Similar to many Americans that come every summer because of Univ of Sussex Int’l School, I was only here for 2 months. It wasn’t until the last two weeks of my time in Brighton that I realized I didn’t explore as much, it was usually just Coalition, the Arch and more clubs. I remember stumbling across a Buzzfeed article about the best bars in town. I wanted to hit up as many spots as possible. My two friends and I set out to see how many bars we could go to. The entrance to the bar is super sketch since it’s a small alleyway that leads to the front door. Right when we entered, I really had to go to the loo so I headed upstairs. Upon my return my friend told me he bought me a drink since Happy Hour was going to end soon. I asked him what he ordered and he couldn’t remember. However, when the drink came, it blew my mind. It was so delicious and super strong but still so good! When my friend from out of town came to visit, I took her here the following week. We made it in time for Happy Hour, we were all debating on what to order. I couldn’t remember the delicious drink I got last time since my friend never figured out the name. However, luckily for us, someone ordered the same drink and I remember how it looked, LEMONTREE! That drink is magical! In terms of décor, it’s super cozy and I like the atmosphere there. I highly doubt I’ll be visiting Brighton anytime soon but if I do and my schedule allows a drink, I definitely will come back here!

I’m going to have to go here again for more cocktails so that I can perhaps give a more balanced review. I went last night and wasn’t greatly impressed, but I have been here on other occasions where it has been lovely. I had a frozen passion fruit margarita, which to be honest didn’t taste anything like passion fruit at all. In fact, it tastes and smelled like toilet cleaner. I’m hoping this was a one off. I noticed a few people had left and left their cocktails half full, so I’m wondering if the service was a little off last night? As I said, I shall return to give it another go!

Amazing cocktails(we had the black forest gateaux martini, banoffee pie martini, texas gringo and applejack sour. these last two had the strongest rum in them. weeeee). Nice bartenders. Very cosy bar(low ceilings and can be tightly packed with customers) with a little outside area with a picnic bench etc. Great menu, good prices. Tucked away off the main street so you might not even notice the entrance. Great find. Will be back.

Hiding away in the South Laines is a gorgeous little cocktail bar called the Twisted Lemon. I can’t comment on the food, but the cocktails are incredible and the staff are very happy — often a great tell for bars(speaking as an old hat barmaid). It’s a cosy little bar, which is always buzzing downstairs and quieter upstairs — suitable for any kind of party. There’s also a great garden in the back — well-heated in the winter.

Twisted Lemon is a true hidden treasure of Brighton! Tucked away down a tiny little lane, unknown to many, it’s cosy but quaint, with drinks that will not fail to impress. Having only ever been here for cocktails, I cannot comment on the food, but the selection and quality of the drinks is wonderful! The bartenders and friendly and accommodating and seem to know their way around the menu, making drinks with ease and flair. The concoctions are tasty and fresh, with just the right amount of alcohol. In terms of pricing, if you go during their happy hour the cocktail prices simply cannot be beaten. That being said, the prices are also extremely reasonable outside of this, at around £6 a cocktail, so it’s worth a visit whatever the time! The only downfall of the place is that it is small and often a little cramped, so if you’re looking for ample space or don’t fancy cosying up to a stranger then this might not be the place for you. Bear in mind though that there is an upstairs seating area that some don’t know about and in the summer there’s also a lovely(but equally tiny) outdoor area to sit and enjoy a sunny evening, cocktail in hand.

Twisted Lemon is cool restaurant tucked away in a narrow alley in the South Lanes. Their prices here are reasonable and food is generally good and tasty. I think this would be a great place to check out when struggling to find a restaurant for lunch!

Not bad at all! Very reasonable menu prices. Great selection of cocktails available, at fair prices. you could easily miss this bar, as it’s tucked away through a very narrow Yellow alley. If you can see Oasis and Pretty Green shops. you’re very close

I’m not going to do a full review today as I haven’t yet sampled the food, having only dropped in for a bottle of beer just after the opening night. However — I’m very excited! Opened on the site of the much loved, and much missed, Blind Lemon Alley, the Twisted Lemon is hoping to rejuvenate this fab lil corner of Brighton, offering a twist(ta-da!) on the standard bar/grill/cocktail concept. The new owners were very friendly and very patient about the endless mentions of the restaurant’s previous incarnation! They were offering a limited menu the night we were there, including ribs(which looked amazing) and burgers. The cocktails looked well worth staying for, but we passed as we weren’t eating. I know — how sensible??? They have big plans for the place, not least extending the menu and the opening hours but, even as it stands, the Twisted Lemon is worth a squeeze.
