staff here are really friendly and clued up, having kids themselves, they’re able to assist and advise, from first hand experience. If the name of the shop is anything to go by, this is a cute, cool and creative cave of clothing for the coolest of kids.

When I first saw peace & jam from afar I thought and hoped that it was going to be a little Scottish café with a bit of a chilled out trendy hippy vibe to it that did mean jam sandwiches. I couldn’t have been much more wrong. Peace & Jam is a ridiculous shop first of all every single item of clothing is far too small for me… Wait a minute this is a shop that only sells designer label clothes for children who will grow out of them or knock holes in the knees or appreciate them. Ah, that’s not ridiculous at all!
